Congratulations to you both! Just wanted to join in as im 19 weeks pregnant. Due date 14th august. I had been poling for 3 years so really worried about losing my strength. Id just started to get my SM, and gutted im goin to have to start over. I couldn’t pole at home so stopped poling. Really miss stretching too. I am looking to start a pregnancy yoga class. But if anyone has any other advice on exercises id really appreciate it. Luckily I have to big dogs that need walking, so I am at least doin some exercise. Also gutted im probably goin to have to start from fresh with my splits! Lookin forward to have an excuse to do some polin on the kids playground tho. 😀

Really gutted I can’t come to this. Would love to meet some veeners!! Just wanted to quickly say not to be nervous! Everyone at blush is so lovely and very welcoming! And a mixed range of abilities so you dont have to worry bout that either. Hope you all have a great time and hopefully they’ll b another one!! 🙂 xxxx

It is Blush Dance. I’m using my phone so dont know how to copy the web address. They do a few showcases as well so if anyone is around and wants to go see them, details are usually on the website. 😀 xx

So gutted I can’t make this. Specially as its with my studio!!! Would have loved to meet some veeners. You’ll all have a great time.. Becky is an amazing!! I expect to see lots of pics and videos!! Xx

it is just for a showcase, not for a competition. 🙂
In my mind, I know a jade should be completely flat, and I know other girls will more than likely do a flat jade in their routines! I don't want the audience to look at my not so flat jade and compare it to the others.
I'm just gonna have to stretch EVERYDAY untill the showcase!!
Thanks ladies!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Only one of them is working. The blue lights flash more than the red. Think that could be because the red is only in the heel. BUT i love them. Just need to get new batteries for them now, and find somewhere else to wear them than just my pole room. 🙁 xxx

I like the cupid to be facing the audience but then when I move into butterfly, to me it doesnt seem to be at the best angle. So I have to think what move would I like to showcase better.
Leg hangs never go right for me! lol.

is this the spin where you do a back hook into a figurehead?
Here's a video where they do it at the beginning. (if it is the one you are talking bout)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AY1gD4LaBnY
It's the first couple of spins they do. Unfortunately I can't do it, but ive heard you need to arch your back to get your arm through. In these spins in the video tho, they dont flip over their top hand. I think your meant to flip it if you want to go into a shoulder mount doing a cupped grip.
Hope this helps! x

Even though i wouldn't like to admit it… i consider myself an online dating expert. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
I have been on too many dates to count and have had some relationships from them. Longest being 9 months. There are definitely pro's and con's to internet dating. A pro being you get to find a lot more info on someone than you wouldn't in a bar, get to pick who you think is good looking or not. But the big con being are they telling the truth.
Once I'd done the initial getting to know someone on the internet site, I would then use something like msn or skype (video skype is brilliant cos you can see what they really look like) to get to know someone a bit more. Then after I was 100% sure they were who they said they were and I liked them I would exchange numbers, have a few calls and see from there.
The main thing is to be safe if you did decide to go on a date, go to a place you know. Tell someone you are going on that date. I even got the guys registration plate from his car to tell someone. (That could be a little over the top but you can never be too safe.)
You will still end up going on bad dates… there is no denying that. But I found internet dating fun, and i had a lot more confidence than I would in a bar environment with approaching men. My mum met my sep dad on the internet and they have been together over 10 years. If im honest my boyfriend now was not off the internet. But I still tell people to give it a go…. just be safe! 🙂
Btw… i am 25… i had been internet dating on and off from 18 – 23. (hhmmm… maybe i shouldn't admit to that as well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)
Good Luck!! 🙂

I really struggled with the superman… ive got a vid on here showing different ways to get into a superman…
https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/4dcfe1ff-5a08-4dac-9508-41e00ac37250
First is the usually gemini, side V, to superman
2nd is flatline scorpio to superman and this was what helped me to get the superman.
3rd is from the floor, I find this quite difficult but sometimes feels safer as you are closer to the ground. 🙂
4th is from the pike hip hold. Becca Butcher showed me this was too! 🙂
It was all about my hand positioning that helped me…. needed my top hand to be higher and let me hips lower slightly so I was balanced properly!
Hope this helps, as I know this month was my biggest nemesis…. now its the shoulder mount! 🙂
-
i got my email update saying it was live!!! very exciting!!! 🙂

Charley…. i may just quote everything you have just said… that was exactly the point I was trying to get across. I orginally started writing it with the intention of not mentioning stripping or exotic dancing at any point…. but it is impossible not too… I cant deny the fact that it exhists and it is actually an important part of the development of pole dancing. If it didnt happen in the clubs would we be doin it for fitness now?!
-
Thank you sssooo much for all the help! Starting to write it now. Thanks Runemist34 for the tip on if i mentions strippers, this will then what they will picture. 🙂 I just wish I was better on the pole so can do it justice. But will just have to explain how amazing it is.
I think I might do a demonstration on why I have to wear so little…. like a teddy and a jade to show the skin grabbing, I have mentioned about Chinese pole too where you can be fully clothed. (By the way…. i have no issues with strippers…. I used to work in a bar myself. Just dont think the ladies of the W.I would 'get it' 🙂
I wanted to show some clips of felix or alethea, etc. But there will be about 30 – 40 women and they wudnt all be able to see my laptop. 🙁 so everything will have to be on handouts. Does anyone have any suggestions on pictures? I am going to printout some competition posters, like the pole art one (which i think is beautiful)
And V, thanks for the idea about moms getting back into shape…i want to be able to relate to them and ths is a great idea.
I need to start thinkin of a routine now as well… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
Thanks for the help…. and obviously will still appreciate more suggestions…. i think I have written about 5 mins worth…. just another 25 to go. 🙂

maybe do a mini "birthday party dance"…. dance to your favourite party song… or the cheesiest. I have a few in mind. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Fill your pole room with balloons…. (although cud end up being amusing once goin back to the floor.) Anything "partyish"… hehe.
I'd love to celebrate Studio Veena somehow…. dnt think I would have stuck with pole without the support here!!! 🙂 xxx

Hey!!
The superman was my nemesis!! I thought I was never going to get it, then my teacher showed me a different way of getting into it from a flatline scorpio! Ive put a video up on here titled superman! With 4 different ways of getting into it. The last one is the one that emotioncatcher talked about, coming from a pike. I struggle with this one as my hand ends up to close to my bum but does mean you dont have to do the turnover for the superman.
Hope it helps!!! 🙂

MemberMay 15, 2011 at 4:51 am in reply to: Anyone achieved splits success from scratch?I have no background in dance or gymnastics. (i hated everything like it when I was in school) so i am not very flexible at all. But like most polers… i wanted to achieve the splits to help pole, (stupid jade)
anyway… ive been poling for over 1 and a half years now, and have seen a HUGE difference in my splits. I must admit… I don't stretch everyday. But when I have a really good pole practise which gets me really warm my right leg lead splits is ssssoooo close. I have recorded all my progress, and as soon as my bum actually hits the floor, i'm going to post it. I definitely think if I stretched everyday, it would make a difference but most of the time I am just too busy. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Id like to see peoples before and after pictures, definitely helps you on your splits journey to know it can be done!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Quite like to dance to a song from the year you were born! I love the fact that pole is for any age!!! Also had a look at some songs from my year, which I had not even realised where released then. lol.
Also think it could be fun to dance to a different language, I have a few italian songs. But think I would try and do something different for the challenge. 🙂
-
Couldn't help but being nosey…. Fallowfield is pretty much down the road from me!!!!! 🙂 Bout a 20 minute drive. So if you r ever up for a pole jam or anything… let me know. (Im pretty much on here everyday!!) lol.
I miss my pole buddy (lozzii)!! you definitely pick things up quicker I think when you have a pole friend…. and someone to compare bruises with!! 🙂 xxx

damn…. i wish I had a bigger shower… i think id get stuck if I tried any strecthing… and that would be an interesting one to explain. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Alethea Austin has to be up there with one of my idols. I love her style and think her floorwork is amazing! Ive been lucky enough to have a workshop with her. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Shadow (Amanda Duffy) is defo the queen of spin in my mind… this is the video that made me fall in love with her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSj377tqBB4

id be interested to find this out too. (im from the uk 2) I was doing really well last year with my splits progress.. and now i feel like im back to square 1.
Do you always need to warm up before strecthing? or can you do stretches but just hold them for a much shorter time if your not warmed up? x
