WOW…. CONGRATS FLEUR!! I know in one round they HAD to wear heels…
Does anybody know who won 2nd and 3rd place? -
Ouch FreeThe Sun, that sounds painful… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Definitely sounds like an issue with your joints, no fun. They’re not used to being pulled and in certain positions that they’re being trained to get in. Definitely have to take things slow! -
Totally normal to have one side more flexible than the other! I recently took a workshop with Alethea Austin, Miss Sexy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif and she gave GREAT tips on stretching. Keep at it! Everyday! If you want to get your splits, you need to be working on them for about 40 mins every day. It’s okay if it tingles… my legs about went numb. Tingling means your pushing yourself, thats good! Lunges are key. When you attempt your split, squeeze squeeze squeeze both legs into the floor (think… pushing front hip bone back and back hip bone forward). Look straight. This tingles… do it for about 10 seconds and then let gravity pull you down. You should be able to sink down more. Do this about 2-3 times. When coming out of stretches, do NOT just get out of position and move to the next. You need to slowly come out, like about a minute.. moving out more and more every 20 seconds or so. Just keep at it!

I have tried all three poles, Lil Mynx, X-pole, and Platinum Stages.
I find the grip on Platinum Stages to be the worst, I dont know how to explain it but I find them the hardest to grip. Lil Mynx was awesome, but if you dont want any holes in your ceiling, get the X-Pole! You can only use the Lil Mynx in that ONE spot where you drilled your hole… so you cant move it from room to room like the X-Pole. X pole is the best deal for such a great price.
To answer the question about why Lil Mynx is easier to put up than X-Pole….
Once you install the Lil Mynx hardware, all you do is slide the pole over the mount and its good to go, taking about 5 seconds. Where the X-pole you have to completely take down and put back together each time you put it up/take it down.Hope this helps!

ahh awesome!! i actually wanted to do amateur last night, and my friend was talking me up to all the workers about how good i am at the pole and how im gunna amaze them (she was drunk) and then come to find out they said i wasnt allowed to do any pole tricks at all. no spins, nothing… for liability purposes… so needless to say, i was really upset and it kinda makes me wonder if they purposely didnt want me up there making their girls look bad… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Hey there! The shoulder mount was probably the MOST difficult move I have yet mastered. I tried everything people told me and could NEVER get my feet even near high enough. Finally I took a pole dance class and my instructor gave me a few little tips that made ALLLL the difference. Its so hard for me to explain, but ill do my best!! I can post a video if you think it would be more helpful, please let me know! I understand COMPLETELY how frustrating this move is.
First thing, have you EVER gotten your feet to touch the pole after you kick up? No worries if not, you WILL get it.I hold with the baseball grip and thats the only way i can do it… where I cup both hands around the back of the pole, which I think is what you are calling the thumbs down grip. Dont concentrate on having your thumbs perfectly down, and dont concentrate on having the EXACT grip you think you need… it will throw you off worrying too much about that!… at least for now.
Have you done reverse shoulder mounts?? Get in caterpillar position but tuck your body close to the pole, CURL your body a lot, grip with baseball grip, put ALL weight against the pole with your shoulder. Slowly take your feet/legs away from the pole. It will hurt. You may not be able to let go until you get your shoulder used to it enough. Be near the floor when doing this to make you feel more comfortable. And this time…. you cant fall on your head! You can only fall on your booty… so no need to worry about that! This helps give you the FEEL for the move. Now, when you are standing up getting ready to kick…. think HIPS up. I would think LEGS up, but you need to lift up the booty! When you kick, make a V with your legs. Dont worry about it being high up yet. Making this V even if only a few feet out from the pole will REALLLYYYY help you get the feel for it. It reallyyyy helped me. Heres a pic of what Im talking about… its my instructor, Erica http://efitdance.com/ViewPhoto.aspx?ID=182&GalleryID=12&CategoryID=2 Once you get that move and can hold for a few seconds, then grap the pole with those feet!! Soon enough it will all come easy!
At first you’ll probably be walking your feet up the pole, but it only took me a few days to make it look pretty. I know this is a lot, but it REALLYYYY helped me a lot.
I hope this helps… !!

Hi there! This was a toughy move for me also until TADA.. my instructor told me the perfect trick.
You may already be doing it.. but you need to tilt your head to one side.. doesnt matter which. this helps you arch your back for balance, it did wonders for me! give it a shot and make sure you have a good grip!!
