That sounds awesome. First day will be putting tha pole back up. (Teething pug puppy decided chewing on metal feels good. He was gnawing on our metal coffee table too!!)
It'll be a perfect way to start poling again after a couple months off.

That’s awesome! Although your topic title made me giggle. I’m from MN and was wondering what the heck the relation was between poledancing and butter…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I’m in Minneapolis too!! (Well, technically St. Paul.) I’m a big fan of Bodyblast. I just never have the time to get out there, so it’s mostly pole at home for me.

Doesn’t leave a mark on our bamboo floors. (I think a hardwood would be sturdier.)

In real life.. It’s a song by a group called Toad the Wet Sprocket, it’s called Throw It All Away. It’s about focusing on the here and now, and what’s important. I tend to dwell on the past. And focus on the destination and not really ever start the journey. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
For pole The Kill, by 30 Seconds to Mars… hands down. The moment I hear the first notes I can SEE myself dancing out the whole routine that I’ve created. Never mind that I can only do about 1/4 of the moves. It’s that destination/journey thing again. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

One thing to remember, new tattoos and sun are a no-no. I made that mistake. I think I had to keep mine on my shoulder out of the sun for the first month. Of summer.
So while everyone was busting out the tanks and halters. I was wearing hoodies. It was mega-lame. Worth it, but still lame. My next tat will be in the dead of winter. I know I had to keep it lubed up for at least a week or so. (Super lubed up, used aquaphor ointment.)
Good luck and congrats!

Ohhhh… I’m so with you. It especally happens to me when there’s a ton of people watching. I totally blank out. I don’t have a huge catalogue of reliable moves to begin with. It really narrows when I’m under pressure. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I’ll be thinking of moves I should have done like a week later.
I still haven’t found a cure for it yet. But I totally get where you’re coming from.

I couldn’t get out of work but would like to try to meet up afterward. I’m going to text kittyclimber once I get done at the clinic. Unless the day goes pear-shaped, in which case I have a date with a hot bath.
See you guys either tomorrow night or Saturday!

I got the gatoraid and the bottled water!
Should I bring a cooler and ice too?

I got no problems helping out with some snacks. Also, I have a costco membership, so I can get fruit and veggie trays and various bulk stuff cheap. (It’s like a Sam’s club membership.)
I can’t do dinner but would love to be able to join up with the group later after I get off work if possible. I wanted to try to get the day off, but alas am now out of PTO. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif So I’ll just have to content myself with the "mature" portion of the evening. Also if we stop at DejaVu we HAVE to go to SexWorld. It’s a law in MN you know. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

Bodyblast is in a office/warehouse park. It kind of looks like it’s in the wrong location. The couple times I’ve been there I’ve been sure that I was in the wrong place almost until I pulled up to the door. Fair warning too. We’re expecting a couple storms. They should be over long before Friday but in case anybody is coming in early just be warned.
Joel, you have to take her to the Mall of America. It’s something everyone should experience at least once.
Did anyone decide on a Friday night outing? I won’t be able to join up until about 10 or so but after that I’m game.

yeah, if anyone needs help with transport i’m in Downtown St. Paul. (30 Min north of Eagan) I’m in Texas rignt now so my access to internet and SV is sketchy right now, but let me know and I’ll get back to you. I’d volunterr floor space but we live in a loft and my hubby might be put off by a Studio Veena sleepover and no bedroom to retreat into. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

ohhh….. I’m in. I think we get paid again before then so I can probably pitch in for a veggie tray or two and some sodas. Thank god for the Costco membership!!
i’m so super excited, and it’s awesome to have some good news this week.

Hanve you SEEN the olympic women’s Volleyball team lately? I think that’ll work just fine. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I think that the person who said "Authentic pole dance is a dying art form" obviously has never been exposed to pole dance outside of a strip club. Take for example Chinese pole dance. There are many other forms of dance performed around the world that can be safely called pole dance that use the same moves. (Chinese pole uses the flag for example.) They just don’t include hotpants and five inch heels. Since no one can even agree on standard names for moves, to declare that you know what "authentic" pole dance is irritates me. It’s a pretty ingorant statement, what makes that dance beautiful is the timing and grace with which she performs it. Not every preformance needs to be prowling and dripping with sensuality.
This occurs in other forms of dance too. Look at ballroom dancing. You can have a plain Foxtrot. Or you can have a melt your clothing off, steam up the windows Tango. Doesn’t change the fact that their both dances, also doesn’t change the facet that the Foxtrot could be technically perfect and just as fascinating to watch.
What I think is wonderful about pole dance is the variety of styles, and honestly some of my favorite videos are the ones that are moce focused on routine and grace and musicality, than what can I shake and flash? Don’t get me wrong, I think to truly learn pole dance you need to learn both styles. Sensual and athletic. But I think there’s more than enough room in the world for everyone to have their own interpertation.

Tap shorts or dance shorts keep my ample rear covered. Too bad they cant make it appear smaller. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I’m saving up for a couple pairs of poleskivvies now that she’s making them in a little larger sizes.

I can access everything but the vids from my palm pre. And do. At Work.
Probably more frequently than I should. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif -
BOTTOM LOADING!!!!
This is awesome. Taking my pole down and putting it up is literally TERRIFYING. It’s 10.5 Feet and that’s a long ways up in the air on our wobbly ladder. Can’t even brace against the ceiling because that another 4 feet up. It’s not a good thing at all.
I wonder if I could talk hubby into letting me order a 45mm TG after I get my crash mat. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Guess I’ll wait until I see what the US prices are. From what i’ve seen it’s be more practical to order a new pole then the converter kit.

Hey hon,
I keliod scar no matter what (even acne leaves keliods). I had one on my knee that was painful when I was little. My mom put cocoa butter on it to help it loosen up. As I’ve grown it’s stretched and loosened up a bit so it’s not so stiff.
I second bio oil. Also try Lush Cosmetic’s Therapy massage bar or straight cocoa butter. It really helps with scars and stretch marks.

MemberNovember 19, 2009 at 7:58 pm in reply to: You shouldn’t go to strip clubs and heckle the strippersI think a lot of time it depends on the club.
Like the club in MN Veena mentioned, Sinners. The pole work is crazy, and the have a SWING that the girls do arieal work on, too. I even spoke with one girl that will bring a book on stage and hang in a CKR and read if no one’s tipping after the first minute or so. For some reason, it always gets her tips. At the time she was reading Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Another good MN club is DejaVu, there’s girls there that will ROCK the pole. (30? foot pole no less.) I mean they jump from the second floor grab the pole on the way down and do tricks until they hit the floor. They also host polelmypics once a year. Also if you tell the girls that you there to see pole moves a lot of the time they’ll step up the moves because they know they’ll be appreciated.
Then there’s clubs where girls just lean against the pole and sway, or worse there’s clubs with NO pole and just a stage. (Great floor work tho.)
I think it all depends on the atmosphere, if you can get away with just standing there and shaking your ass then that’s what you do. But if someone raises the bar, then you kind of have to keep up.

MemberNovember 15, 2009 at 9:55 pm in reply to: So when you take down your pole and clean it…I have a chrome x-pole. First time I cleaned it I used oil cutting shampoo.
This time I used dishsoap and a microfiber cloth. It was kind of funny. I’ve had my pole for a couple months and it’s been super slippery. I must’ve not gotten all the shipping wax off. Now it’s fine, I guess the moral is always clean your pole twice when you’re super excited to put it up.

They’re on to you Kitty!!
That’s a good Idea, I’ll have to start voting from work too.

Don’t feel bad. I have never been able to do a cartwheel. EVER. I failed 6th grade gym because of it. 22 years later, I’ve made peace with it, and am hoping I’ll be able to do a pole cartwheel someday instead.
I would look for a different class if I were you. Your coach sounds like he’s a jerk. And maybe a different teacher would have some insight into WHY your body won’t go that way.

Welcome!!
