    hey ladies!

some friends are having a pole party and i’ve volunteered to be the pole putter-upper/take-downer since i have the most experience. however the pole we’ll be using is a platinum stages multi-piece pole, and i have zero experience with installing that. i checked online and couldn’t find any manuals, does anyone have any info that they could give me? particularly in regards to loosening and tightening!

I think the pieces just screw together. As for tightening, there is a large nut between the dome and the top of the pole. Basically you twist the pole until it is tight on the ceiling (there is a hole all the way through that I stick a screw driver through) and then drop the nut and tighten it against the top of the pole. The thing is a good size and either a very large crescent wrench or a pipe wrench are needed to tighten it. If the ceilings are tall a ladder is very helpful, if not then you might be able to get away with using a chair. I have climbed the pole and adjusted when it was loose but never on set up.

thanks chem. can you tell me which direction that the pieces need to be turned in order to loosen, and to tighten? i tried for a second to take one down once, and had the wrench/screwdriver setup you mention, but had no idea if i was loosening or tightening!

Turning the screwdriver counterclockwise tightens the pole.

… I am pretty sure the pole pieces twist off the same way as a bottle opened upright as opposed to upside down.

And I believe that turning the nut clockwise tightens it to the pole.
