LOL, I’m sitting here at my desk trying to do the climbing motion to try to figure out what you’re describing.

When I climb the top of my right foot goes against the pole for the first "step" and then the other foot goes in front of the pole, and then right foot takes another "step"….I think. I take it you’re using the tops of both of your feet?

I can’t climb high at all at home either because my cielings are so short lol. I can really only get one good climb in then I’m at the top already. Heck, I don’t even know if I can climb high at all LOL.

To me nothing was easy when I first tried it lol. So I’m going to list mine as hard being the stuff I just can’t get right no matter how hard I try and Easy as stuff I picked up rather quickly https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

    Hard
    Gemini/scorpio
    Inverted Crucifix
Caterpillar (I seem to get all discombobulated upside down)
    CKR from a head/hand stand
    Shoulder Mount
    Pole sit (Ouch!)
Pretty much anything that involves squeezing with my thighs lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

    Easy
All spins (That I’ve tried LOL)
Butterfly (got that one on my first try)
    Inverting
Pretty much anything that requires upper body strength, I have man shoulders LOL

I’m sure I’ll think of more later but this is what comes to mind now…

Sissybuns, was checking out your video. Whats the respect grip please, I cant see your hands as they arent in shot.

Yeah I realized my hands were out of the shot.

Go to http://www.wikipole.org/ and search for "Shoulder Mount". Under that listing shows all of the different grips and you can see the Respect Grip there https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

You may be a pole dancer if….you’re at your 7 year olds gymnastics practice watching them workout and start mentally taking notes on some of their exercises that may help your strength or flexibility for pole.

"I should try doing those handstand pushups. Those will really help my uper body strength…oh! so that’s how you stretch for splits…."

Yup, teachers will always teach stuff on their stronger (or more natural) side first. But they should have you practicing on both sides. When you’re on the right side of the pole, technically speaking, it’s a left-handed inversion (at least it is here!). I am right hand dominant, but am much more comfortable inverting on my left side (simply because the teacher who taught me to invert was taught this way herself). This wasn’t a problem until I started learning caterpillar. My teacher recommends my strong hand as the lower hand (closer to the floor) so when I invert on my left side, I’ve got to quickly switch my hands. It’s not a true problem, but in the beginning, every second wasted not actually performing the move, was sapping my energy. As for the names of the moves, I prefer calling something an inside leg hang or outside leg hang. It’s not as glamorous, but it’s plenty descriptive!

I like that inside/outside leg hang thing. That’s really helpful because to some a gemini is a scorpio and vice versa…

Now about this caterpillar….I’m struggling with that move too. I invert on my left but I’m left hand dominant and still can’t get it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

And sissy did her first shoulder mount yesterday!!!

Lifting into a sm and chopper both take time and training..each day you should be able to get a little bit higher and higher and before you know it you will have it down pat!!

Wooohooo!!!! LOL, I managed another one last night too. It wasn’t pretty though LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

They should not be making you invert on one side. That’s stupid.

When I learned how to invert in class they had me doing it on my bad side, but that was because that’s how the instructor did hers and she never told me I should try both sides so I couldn’t get it for awhile. Then, for shits and giggles, I tried on the other side (which I discovered is my good side) and Bam. Invert.

Like Roxy said, once you get it good on your good side start practicing the other but there’s not right or wrong side.

This is how I got the Chopper and the shoulder mount. My good friend Roxy-Pink made this ab video for me and it really really helped. I was struggling with the chopper and this helped me prepare my body and the muslced needed to do it safely.

This is such a cute idea.
This way if we’re all working on the same thing (per our level of course) we can help eachother in threads and vids and chat and stuff. I love it!

Veena you should do this for October’s challenge. Pick a move for each level and then the regualr challenge and we can do both.

    So much fun!
