I am still unsure and would not know if I can make it until probably the week of the workshop. I am keeping my fingers crossed that a spot may still be open if I can make it.

Phoenix, I don't think anyone was taking issue with the photographer. I do however have issues with APFC using it as a timeline cover photo seeing as there will be thousands that see it and do not see that it is an invered image and then try the move. To have it showcased as art is one thing, to have it showcased on your banner that is also an advertisement for the APFC championship is another. But that is me.

I wish I could offer some more advice. It comes down to trusting your body. For my girls that were afraid of letting their feet off the ground I always worked them through pole holds and then sliding to the ground to prove to them that they indeed could hold their own body weight. Then I would work on step arounds (inside foot near the pole, sweep outside foot all the way around the pole and kind of squat until both feet meet again on the opposite side, then pivot out). Once they started getting the feeling of the step arounds I would have them start putting a little "hop" into it; basically getting both feet off the ground even for a split second just before they both come together. If you keep your legs straight instead of bending to squat the move is easier. It is a small version of a straight leg fireman spin. I also found that with those that were afraid of fireman, the front or back hook was easier for them to grasp and use to get over that fear. One other thing is to face the pole, place your feet close to it and lean back, taking most of your weight into your hands. Take one hand off, then the other and switch back and forth. See if you can get both hands off before falling too far back. This is more of a trust your pole/trust yourself kind of move.
In time your confidence will build. I have issues with fear on some moves that have kept me from moving on even at this point. Whatever you do, don't give up. You will be amazed when you read this in a few months that this was even something that was holding you back.

I think the only reason Pussy Cat poles are not mentioned much here much is that they are only an Australian company and the majority of the presence here is in the US. There have been discussions in the past though on the poles and they are considered one of the better poles in your country.

I know this answer is going to suck but….practice! I will not throw moves into a dance until I can do them without thinking.
As for cradle, when I taught I would first teach the cradle hold and then taught how to spin it then walking into it. When you walk into it: as you are walking around the pole start lowering your hand down the pole. Step with your inside foot near the pole and then sweep both your outside leg and your outside hand up to the pole, while pivoting on that inside leg. Once you have that motion down you can start working on getting that inside leg to the pole. Even with that inside leg kind of straight the move looks cool. You will find that the bigger the sweep with the outside leg the bigger the spin.
Does that make sense?

You would have to check with the shop that does it. I think it is a type of polymer but not sure of the exact composition. Mine was similar to a playground pole and the one studio I went to was very similar. It is not tacky at all….much more similar to car paint.
How old is your pole and how did it get rusty? Have you contacted XPole about it?

Wow…that seems crazy to me. Most moves I can look at and figure out the physics of it, this one I cannot. So is it just the elbow-chest grip/squeeze that you are relying on?

Yeah, it has been which is why there has been talk about going to a universal type naming. I guess in the UK is where the flip is more prevalent but seeing as there have been dvds and trainers and even the PDC out of the UK it has sort of "jumped the pond". Up until a few years ago each and every studio had their own naming scheme. S Factor and Michelle Mynx Academy are two I can think of that have extremely different names (Griffin I think is Gemini and Descending Angel for S Factor). Wikipole was started as a users guide to the moves and what they may be called elsewhere. Unfortunately they got hacked a few months back and the site has not come back.

Seriously, this is called a hostile work environment and is punishable by law. You need to talk to the HR department and if they do not do anything about it, you need to contact a lawyer. An employer CANNOT tell you what you can and cannot do when you are not on company time nor can they threaten your job. On top of this, they should never allow such childish behavior to happen in the first place. I wish that you would post so that we could all send letters to your company but I have a feeling that may do more harm than good.

Saphyre, there has been debate about which is which. Certain schools teach inside as gemini and outside as scorpio, others teach it the other way around. Even when wikipole was up there were both images. This is why most will call it inside/outside leg hang. Do a google search and you will see both images.

I am going to reiterrate here…she did NOT do this move in this picture!
This is an inverted photo. When you are upright and do this move when you pull your legs away from the pole your sotmach is going to naturally go forward, giving you belly grip. When you are inverted and try this your legs are going to pull your body away from the pole making this extremely unsafe.

Can you chopper? You can chopper down the pole until you hit the ground then roll out of it. You can also handstand out of it.

That should have had all of the studios in Illinois (not just Chicago). It is the most current listing that I know of for all of the Midwest states.
You can also check Pole Nation but I do not think it is as current/thorough as the Midwest one.

Notice also her earrings. If she was inverted they would be falling toward the floor.
