I did an Aerial Silks workshop here in the UK a few weeks back. It’s so much fun, but I didn’t expect it to be so difficult! The amount of upper body strength required is immense. Going to do it again tho https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

My little boy like his rock climbing shoes for the pole as they have grippy feet.
Never thought of them! Thank you.

Thanks hun. Have been looking at some Adidas ones which are on sale so might have to bite the bullet and get some https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif They’ll come in for the Chinese Pole if nothing else https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

Just noticed your conversation about boxing boots – do they help with grip and that on the pole? I’m trying new moves which need my feet and that so was thinking about buying some. Is there any you would recommend or are they all pretty much the same?
Am doing chinese pole soon too as well so apparently I need something with rubber soles for that. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

MemberSeptember 29, 2009 at 8:33 am in reply to: Practicing spin mode – getting really sick /:I have this problem as well – makes me want to puke. I can’t seem to control the spin so I don’t go too fast. When I first got the x pole, all I wanted to do was spin but as I’ve got used to static, spinning makes me more sick. I have to lie on the floor and stop the room spinning before I can carry on! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Maybe travel sickness pills will work! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_l.gif

I seem to have got stuck recently with my pole so have got a load of old stuff that i find pretty easy now and then all the new hard stuff! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Easy
Most spins – only thing I find difficult is keeping going on a static pole for any length of time before I hit the floor
Crucifix and Thigh Hold
Butterfly and Extended Butterfly
CKR and CAR
Plank
Superman
Wrist Sit
Climbing and Sitting and that one where you lean over (is it the dying swan or something like that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif )
Thigh Hold
Jade – still working on the split in my legs but the position is ok
Gemini and Scorpio – although these still kill after months of doing them!
Flatline Scorpio
Knee Hold – although it kills!Hard
Reverse Grap Spin – why can’t I get any spin on it?????? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif
Any sort of handspring/cartwheel mount type thing – can’t get my legs up (although I can go straight into butterfly – odd!)
Aysha – only got my split grip a couple of times
Elbow or Forearm grip – what’s that all about!!??!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
Marley
That one where you sit on the pole sideways with your knees gripping – what’s that called then?
Iguana Mount
Bow and Arrow with the normal grip behind your bum – can’t get my bum over my hands – can do it with a different type of grip, but not this one.Have never tried anything with a twisted grip – was thinking of trying a butterfly with it to have a go in relative safety – is that possible?
I don’t know why I can’t get the legs off ones yet – don’t know if it’s psychological or what, but always feel like I have no grip – think I just need to trust my hands more
Anyhooooo, enough of me rambling on. Any tips gratefully received https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

That applies for me too hun – don’t know what it is really, whether you concentrate on what you’re doing more when you’re in the studio or what, but there are moves I can get in class that I just can’t get at home for whatever reason.
Looking good tho https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Great video – think I might have to use that to see what I can and can’t do now. Thanks

This is good reading what people eat – it’s odd because you can tell who is english and who is from other parts because of the things that we eat on a daily basis.
Today I have had 2 crumpets with pretend butter and 2 cups of tea so far (about to start on my 3rd https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif )
Lunch is going to be a small bowl of spicy butternut squash soup with a couple of slices of multi-seed wholemeal bread.
Not sure about dinner yet – am thinking pasta with smoked bacon, courgettes, peppers, chilli, mushrooms and any other odds and sods I can find in the fridge, plus abit of pesto and some creme fraiche (schlurp!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rabbit.gif

Can’t work out what spin you are talking about here – anybody got a vid?

Need your opinion 😀Thought I’d put my twopenneth in here https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif It’s more about (how shall I put it?!) "undercarriage" coverage for me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I’d like to have some shorts that were short, but had enough to keep you decent when you do splits, etc. There’s nothing worse than seeing someone’s dinner.
As far as bum coverage, I would probably opt for a medium coverage and a full coverage pair so I had a bit of variety https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Have you put your name on the pole pals map to see who lives in you area?
Welcome!!! Where are you from? Have you put your name on the pole pals map to see who lives in you area?Pole pals map? What is this that you speak of? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I had the same problem with this one. I did it a couple of times but came to the conclusion that my bum just won’t get out of the way https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I ended up using a completely different grip where I reach round the pole with one of my arms and have the other downwards (really good description there! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif ) It’s similar to the forearm grip or what you might use to do the flag with (or so my pole tutor person told me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif )
That’s probably of no help to you whatsoever but hey-ho! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

Rubbing alcohol is just isopropyl alcohol…we usually get it at a pharmacy for food store! I believe in the UK it’s the same thing as surgical spirit…
I seeeeeeeeeeeeeee – tar https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Must try that some time https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
