  • Pole does not discriminate. You can be any age, any shape, any level, heels or no heels, and the great pole deity accepts and loves us all. Lol. Too embarrassed to give my age, just a happy pole queen, never poled until faced with the burden of powering through a horrible divorce.

Is this an entire body roll supported by back shoulders and you grab pole in downward cup position? May have seen this. But you need to clarify a little more l think. It may not even have a name, but it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist, it may have several names. Good luck with that.

Thanks for this post. Sometimes my back feels super strong and flexible, yet other days, the exact opposite. So my new training goal is to work on what feels great and slowly progress on to other things. Ballerina move, l couldn’t do because of back flexibility, or lack of,then l jumped on the pole and surprised myself. It gets down to good workouts and other days just meh workouts, l guess.

This may sound lame, but maybe pick a song, see if the song inspires you to visualize a color, a character, a feeling, then add on to that. Like a costume, a scarf, a prop perhaps. Watch other pole performances to see what you liked and do your interpretation of that idea. Maybe video tape yourself to a possible performance song, then watch your performance and see what you thoughts come to your mind and build on that. Good luck.

Men strip, yet they seem to not be labeled in any derogatory terms. Good old doubled standard here

Sometimes you need to walk away, it makes you only appreciate pole more when you go back. It’s like a bad boyfriend, bruises, dings, red marks. But we keep going back to conquer that pole into submission. Lol. Have a great new year, and may pole bring you a new awareness of your strength.

I went to way advance classes, bootstyle also. Can’t do a cartwheel, can’t do ayiesha (sp). The instructor actually help me flip with a one hand grip on pole doing an advance cartwheel. And l did the other move for a nano second. What did l gain, that l needed to have more upper body strength and l was more motivated to work harder on the pole. So if you need motivation, and it’s worth the money, then go. Otherwise save your money.Hope this helps you out. If the instructor is good, they will usually leave you doing at least one new move, but spotting you. They size up your level pretty fast. Good luck.

I have used a giant plumber wrench, you can put a towel in between to protect, and have used a mallet to hit second wrench to loosen up grip. No man around, had to figure it out myself. It’s clunky, but it works. Wrenches are not cheap. Then purchase those rubber hanners, forgot the name at home depot. 75 dollars or more.

  • Big confession here, broke my ankle. Yes l did, jump on my pole with my cast. But l have to give credit to Veena’s lessons, and kettlebell. It’s keeping my shoulders really strong. Paul Katami kettlebell DVD. Also l read that our muscles have memory, and your strength will come back fast if you have poling for along time. Good luck.

It’s so great you made it work. Marriage isn’t very everyone, but you have the winning pole combo team. Happy New Year.

Been to several pole studios in LA. Have noticed two pole studios do performances, one in-house, and one at a bar/pub of a theatrical show. The other studio throws pole performance parties, Hallowen, Valentine’s day, etc. The bigger studios advertise on Groupon, etc.to bring new clients in since pole classes are high. Finally, membership deals are very strong at one of the better studios, ex. $169 gives you unlimited pole classes for the month but it must be on a credit card with a three month commitment. To get you in their studio, they have $69 dollars for two weeks of unlimited pole classes. This studio is more like a boot camp studio, classes are tough, and they have many regulars.

BAMBAM It’s great you had the nerve to come out to us here . To perform is a feeling that can’t be matched, be it singing, comedy routine, speaking, etc. But to go on stage, means that you may have issues when you are out in public. So please think carefully about decision. You could always put on a wig, do a beautiful dance and post on YouTube or here. You could save up $ and enter pole competitions , which are growing in popularity. My pole studio actually does performances at a nearby bar which is close too studio. They do a excellent show because one of the teachers has a theatre background. But this is progressive Cali. Once you are performing, you will have a hard time obtaining white collar positions. So l am asking you to look closely at your choice and be aware of consequences. But l support your choice to love yourself and be a excellent pole diva.

  • Omg, it’s good to discuss this. Think the fantasy of stripper just follows “pole dance”. This seems deeply rooted in men’s minds. The more we educate and inform people about the beautiful athletic workout of pole, will we slowly bring this to the awareness of everyone. I read 59,000 poles were sold in USA in 2014. It was hard for me to tell my mother. Sent a clip of a class l was in, and that really helped her. It is so nice to embrace my feminine side and feel good about myself. Plus pole help me through divorce. What more can l say.
