Lots of people have mentioned many great tips so I won’t repeat them but I will add that poling does not depend on inverting. You can dance and express yourself beautifully workout ever going upside down. ☺ 💖

Yay! You won’t regret it. 😊

  • I hope you find what your looking for. I have two sets of old style poles plus the original extensions but I don’t want to sell them or someday I might end up in the same place you are now. 😕

Generally speaking I think most people consider Forearm and Elbow to be easiest. Split grip is very common and I also find it the easiest. Cup grip is challenging/advanced but an alignment neutral alternative to twisted grip which is not even possible for some people and can cause chronic injuries with long term use in others.

Hi there. I’m also a fellow crochet addict but I’ve never made any clothing. My husband teases me that I’m an 80 year old woman in disguise. Haha. Your pieces look great! ☺

Thank you for your input. A used stage would sure be a simpler alternative. ☺

Ok, I’ve heard of people doing this, but has anyone from a cooler climate ie. not California or Florida done this? I have a student who is interested in putting up a pole in her backyard, but she doesn’t want to spend $800 for a stage and I don’t blame her. I mentioned that I’d heard of people cementing a pole into the ground for a permanent outdoor pole, and searching around here I found an idea by Poledancefan to fill a bucket with cement and a PVC sleeve so that if you ever wanted to move it you would be able to dig up the bucket.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to proceed??? Anyone from somewhere where the ground freezes done this before? If it was the semi-permanent bucket idea would you HAVE to dig it up in the winter months???

I recommend you sign up for Veena’s lessons. Many spins are not beginner stuff. It’s hard to stay confident and motivated when you may be working on things that are inappropriate for your strength/level. Veena will take you safely through strength training and basic pole work that will build you up through progressions to spins and more advanced work. Her lessons are MORE than worth the money!

Good alternative. From what I’ve seen in discussions on this forum there is always an alternative to TG. ☺ Glad you found something that works for you.

I don’t think it’s crazy at all! I think it’s a great idea, and no matter what happens you will have learned some things about yourself!

Have you sweaty-handed girls tried Dirty Girl Poletice? I used to apply dry hands or tite grip constantly until I started using dgp. If I apply right before poling I can pole for hours and only dab at my hands with isopropyl alcohol to dry them every 10-15 minutes. Plenty long enough to dance to full songs!

  • Hello and welcome! If you’re new to pole I highly recommend Veena’s lessons. They are super affordable and the best lessons available online. Also everyone here is very friendly and helpful if you want help with a specific move. Enjoy the journey. ☺

For learning to do any kind of pole dead lift working the negatives can be a great way to build up the core strength needed. 😊

That sounds so frustrating. Is there another class at the studio you can go to? Maybe a lower level or open pole where you can work on tricks individually until your body gets used to the size and finish of the poles.

If he is a Registered Practitioner of some kind you should be able to report your experience to some kind of governing body that keeps track of/investigates these things.

Unfortunately I don’t have many options for studios around here. I guess I get what I get!

I just want to point out that, yes, this is the start position for the seated straddle press but it is also one of the most difficult parts of the move. You can still definitely train other areas of the press. For example; holding a free standing handstand, standing straddle press, lowering out of handstand with control (into standing and eventually into sitting), and the list goes on. Try working on other parts of the goal and you will build the strength to do the more difficult parts. I hope that helps and good luck this is a very difficult and advanced move… regardless of how many 6 year old gymnasts are doing it on youtube. ☺ ☺ ☺

I have been poling for nearly 6 years now. I only just got my split grip Aysha this winter. Split grip is the easiest grip for me but many people prefer the elbow or forearm grips.

Maybe they are a Canadian company. I’m not sure, but you must have some version of the same thing down there. ☺

Also, get a decent Allen key. The piece of sh!# they send you is not helping. It will prevent stripping the screws in the first place.

You will get the screws cheaper from a fastener specialist like Brafasco than from X-pole. I also have bought extra bearings (from an auto parts supplier) to keep on hand should I ever have to replace them.

Exactly what Veena and Phoenix have said! Working the negatives is a hugely important step. You will get better at them if you keep trying!

These are all great! My most recent victory is my pole studio. Since the start of the year my classes have really taken off and I’m teaching 5 or 6 classes a week now. 😆
