I don’t do my corkscrew like that either (like in that video). I do like like redke, with the inside arm lower, and the outside arm on top- same position as if you were to do basic invert. The tutorial video shows the arms in opposite position & i found that to hurt my upper arm as well as my wrist!

Instead of dropping your legs to the floor (which requires alot of ab strength & control to look graceful), try bringing your free leg to the pole, so that you end up in inverted crucifix.
–Or– you can swing your free leg around the pole into flatline scorpio. This is a bit harder though. If you can’t do flatline scorpio, then you can just get into regular scorpio the same way, (by bringing free leg around the pole, hooking at knee, and releasing the other leg). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
I hope this helps a little, i know my description wasn’t too detailed.. let me know if you didn’t understand https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_monkey.gif -
I got kicked out of chat, and now it’s not loading to let me back in! booo! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Need your opinion 😀First of all, congratulations on your new view on life & positive attitude- it’s very motivating & inspiring, and i really do believe that you will succeed. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
As for the pole shorts- i prefer all 3 types, because it depends on my mood & and who i’m dancing for. The only thing that i dont like wearing are skin-tight shorts, like spandex.. i find them very unflattering. Something like a really short jersey-type shorts seem the most appealing to me. And like someone else said, i too ALWAYS have to roll the top at least 2 times on every shorts that i own.. so yeah, low riders would be really nice!!
For the beach, i’d probably wear moderate – minimum.
Good luck with your business!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

hey gelina!
My opinion is that since everyone is different, what may work for one person may not necessarily work for you. Ever since my 2nd month, I personally tend to pole only about 2 times a week (occassionally 3), but have really long sessions. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif But since they’re long, of course i do not only work on strenuous moves continuously! – i do a big warmup, lots of dancing, try to combine dancing with tricks, then work on new or more difficult tricks till i’m worn out (lol), and finish with lots of stretching. However, many people prefer or are able to have shorter but more frequent sessions, which may even better for gaining strength.
Either way, i think the important thing is to figure out what’s best for your schedule, your body, and for your motivation. Veena wrote somewhere (i think it was in a newletter article) that when you’re feeling lazy, just get up, put some music on & do a 10min warm-up, and then see how you feel.. most likely, it will put you in the mood to pole dance! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_basketball.gif
Other things that help motivate me are watching a couple videos of my favorite pole-dancers, finding a new song that i really like, or even cleaning up around my pole area and making it look pretty! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif and actually, cleaning can even be like 1/2 of your warm-up, so you kill 2 birds with 1 stone, lol. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif

ok part 2- just gotta mention a couple more for now..
staceyanne- for being so sweet & fun in chat, & pretty dancing!
secret-shelby- for her originality, grace, & expressiveness in pole-dance, & for her lovely comments https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
phillypolejess- just watched her sept.challenge#2 vid, and OMG!!!- very inspiring!

you may be a pole dancer if… you find yourself being less of a risk-taker/dare devil than you used to be – ie. riding on motorcycles, driving your car a little too fast, no roller coasters! – for fear of breaking a bone or something & not being able to pole for god knows how long!!!

yeah, that’s not a holly drop! holly drop is a move that redke71 (karol) named, which is transferring from a knee-hold to a scorpio (or from a move that comes out of knee-hold).
The move you’re talking about- i believe jennyne calls that the "sad girl drop".. either charley or bertysbooboo had informed us on that i think. i love that move & still trying to get it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_farao.gifi like the name "egg drop" too Roxy!

I just watched all 3 videos! they were all amazing, but i especially liked 2nd place winner.. she was incredibly strong!!
Thank you doroty for posting the links here! -

I always thought that was 1/2 way to doing a funky monkey.. i’ve never seen a name for it, but i’d call it the 1/2 funky monkey, lol.. but it’s a cool looking pose on its own, so it should have it’s own name! Great job for doing it !!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

hey joni..
i too am more comfortable with my dominant hand on bottom, but it’s best to practice on both sides!
Like kobajo said, push your hips upwards, but at the same time try to push your legs downwards so you can get straighter.. also experiment with how high/low you place your hand, to see where your body will be the straightest.
Like every other move, the more you practice it the easier it will come & the more comfortable you’ll feel! Don’t forget to squeeeeeeeze your thighs together! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif -
Hi cherry ! welcome to the site, i’m sure you’ll love it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

hey spinnifox! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif
i can’t be sure if you’re doing something wrong or if you’re just scared to let go. When doing it from iguana mount, your hands and body are already in position. But, the thing with doing this move from x-ankle release, is that there will be a drop once you release one of your legs forward.. your body will drop lower. Maybe that’s what’s throwing you off?
And why does your thumb hurt? is it the way you’re holding the pole, or because your backside is pushing on it while your body is trying to drop into the move? If it’s the second case, try to position you hands so that you get some space between your body and hands, so that you have room to lower. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
Don’t know if this helps any, maybe someone else has more specific tips for hand placement..
When i do this move, my thumb sometimes gets caught in my shorts, so they end up getting pulled while i slide down & my butt gets exposed, LOL ! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif -
Oh jeez, there are definitely too many to mention, so i’m with Sissy about probably having to make a part 2..

Veena- for being such a down-to-earth celebrity https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Caramel D’light- for being so so so sweet, like caramel https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Sissybuns- for being so genuine & funny

jenny da cat- i dont know, i just love her https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif
gelina- for her booty bouncing & being so supportive
Ok that’s enough for now, don’t wanna take up the whole page.. i love everyone here! -
Omg i’m so sorry that happened to you.. did the doctor tell you if there’s anything you can do about it?
Nothing like that has ever happened to me, but i’ve had 2 incidences of a clump forming under my skin, from pressure from the pole – one on my thigh from when i was first learning the hip-hold, and one recently near my belly-button from doing a very stupid & clumsy cradle spin. However, both seem to go away on their own just fine.
So i don’t know, it does seem odd that this would happen from inverting. Do you think it’s possible that it was caused by the pressure of the pole against your stomach? the pole is hard metal, and i would imagine that if it presses against a sensitive area with too much force that it could cause some injury.
I know of a girl that had something similar happen to her, i don’t know the details though. She was into martial arts, but she never mentioned any relation between her GI issue and physical activity- as far as i knew, the causes were unknown.
Let us know what happens, i really hope you figure it out & get better real soon! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
Aaaaawwww caramel you’re so sweet!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif YAY & congrats to you too, it’s been so awesome getting to know you too.. you’ve totally helped in encouraging me & helping me to be more confident, & you’re always so worried about everyone & caring & responsive to everyone in chat. this site wouldn’t be the same without you & we love you too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif
I too wouldn’t have gotten so far without the help of all the members here, even the ones with whom i havent happened to have talked to.. who would’ve thought that so many beautiful & kind people could be gathered on just one site?? Thanks Veena and webmaster for creating an environment that attracts the best people ever!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_chef.gif -
I don’t think i can be much help as this has never happened to me, but i would think that could happen from a really grippy pole & gripping it too tightly while spinning? what move were you doing? I’d say use neosporin for it heal faster… hope it gets better soon! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
