I would love to do a few amateur nights at clubs around town… but I fear that a somewhat chunky 40-year-old isn't exactly what they're looking for, lol. If I'd have discovered pole 10 years ago I would have probably danced in a club. I have a personality that I think would have caused me to bank in a big way. Anyway…. I didn't discover pole 10 years ago so here I am, shaking my groove thang at the studio and at home, and secretly wanting to dance, just for a while, to make some extra cash.

Who here has done one? Did you like it? And…have you ever considered dancing? If so, did your experience at a club reinforce that or not?

You could probably work in a club on dayshift or something, you could always drop by during the day and talk to their manager and see if they are hiring. At my club theres some women who are 50+, the club lighting is so dark it makes them look much younger. Im a dancer who started poling 2 years before i became one and lost alot of weight with becoming a dancer as my motivation. But these days its not like it used to be (ive heard) before like 10 years ago everyone made all their money on stage but now I dont make more than probably $15 a night from the stage even though I pole dance alot every single stage so you really got to be a sales person who can sell lap dances. If you want to, go try it! If you dont try it you might regret it someday when you arent able to anymore. You only live once right?

@polergirl,I think it just depends on the club(s) you go into, each place has
A diff standard in terms of the women
They hire.you should def stop by one
Of them, talk to mgmt about getting hired and pay attn to the types of women they have working, what’s their look, also check out the clientele so you get a better idea of the place(s)
    Good luck with your poping

I would just go talk to a few clubs and see who's hiring and where you'd feel the most comfortable. I used to work in a club when I got back from basic training. It was something I'd always wanted to try and I LOOOOOOVED it! Well, I loved to pole haha. Most of the big money comes from table/ lap dances and private dances, but I made decent money from the stage (I was too shy to bully men into lapdances lol). I was a little chunky myself but I toned up and I had a bangin' body. (I was pretty damn hot to toot my own horn !!)The club I worked at made us dance on 3 stages. Typically you had a set of 2-3 songs that were roughly 3+ mins. So on average, we'll say you're dancing for about 20- 30 mins straight every hour. Do that for eight hours a few times a week and it won't be long before you see and feel a difference. Shoot, if I felt comfortable enough with my body now, I'd do it again! I love to perform! Now, I will say to make sure you get some thongs that cover all your lady bits. I'll be a bit blunt to say I have quite a bit down there and a site I ordered from was the pole dancing shop. Their butterfly thongs are thicker, wider and very comfy. I wear them with regular clothes in place of underwear :). I hope I helped! Good luck!!!

I'm comfortable with lap and private dances, I'm a regular(ish) at a few of the clubs and every time I go, I walk out thinking "I wonder how I would do here?"

You may also want to take a stroll around stripperweb.com if you haven’t checked it out yet. Lots of useful info there. 🙂

I've done a few amatuer contests at strip clubs and actually won my first one! 😛 I did a little striptease but  never took my clothes off completey–lots of layers 😉 I think doing an amatuer night is the perfect opportunity to get the "strip club experience" without having to seduce the men into buying lap dances. Personally, I could never do lap dances for strange men but I would love to just dance on stage. And from the sounds of it, it seems like the only money comes from doing the lap dances. Do what makes you feel comfortable and have fun!
