But at the same time I have been in pole long enought to remember when there were really really really bad videos going up on youtube all the time of pole "instruction" (and there are still a ton out there currently). I am very interested in learning about her also, her background, what other types of dance/fiteness she has trained in, etc. It is quite easy to find information about you Pippi (not sure if it is recent or has been out for a while) but there still is not a lot about her. I keep seeing this title of "world famous" and "master trainer" but I cannot find any of her background. @bodymind, I do not mean this in a "bashing" type manner; I am just trying to find out more about you. You obviously have made a name for yourself in South Africa and have done a lot to positively promote pole dance.

Generally Pippi tghose who would put out a book that is for instructional purposes is going to geth their name out there one way or another. Would you spend money on an instruction book without researching the person yourself? THIS is the reason that I posted here; there are people from all over. My question was no different than people asking for feedback on different products.

Seeing as I do not have a clear picture of what you are trying to do I will let you know what comes to mind with the names you have chosen:
House of Ribbon & Thorn – makes me think of a craft/sewing shop
LaLa Couture- makes me think of someone who is trying to be a high ened store but is really sellling clothes imported that will fall apart/shrink on first wash. Lala and couture don't seem to fit together.
Glamour Time – Hammer Time- more trendy fashions; does not scream one of a kind but more cookie cutter fashion.
Caravan Dreams – I camp so all I can think of when I see the word caravan is camping/RVing
Dark Orchid -yoga studio or more flowy/hippie style clothing
Celestial Dream – I would think this would be a palce that sells crystals/incense/pagan type wares.

I do not have as much of an issue with wider silks as I do with the narrower ones. My pain is not only from the grip but from my fingers getting smashed together when the fabric tightens around them. I also get really bad cramps on the side of my hand in the fleshy section.

Not all palm oil is bad. Read the page I posted earlier.

I am one who ALWAYS hated peanut butter when I was a kid. I now have a vitamix and make my own natty PB and I LOVE it. My big problem now is finding peanuts without added sugar and salt. Yeah, plain old peanuts in the jar. This is the ingredient list from Planters Dry Roasted peanuts: Ingredients: PEANUTS, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF: SEA SALT, SPICES (CONTAINS CELERY), DRIED ONION, DRIED GARLIC, PAPRIKA, NATURAL FLAVOR, SUGAR, GELATIN, TORULA YEAST, CORNSTARCH, DRIED CORN SYRUP, MALTODEXTRIN.
It drives me BATTY trying to find them without the added crap and usually when I do they are more expensive.
We have to remember that science is constantly growing and there is so much mis-information out there that was in some study posted years ago and is now taken as gospel even though the original study proved to be false. How many of you have even really read a study, not the condensed version that some journalist or Mercola or Dr Oz read and interpreted? AG and I were just discussing the other night the original study about resveratol and how we now know the original study was falsified. So much is based on "well we saw this in mouse/rat studies" but only a small fraction of that actually translates into humans. We all know that saccharine causes cancer right? It says right there on the label (oops, it used to, I guess it no longer does as it is declassified as carcinogenic). Do you have ANY idea how much they fed those lab mice for them to get tumors (I can't recall off the top of my head but it was some ridiculous amount)? On top of it they got a bladder cancer that I do not think exists in humans. I guess what I am trying to say is that if you base your nutrition knowledge on something you learned even 5 years ago most likely that information is no longer valid.

I lost part of my train of thought, it is also becoming quite well known that eating coconut oil will help you lost fat. Yeah, you heard me. Look it up. Try for a few tablespoons a day.

AerialGypsy, not all trans fats are bad for you. There has been a lot of research that has been out for about 10+ years and is finally hitting mainstream. I so totally know you are a geek so I am linking a relaly really really good article about the different fats. For anyone else who wants to learn a LOT about the different fats, I highly suggest taking the 20-30 minutes to read this; even bookmark it.

I forgot to add @ teapartie, you need to get your body fat measured. Even a cheapy plastic caliper will give you a good idea if you are moving in the right direction.
-
@teapartie, in response to your original question, BMI is a waste of a calculation. Most bodybuilders and even many of the people on this site would be considered obese by the BMI index. Plus you can be skinny fat on the BMI index and totally unhealthy and still be in a low range.
I will reiterate, DIET is everything. Stop putting overly processed foods into your mouth, eat good fats, have a balanced diet of proteins/veggies/fruits/carbs, keep stress under control, eat whole grains.
I have gotten into "fights" on this board over proper nutrition and I will not do it again. What I can say is that the national guidelines will only get you fat. My husband can eat starchy carbs and lose weight. When I was in my early 30's I could too. I cannot now. You need to arm yourself with research and experiment. Try something for a few weeks, if you see good changes, continue, if you don't switch it up.

I highly suggest picking up the eat clean diet by Tosca Reno. Pretty much any library carries it. The fact that you are even asking is a step in the right direction!

There are quite a few threads on here about older women who are competing.

Look at your diet. The only time in my life I ever had a flat belly was when I was eating clean (and doing cardio 3x a week).

Check the level. It does not appear that you have installed it straight up and down.

MemberOctober 24, 2012 at 9:22 am in reply to: X-Pole Presents: Michigan Dance & Air Festival 3/22-24 2013The way I read it on FB, it is $35 for performers for the weekend, $35 per day or $50 for the weekend for non-performers.
"Announcing Prices! Performer Reg – $35 (includes weekend pass), $35/day OR $50 for the entire weekend!"

Hairspray works well too. May cause extra grippage.

Lesson learned: don't let people do stupid stuff on your pole!! Luckily the B pole should not be too terribly expensive.

I would never mix pole sizes for a show or competition. Typically one is in static and one is in spin. It is hard enough for people to prep on one size or another, you don't need to add more difficulty by changing sizes up on them.
As for SSA, I would never use this for a show or competition. I have quite a few issues still with the SSA but the biggest for a show would be the height of the pole. Even though the SSA will not tip all the way over I still have had one "walk" on me and that is very un-nerving, even more so for those that have never experienced it. For smaller/shorter people it may not be an issue, but me with heels on totally changes things. Don't get me wrong, I have shifted an X stage on power moves but not as routinely as I have shifted an SSA.

Webmaster just answered this question this morning. As for the bottom loading question, ALL XPoles are now bottom loading.
"Our orders ship directly from the X-Pole warehouse and are transmitted there immediately after you place your order. Typically it takes about 2 to 3 days for X-Pole to ship the pole at which point you will receive tracking information for your order.
Once it has shipped it will take between 2 and five days to arrive at your door.
@littlelindsay – Our Canadian orders actually ship from X-Poles Canadian warehouse and have the same shipping times associated with them. The difference with canadian orders is that it can take two days longer for us to get shipping informaion. Often times our Canadian friends have their poles before tracking info is available to for the pole."

I would also replace your x joint. If it spun and is the old style (more than a year old) then it will continue to spin with your new B section.
Did you roll the pole section on the ground to be sure it indeed was bent?
