For me it was better when I concentrated on really laying back. The twisting a bit just made my thigh hurt even more. But I can also see that if you are not extending the back and are still crunched a bit the pain in both the outer shin and inner thigh is pretty intense.

I am going to go play in a little bit and will report back. I would think bend the torso into the pole to take more pressure in your side.

As in where the pole hits your outer shin? I woudl need to try this when I get home, but have you tried twisting/bending your torso just a bit? The main points really should be inner thigh and side but if you are getting pain in the outer leg that tells me you have too much pressure pushing outwards trying to keep you on the pole.

My company party 2 years ago I wore really high heels with stacks and someone snapped a picture of all of us standing together. I am 5'8" and I think the heels were about 5" with a 1" stack.

MemberFebruary 28, 2013 at 7:09 am in reply to: Do You Ever Wear Pole Shoes Outside of Class?Cap, I have one pair of beeter boots that I use when I am training or practicing and that is it. The only time I wear my fun shoes is for a performance or if we are going to a club. And I usually get bummed every time the day after when I see the scratches.

If you have lost movement and are in that amount of pain you probably have torn it. My husband was even taking vicodin when the pain got really bad and even that did not help (prior to surgery). An MRI is a smart move. Most of all, REST.

I ahve had issues with my rotator cuff for quite a few years. Generally with me not only do I get a nice knot right under my shoulder blade but I will also have issues right between my biceps and triceps on my outer arm and when it gets really bad it will shoot all the way down into my elbow and sometimes affect my wrist.
My husbands tear did nto cause any loss of strength or motion but he was just in constant pain, mainly when he was at rest. If he used it it felt fine. Sleeping for him was horrible. I am similar where when mine is acting up it gove me no problems when I am active but once I settle down or do not exercise for a day or so it just has a dull ache.

I am assuming that the long vs short is ankle on the pole, more extended leg vs no ankle on the pole? In the "short" version you HAVE to be in the pocket, and by the "pocket" you have to have the pole in that fleshy side section between your hip bone and your rib cage. If it is riding at all on your rib cage that means most of the "stick" is on your inner thigh. If it is in the "pocket" the stick is dispersed between your side and your thigh.

Ummm…short leg vs long leg? And the inner pain is just what it is. I can say that it does get better, but I can also say that with having been off the pole for about 2 months and then going back to it my inside legs hang hurts like a mother!

Not exactly sure what you are trying to do? LM is not designed to be used as a stage. There is one girl here that had her dad build a stage around hers but that is not typical.

Yeah, the bills are just starting to come in. The surgery alone was almost $22000, that does not include the MRI's he had done prior at $2000 a piece nor any of his follow up or physical therapy. Luckily we have double insurance coverage. I am guessing that the grand total will be closer to $40000. Out of pocket alone right now is over $3000 before my insurance has thrown in monies. I cannot imagine anyone who does not have good coverage coughing up the funds. As they say, most households are one major injury away from bankruptcy.

MemberFebruary 27, 2013 at 8:38 am in reply to: Do You Ever Wear Pole Shoes Outside of Class? There are quite a few styles that could pass as regular shoes. Look at any of the stores nowadays, most of the dressier heels could pass as stripper heels. I have a pair of G by Guess Mary Janes that look identical to the Pleaser Mary Janes that I have worn to company functions, and I have a pair of platform glitter heels (not THE glitter heels, but a glittered pair of shoes) that I have worn also. However my job is in a lab so nothing but steel toes on a daily basis.

My suggestion is to not push it and let it rest/heal properly. Take a look at these photos. My husband tore his several years back and just finally had surgery. He will be out of heavy lifting for minimum 4 months. What is better, a few weeks of rest or a $22000 surgery and 4 months+?

In writing you would not customarily write "Mary will be at the gate at 4 pm to pick you up. I know you have never met Mary before, but Mary will be wearing a long purple coat and carrying a bouquet of roses. I have instructed Mary to take you directly to your hotel."
Just out of curiosity, how would that little blurb above be written instead?
