    Has anything changed in your life?  Stress and a poor diet can cause issues like this, as well as just getting into a rut.  There is another current thread talking about plateaus.  This seems to be the time of year when a lot of people go through them.

    As many have said, work on polishing the tricks.  Try doing them on the opposite side.  See how long you can stay up on the pole and how many "tricks" you can flow together without touching the ground.  See how slow you can make a move or how fast.  Hold it the longest time you possibly can.  Play with hand placement, foot placement, what would be the best angle if you were giving a performance.  Handstands, shoulder stands, forearm stands, headstands…work on lifting into them.  Get that body roll as slow and low and sexy as you can.  Work on ways out of an invert.

    It means it is not a true XPole but a cheap knock off that looks like an X pole. 

    In this thread not only are there signs but XPole aslo chimes in to let you know if yours is real or fake.

  • Outside leg hang you really need to have the free leg as far away from the pole as possible to give the counter balance.  It really helps if you have a super strong invert.  You hips need to be at the pole before wrapping the legs at all.  If your hips are up there and your body/legs straight it is nearly impossible to have your hands in the way.

  • This one for me is easier to go into switching from an outside leg hang first.  For some reason it is difficult for me to get the pole just in the right place.  I have to start this with the pole right in the sweet spot on my waist or it will never happen.

     

    I practice this one from the ground as a stretch.  I have them lay on the ground with the pole at their side and their knees bent.  I then have them bring that inside leg into position and then try to lower/straighten the outside leg.

    When I started in pole 45 was not even an option.

     

    I wish someone would have told me how much money I was going to spend on bras, booty shorts, shoes, tank tops and music!  Oh, yeah, and classes and workshops.  I really don't want to sit down and work out that figure…..

    This looks like the old style XPole.  Did you recently buy it?  XPole has not sold this style for a few years so if you just got it new there is a very good chance it is a fake.

     

    As for installation, sorry, clueless on that style.

    On the cross knee you really need to have the crossed foot pointing back at your shoulder.  The pole rests in the bend of the knee.  If you are sitting in a chair cross the legs like you would for this release and try to bring that foot as close to your hip as you can with as little gap as possible…this is pretty much the same position you need to be in.

     

    And yes, a smaller pole will make this more difficult.

    It really all depends on your application.  Someone who uses a pole at home is going to have different needs/preferances than someone who is opening a studio or someone who performs in different places.

     

    For my first pole I was looking for something that was safe and cheap.  Those were my only two concerns.  I would still have that pole and I would still be happy with it had I not won an XPole.

    Most of the thigh hi's that do not have laces are just a coated lycra material and will rip the first time you use them on the pole.  There have been quite a few threads on this.  None of the companies will replace them as they will tell you that the shoes/boots are not designed for pole dancing.

     

    Also, thigh his are extremely hot on your legs.  If you are a leg sweater they are horrible.

    What kind of pole did you get?  Most are easy to install but I suggest following the directions and not trying to second guess things or skip ahead.  There are specific ways each pole needs to be installed for it to be safe.

     

    Lots have named their poles.

     

    I know a lot who have rooms and areas dedicated to their poles (I call them the lucky ones).  Usually mood lighting, a decent stereo system, mirrors and some sort of camcorder are the next purchases, not to mention all of the cute booty shorts, tank tops, sports bras, wipes, grip aids, etc etc etc.  Oh, and music music music!!!

    Vagina monster seems like the most ridiculous move of all time but men seem to love it.

     

    Anything that is slow, sensual where you are rubbing your hands all over your body or the pole, showing off your butt, splayed legs, ANYTHING that looks like you are having sex with the floor or the pole.  In other words, all of the moves we find difficult because you have to be comfortable with yourself in order to be able to work it.
