Personally, I could never do lap dances for strange men but I would love to just dance on stage. And from the sounds of it, it seems like the only money comes from doing the lap dances. Do what makes you feel comfortable and have fun!

I recently bought the xtage lite, and been using it all week for the first time practicing for a performance. The pole itself wobbles, especially the higher up you get, but the base stays put. At first I thought maybe the pole was wobbling more than it should, but after watching some xstage lite videos on youtube, they all seem to wobble the same. It does take getting used to–I'm still getting used to the wobble on spinning mode. I almost feel like I lose momentum with certain trick combos that I've been able to do on the xpert and still keep the momentum. Is there a trick to keeping momentum on a stand alone pole stage??

Even if it wasn't the best show to showcase pole dance. They brought something DIFFERENT to the table! Hey I got to be on VH1's Dance Cam Slam which I think was a little bit better of a platform only because every contestant brought their own dance style…and there were A LOT of different styles LOL. I even received positive feedback from the judges when I was expecting "she must be a stripper….bla bla bla." …I did make an extra effort to not be "overly" sexy just to prove to people that there is an athletic side to pole dance. So I understand what Jagged was trying to do. Overall I was pleased with the VH1's acceptance of it and people's feedback. I can't wait for the next national show that has pole dance on it! I'll always be excited!
Oh and the Vertical Pole Challenge thing…? I talked to Fawnia and Jenyne last year and they said the producers are having a tough time getting enough contestants on the show….I was soo pissed! I was all ready to be on their show last April and they "postponed" it. It has yet to be rescheduled. Grrrrr.

It's illegal to make profits off of music that isn't yours. I know that there is a yearly fee that can be paid to ASCAP to be able to use any song. Not sure if they have looked into that. But they should! I agree, they should make a DVD available for the people who can't make the events.

MemberFebruary 11, 2011 at 11:57 am in reply to: did anybody ever make a tutorial for “the roxy” spin?I'm going to "try" to explain how to get into the roxy (for a spinning pole). But first you have to be familiar with the half spin or "swoop" and "elbow pirouette" as I like to call it. The half spin is basically letting your outside leg swoop halfway around the pole, and placing back on the floor–near where you started. i'm going to explain as if you are doing this on your right side. Right hand being inside hand, and left being outside. As your outside (left) foot is coming back down to the floor out of the half spin, your left elbow is going to hook onto the pole–so now your body is facing backwards. Switch your weight to your right foot and turn your chest outwards and grab the pole below and behind you with your right hand. here's the tricky part. as you grab behind with your right hand, your your left leg will swing in front as your right leg will naturally hook around the pole as you're twisting your body outwards. It feels weird and you really need to be stretched out for it especially in your shoulders, pecs and hips. I have yet figured out a way to come out of it gracefully though. hahaha. Hope this helps. 😛

MemberFebruary 9, 2011 at 6:34 pm in reply to: so…does anyone else think their xpert chrome-finish feel slippery?I understand what you're saying about warming up the pole veena. I always warm up, to the point that my skin has a slight moisture so i can do leg holds. But even after i warm up,(and my pole is warmed) the chrome unfortunately still feels slick. i LOVE stainless steel, but xpole doesn't use that. i was gonna go with platinum stages but they were more expensive and i've heard too many horror stories with the shipping and customer service. i'll definitely try using the dawn soap technique. right now i just use rubbing alcohol to clean. thank you for your suggestions! xoxo

I've been wanting to gogo dance for like 8 years now…hahaha. and FINALLY i was able to hook up with a new entertainment group this year who is based out of my own town. the owner has been a gogo dancer for 4 years. she only books respectable gigs–no nudity, no latex clothing. and the girls on the team are GREAT! so much fun and full of energy. i can't imagine a better way to make money. my bf is still on the fence because he's concerned about my safety. like briana said, most clubs have their own bouncers to take care of problems but it never hurts to have a defensive attitude towards rude people. some clubs are cutting back on their entertainment budgets but we still book gigs anywhere from $50 to $100 for 2-4 hours of work. and i LOVE the fun sexy outfits! i'm still working on networking to book some POLE gigs. my area is still kinda s-l-o-w when it comes to featuring pole performers. good luck!

The x-joint does work properly when you tighten it properly. You have to tighten each screw on either end with equal torque. I too have had the pole tubes twist on me, but you can easily bang em out with a broom stick. And that only really happened when I first bought my pole and didn't know any better. 😛 But it doesn't matter what kind of design they come up with, it's never going to be trouble-proof unfortunately. But I do believe the x-joint is better than the old design. Just make sure to keep the threads clean!

i have a 50 mm chrome xpole and it never spins fast. i am constantly taking it up and down because the living room is the only usable space i have. i agree that the angle could affect the spinning speed but no matter how many times i put it up, it still spins s-l-o-w. i guess i shouldn't complain too much. sounds like the faster poles are the problem. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Thanks ladies for the helpful feedback! Amy I took your advice and put on some tite grip on earlier before I worked out, and then combined it with some itac right before i started climbing on the pole, and it helped. It seemed to be more conducive to spinning mode, but static mode i slipped a tiny bit but not as much. i'm very appreciative for everyone's input! keep 'em coming. i'm sure there's many polers who were having the same issues. <3

Well Fawnia and Jenyne told me that they’re having problems finding enough competitors. They want at least 10 competitors per show. I only know of 3 (including myself) that were planning on competing back in April.

I was supposed to be in their April competition and it’s been postponed. To this day, they still haven’t given me a new filming date. Grrrrr….I had already booked my flight but they said they’d reimburse me for the flight changes for the new competition date….whenever is IS!! Has anyone else been waiting since April to compete??
