    What do you mean, Trixie?
I’ve only had music pulled when I announce the artist. If I announce the song title it may be blocked on mobile. I try to stay generic in descriptions.

    I don't think there would be a name for it! It's a transition from a move to a move….

I think most of the time people post their best stuff. 😉 Am I ever COMPLETELY happy with anything I put up? Nope. I always pick out stuff that could be better. But I sure don't post videos where I spend 10 minutes looking *extremely* awkward trying different moves, wiping the pole, staring at the pole, etc.

The best way to get better at liking what you see on camera is to video yourself often. As a teacher once told me, 'the camera doesn't lie'. It's all there, the good the bad the ugly. The goal is to get the good to outweigh the rest!

Also…I have quite a few hoop and pole fb friends, and while my fb pole profile is pretty much ALL POLE (I created it specifically for me to geek out about pole with those who get it), I do find myself annoyed with those hoop friends/acquaintances who ONLY talk about hoop on their regular page. I mean, they relate everything to the hoop. I actually used to do that, now I figure everyone knows what I do and they'll bring it up to me if they're interested. 🙂

I don't generally talk about pole unless it's with people who 'get it'. I don't feel compelled to talk about it, I figure 'what is the point?'. It would be like a martial artist trying to engage me in what they do and why they love it. My eyes might glaze over b/c I don't really care. 😉

generally, yes, get thicker ones. we have a 2" one too though, which is great for shoulder mounting with and weaning down to having no mat. 🙂

Double stressing…you need to work your other side!! If you can't invert on you other side, that needs to happen first.

    I have a vado–very compact–and a little tripod (called Joby). LOVE THEM. I highly recommend regular video'ing.

I don't draw pictures. I just learn the moves and their names, and if I want to remember combos I just write (for instance) 'side climb to invert to knee hold to hood ornament' etc. No need to describe each limb action and such for that, since I know each piece already. 🙂

Now if I'm trying to LEARN a move I'll write descriptions and sometimes print pics of someone else in the move. That is SO much easier than trying to describe via words or stick figures.

Cool! I feel like I really gravitate to Pilates. I will check out this link. Thank you! I like to do 'leg scissors' with my students and also leg circles etc.

Agree with Krista–work your other side! I am guilty of not doing this too, of course, but I always, always stress the importance of trying to maintain 'balance'. @Krista, what are some good Pilates exercises for working the deep core? Very intrigued by pilates and curious. 🙂

my biggest tips: elbowstands and handstands!! lots and lots of them. yeah, so not only do you need to find that 'sweet spot', if you can't find your balance it doesn't matter. 😉

1 month poling is not very long. Eat more and keep working. You'll see a difference, but not overnight.

That's too bad. I don't understand pole drama…and believe me in becoming part of my local pole community I've been involved in it unwittingly. Unfortunately, there seems to be drama in ALL circles (I'm also a hooper and have been involved in it there too, sadly).

How did the studio owner communicate her upset to you?

If it were me (and not knowing the exact situation) I would question whether it was worth it to continue at the studio (e–do I like my teacher/classmates/progression etc)…or whether I should continue poling solely 'at home.' Probably only you can answer that.

I'm personally fine with my students going to other studios, in fact I have a hard time saying 'my students' because I certainly don't own them or want to control them, but I do feel a lot of affection for them and want them to be safe and avoid injury. I feel like there's this balance between pushing physical limits and being unsafe/having students who are not ready do moves too soon/not be taught proper body mechanics and engagement etc. Everyone needs to have a good sense of their own limits and a good sense of self preservation. 😀

OK, thanks for the link, good to see the views, but yeah, I can't justify the $$ either. I should sew my own. 🙂

Shoot, there are no shots of the back (or front)? Or color swatches? Cool stuff, but if I can't see both the front and back I'm not buying..!

this is less about flexibility and more about core and proper engagement…can you show a video of you trying to go into it?
