Rylonn that is a great idea for the studio as we do have yoga mats and I won't look silly doing it either!

Couch cusions are a great idea thanks Runemist! I have a couch right next to my pole at home so i can just remove the cushions from it…easy!

And no we dont have crash mats… The floors are wooden which scares me more than my pole at home which has carpet under it… I know the carpet is not ideal for dancing and spinning of the floor but it is the only space I have to put it and I do like the softer flooring!

Thanks so so much for all your help!! Would you believe I didn’t even think of just practising the reverse handstand by itself? I think that’s what I will be doing!

And I totally agree now about having the hands between the floor and my head as a measure of safety! I think if I keep telling myself that then I will be able to do it!

Thank you so much everyone! I guess I am just frustrated with myself as itbs taking time to get th invert but yet it only took a little while to get other moves.

Thanks for your replies! It’s good to know that I am not alone!

I used to figure skate competitively so I have strong thighs from jumping and am also fairly flexible.

My instructor knew full well how long I have been poling for too. I was eager to learn the invert but yes I totally agree…I hate being upside down!

I am okay with my CKR too, I taught myself that after two weeks of pole but cannot do a CAR yet, I don’t feel confident enough in my leg strength.

Thank you for your tips though, I will definitely practice getting more conform able with inverting then moving my hands above my head. I have practiced the invert into handstand then superman dismount on my pole at home and felt more confident but still being upside down is awful!

Hopefully I will get over the fear in time! Thanks for all your help lovely ladies!

Not quite ready for a jam yet as I am still a beginning and don’t know enough moves to freestyle yet!

I use dry hands on brass poles as my hands slip a little but jeez I stick to brass like crazy sometimes sliding down hurttttsss…

I also use dry hands on my TG xpole and it works great too. I also hairspray my pole for extra grip sometimes 🙂

I have a  medical problem called Hyperhydrosis which is excess sweating of the hands and feel ALL the time, not just while poling. To put it this way, if I put my hand down on a normal piece of printer paper, I'll soak it right through.

What works for me is Dri-Chlor which is very strong anti perspirant deoderant. I put this on my hands and feet every second night when I get in bed and it dries and stops my hands sweating completely!

I know for a lot of people this may be extreme, but vinger, windex, anything doesn't work for me while poling. I use dri hands which helps my grip while poling too.

    Mine creaks too!
And I find it spins so so much faster than the permanent ones at my studio… I sort of have my screws tightened half way between spin and static. Although, even when mine is on static it still spins a bit :/

mine is on carpet too and I didn't measure it or anything… I was determined to get it up without the help of a male so I did it in like 20 mins and mine is fine. It sometimes gets loose so I just tighten it up a bit.

I don’t have access to a gym and can’t afford it so I can’t do weighted squats

I have big thighs AND a big stomach… Sometimes I swear the top of my body belongs to someone else because from my head to my waist I am toned and thin… Then below that my gut and thighs are like HELLO.

want to get my invert! I've only been poling for a couple of weeks (I bought a pole at home and taught myself some moves). Now I've started lessons people don't get how I am able to do the splits and all sorts of things but can't invert…

Hi Veena! Thanks for your links! I should've mentioned that I have been doing these lessons but have no luck with my middle split improving. I feel like one of my muscle groups is tight and stopping me from doing it but I cannot work out which one!

I have also been foam rolling and its helped to relieve muscle pain and my front splits…Maybe I am just impatient lol

Front/side splits took me 3 weeks to get after not doing them for a few years. Middle splits I've never had and am currently struggling with them.
