Many of the studios are preparing for Pole Con this weekend.  I thought the owner of Poletential was on this forum.

Is this just one instructor that is doing this?  Are you able to speak to the owner?  I have been to studios where they taught bracket spins to beginners and I waitied until the instructor was close and asked her if I could do it with a different hand position.  She questioned me and when I told her I had injured myself doing it the way she showed she allowed me modify it.  I did not want to disrupt the class but I also was not about to do something that I knew was incorrect.

Korinne had posted on FB that the definition of sexual abuse is not just rape but can also include inappropriately being touched or having someone expose themselves to you.

In this situation I would say it comes down to networking.  I would start by contacting Jennifer from Pole Skivvies as I thought she had something on her site with resepect to services (I may be thinking of something totally different though so I am not sure).  Then it would come down to getting your name out there.  I would also talk to Mary Ellyn from Empowerment Through Exotic Dance as she seems to know a LOT about the business aspect of all things pole.  She is an awesome resource.

If we are going to have this conversation we need to understand that not all steroids are created eual just as not all performance enhancers are not illegal.  Even different countries differ in what is on their lists.  I have friends who have easy access to things that we in the States do not and vice versa.  Creatine is highly used and extremely easily accessible but some sports ban its use.  It is not illegal in any way.  I have not researched a lot about EPO however there are Nitric Oxide enhancers that are all over the place that pretty much do the same thing, just by a different pathway.

So if you take protein and creatine and many of the other body building supplements out there are you using science to your advantage or are you creating an unfair advantage over others?  If the knowledge is there but others choose not to use it is that your fault or theirs?  I remember the interview that Amy did with Marlo and also having talked with Pantera on a few occasions….both of them are on quite strict diets and workout schedules with timed delivery of nutrients to their system.  Their physique shows their dedication.  Is their hard work and dedication considered "performance enhancing"?

Do you have the lessons here?  I would strongly suggest them if you don't.  Veena knows her stuff and using the conditioning lessons will get you back in no time.  Above all else, be patient with yourself.  You just put your body through a year of changes.  You will be back faster than you think!

Juicing is eating only foods that have been placed through a juicer.  IMO you lose so much when you do this as opposed to running it through something like a vitamix.  I would never do anything this drastic for more than 2 weeks at a time.  At 60 days your friends is going to have major issues bringing regular foods back into his diet.

We have to be careful with how we use the term "drug".  We injest numerous "drugs" on a daily basis.

I cannot access the PolelaTeaz site from work.  There are numerous studios around Atlanta.  You can also call teh studio and explain your situation.  If the studio has enough requests for a time slot they will create a class.  Worst case you can book private lessons at any of the studios.

I first saw that in a performance by Amber and I think Amy had a tip for doing it that way, too!

Definitely lay off it and get yourself a sports massage.  You have angered the muscles and if you continue to push it you will end up doing more damage.  I and many I know that pole go in for massages at least once a month.

Trust me, you do not want to have to rely on anti inflammatories to get through the day or get a decent night sleep in a few years.  It is just not worth it.

You can try using a tennis ball or foam roller to work out some of the tension in the muscles but these will just give a little relief.  I think Veena has some really good conditioning lessons involving shoulders and back using a resistance band.

Steroids may help with strength increases but they will not help with flexibility or overall performance.  I don't care what kinds of "doping" you may do it just will not help with pole.  I have never heard of this being an issue with those that dance and I see pole as more of a dance than a strength sport.  Now if there was a drug that helped you get crazy flexy we might have a problem!
