Then having explained that I would not spend my money there.  Do they offer open pole sessions that you could attend for socialization?

I have 2 comments. first on the one instructor who is showing/teaching things that are too advanced…a good teacher knows/can assess the skill level of the student and teach accordingly.  If youa re not strong enough to do a move then she should give you little parts to try to achieve before putting it all together.  I personally would not go back to this teacher.  Unfortunately you will run across a lot of advanced instructors that can do but cannot teach.

On the teacher who taught slowly….never underestimate people who teach slowly.  There is a skill set and strength that needs to come before advancing.  There is ALWAYS something to learn, whether it be a little nuance or a different variation of the same spin.  This is where I think you may have jumped the gun with wanting to learn trick, trick, trick.  Did you talk to the instructor (after class, not during) and explain that you were not feeling challenged?  Did you ask to be shown different variations of the spins?

Have you talked to your red headed sister in Texas or the naughty mistress herself out in St Louis?

I did not use grip aids until I learned iguana mount.

What is your background that you are trying inverts after only 7 days?  This is a little worrisome….

And just because I really like driving the point home, the standard plastic bottles that you buy water, juice, pop, etc in never ever contained BPA in the first place.  BPA is used in polycarbonate manufacturing, not in high density poly ethylene (HDPE).   More than likely your blender body is made of polycarbonate.  And so are your glasses.  And that water cooler bottle.  BPA plastics DO still exist and are widely used.  There is so much mis-information about what plastics are made with it and which ones aren't that people tend to think that all plastics are made with it.

Oh, and radiation is safe.  How do you think our planet exists?  Without the sun's radiation we would not be here.

I never said that chrome and chromium were not the same thing, I stated that chrome and hexavalent chromium are not.

I am not supporting nor defending XPole, I am stating simple chemistry.

Based on your statements then no one should ever eat any food from a can, drive a car, drink water from your tap, breathe air, get pierced, use sunblock, take vitamins, and the best one wear makeup!  The pigments in makeup (especially the new fancy "mineral makeups") are metals!!  And green eyeshadow is colored that way by….wait for it…….. wait for it………….CHROMIUM!!!!!!  Chromium picolinate is a common supplement you can find at the grocery store.  Just because one form of a substance is toxic/hazardous/whatever does not mean that ALL FORMS are that way.

This is simple chemistry and yes, I am going to stand on my soap box and try to drive this point home.  It drives me crazy when people call something "chemical free" as that does not exist.  Everything is made up of chemicals.

There is no lead in chrome.  You will not absorb lead into your pores.  There is lead in base part of the pole, under the chrome, but that is not accessible to contact.  California has laws that states even if you have the tiniest amount of lead in your product you have to put a warning on the label.  XPole is in California, hence the warning on the label.

If you doubt me maybe you will not doubt this:

  • I have not touched a pole for months but got my strength back very quickly.  DO NOT push yourself or you can do more damage!  Let yourself heal!  You would not believe the muscle memory that you will have.  There are several pepple who have taken time off from pole (pregnant, injuries, life) and have been able to bounce back in no time.  Also, impressive moves do not make you a pole dancer.  Take this time to concentrate on your flow and floorwork.  There is so much more to pole dancing than tricks!

Instead of fingers down on the bottom hand, try fingers up and just using that hand to push the pole away from you.  I assume you are speaking of standard split grip and not inverted, correct?

I have seen them but they are EXTREMELY expensive!!  For CD you will be looking at 1196 at today's exchange rate for the one with a mat (which you want), and that is without shipping.

The one thing about these is that they do not have a stage and you pretty much have to use  mat.  I don't know if you ahve ever tried dancing on a mat but it is not easy.  Without the mat you have the spines of the base that you will trip over or possibly come down on.

And thank you everyone so far.  Christen is a fitness studio first but fell in love with pole a little bit ago.  She has always had the motto "Obesity Costs, Fitness Shouldn't".  Along with free fitness for military, law and fire she also offers what she calls the Love Program which is a subsidized fitness program for those that cannot afford the monthly membership.  This grant also helps to support that program.

  • …. as long as I am the one holding the whip…hehehe

Tee hee!  I got the swimsuit catalog this year and there was a picture of one of the model with her hands over her head and she had no muscle tone what so ever.  It was kind of sick.  If you notice they always cut them off right at their thighs in the majority of the pictures.

    This grosses me out:

I think my arms are bigger than her thighs.

I had mine up for about 2 years in my garage and a year in the house.  In the original directions that I have for my pole it states to finish tightening the pole while it is up until it does not spin any longer.  This makes it REALLY difficult to get the pole down because as you are trying to unscrew it the mount also wants to unscrew and it creates a big mess and also damages your ceilingl.

It has nothing to do with rest days and everything to do with genetics.

How do you define "bulky"?  The only women I have ever seen that get "bulky" is usually body builders, the rest of us I think imagine things that are not there.

I would think that you would have more issues from stainless than from chrome.  Chrome is plated onto the surface of the metal thus sealing it.  I have been looking around my chemistry sites and have not seen any manufacturer list nickel as one of the impurities in chromic acid.
