I haven't read the others responses so someone may have said this already. I told my now boyfriend on our first date that I pole, exactly what it's about (I remember being militant about how I was NOT AN EXOTIC DANCER AND NEVER DO IT NAKED haha I'm sure he thought I was nuts!) But I would never want to date anyone who wasn't okay with it. It is a big part of who I am and if you don't like it then don't date me. Same with my tattoos, if you don't like them don't look at them! I realize it's not for everyone but I personally couldn't date someone who couldn't accept it especially when there are so many men out there who do accept it. This weekend I went to a tattoo convention and my friend's husband got a pole dancing pin up inked on his forearm, talk about supportive!

I have the same problem! I used to teach two pole classes back to back thursday evenings and then sometimes go out to the bar after and friday mornings at work I was always exhausted. I felt exhausted yesterday at work as well since it was day 6 of work in a row and I had worked two nine hour days (630am – 330 pm) monday and tuesday. Mini I have to be at work at 6:15 most days so i feel your pain!!! I always feel bad because i get so exhausted and I pound 5 hour shots and the pink rock stars like it's my job on my long days. I feel super tired today too even though it's my day off but I got my period yesterday and I am getting over a sinus infection and bronchitis so I'm wondering it it's related to that. I hope it goes away because it's annoying!

I competed last year in a regional competition and took third so I have some advice but I've only done it once so far…

I have big boobs too and i don't even use double sided tape I take clear duct tape, roll it together and use that on my ENTIRE top of my bra. I know it sounds like a bad idea but by the time my 5 mins are up I have sweated enough to loosen the tape. It's never been very painful for me to take off but try at your own risk I'm sure double sided works fine too. I just use duct tape because it's thicker so it covers more area. My boobs literally are waiting for their first chance to pop out and all it takes is a simple inversion. I also wear pasties ALWAYS. I don't ever intend on showing them but if my boob does pop out, I will know my goodies are covered.

If you are competing I actually would say choreograph every second of the routine unless you want to freestyle but don't expect to get a good score in terms of polish if you don't have it all planned out by the second. You should know the routine inside and out and do it with and without music. Your music could go out like Phoenize Kazree's and she did the whole routine anyway and then won the damn thing!!!!

Also pack more than you think you will need. It sucks to carry it but you will be super happy you brought everything if you or someone else needs it.

Allllsoooo….I know it's a competition and everyone wants to win otherwise they wouildn't be there but it's important to me to remain friendly to your competitors. They are the only ones that know exactly how you are feeling and just because someone else wins doesn't mean yours sucked it just means it might not have been what that particular competition was looking for. Hope this helps a bit!

Joalex that is silly!! I hope they realize what a crowd that would draw, I've mentioned it to all our band friends and every single one of them was like YES!!!! The only person who wasn't so crazy about it was my boyfriend!!! We have the opposite problem 🙂

I'm a pin-up rocker girl with the tattoos to match haha my poor mother. My boyfriend is about 90% tattooed minus his face and his hero is Nikki Sixx, we get the best looks when we're out together!!! I usually do burlesque inspired performances but when I pole at home it's always to rock music. My boyfriend is a hair stylist and he has about 15 clients in bands, as soon as I get my x-stage it's on!!! I have done a video to a song by my friend's female fronted metal band and that's their youtube video with the most hits https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Michelle Mynx teaches the one handed version and I think they call it the Marlo there but I could be wrong. One of her students did it during the detroit showcase I was so impressed and it's on my to do list!

Riki I am a few inches shorter than you and weigh about 125 too but remember we have muscle too! And I would be thinner but I eat whatever I want and since I pole I can always stay about the same I love it.

I am under five feet tall and from Chicago too I live in the west suburbs. You seem awesome to know because I am a poler with a pretty heavy burlesque influence and my routines usually always have a fun theme of some sort, sets me apart in the pole world because I can't do the big power tricks quite yet 🙂 I do notice a disadvantage with some moves that involve wrapping your torso around the pole such as a ballerina, I can't do this move because I just don't have enough back to wrap. Yogini is impossible for me too because my torso is so short the weight doesnt get distributed properly. However the benefits totally outweigh the negatives and I love being short in general so it doesn't do me a disservice really. Welcome to the site it's great!

Amy I have read about the sally's brand and it has gotten mixed reviews where the clarisonic has all awesome reviews. I didn't know you needed a specific cleanser though. Not saying the sally one isn't awesome I just have heard both sides of the coin

I was going to ask for a mia for my birthday this month is it just as good as the big one? I would much prefer a smaller version!

I was wondering this too I can get all the way down if I'm super warm but cold they suck! So they will get better with time instead of stretching cold? It's easier for me to sit in the splits the next time the longer I hold them the time before, I haven't noticed any soreness. I try to sit in them for 3 minutes at a time if I can.

Oh and to be fair I am a super slow learner in pole so I needed something to come sort of easy for me 😉
