With regards to the tip and dump..I also struggled with this for a long time, one person noticed my hands were too high, they should be by your face, no higher. Maybe check that?
When I first started poling I was taught to invert incorrectly and I had to go back to tuck and dump (chopper) for about a month before I inverted again. I was adamant in my own pride that I wasn’t doing it wrong but I was and needed to learn the chopper then invert from there. It didn’t take as long as I expected but it was frustrating!

Yeah my pole slipped when I first put it up-I was scared of breaking my ceiling so didn’t tighten enough. Also had poles at studio I go to that are fixed permanently to the ceiling slip on my from the bottom lol! I was stretching using pole and ended up on my bum with the pole still in my hands!

  • Debs, I do grip right at the top of my thigh , so much so that my bikini line is exposed (another reason why I dont like doing it!!) …perhaps I need to shift it down…hmmm, I didnt even think about that, thanks Debs, Ill have another do and try it lower. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

My work colleagues know.. I figured that Anyone who works with street sex workers has to be open minded enough to accept I pole! 🙂

  • CAR is my nemesis, when I first started poling I could do it.. Even lay ack from it.. Now the pain is SO gutting that I totally avoid it. My instructor tells me off for not practicing it to get over the pain again. Ah well
never mind… It’ll come back when it has to! I’m not bothered.. 🙂

Ok I just watched this and my first reaction was 'I would not be letting my 8 year old do that' not because its pole dancing, as I agree, kids dont associate it with sexy and she was not doing a sexy routine, but merely for fear of her falling from the pole and breaking her neck! Kids have NO FEAR!! And the way she throws herself into that routine demonstrates that.

My fella said, it is only the same as wanting my child to do gymnastics and whilst I agree, gymnastics is a recognised and regulated sport, instructors are accredited and have to meet professional standards particularly with regards to health and safety which is paramount – as a parent you can check the instructors credentials so to speak, which I am not sure you could be so sure of with pole instructors? I know that wouldnt prevent your child from breaking their neck but at least its harm reduction.

    Just a thought….

She does look awesome though, fair play to the girl 🙂

Ah even though I have watched your lesson I did not notice that veena! I mount on my right shoulder and have been sweeping my right leg, so from what u guys are saying I should be sweeping my left leg, yes?
I got my foot to the pole today which is a massive improvement 🙂

Still working on this bloody move!! Nearly got it today- got my toe to the pole but no foot round yet! Tutor reckons I’ll be on the SM chopper before I am the SM invert as I have got the tuck down but not the extension of the legs to the pole. This move is driving me nuts!!!

    Hi Veenas,

I have wanted to upload some videos for ages but dont have any recording equipment other than an app on my phone, so I recorded on my phone the recording of my Level 2 Pole exam from dec 2011 – my first video, and have uploaded it to you tube..you can find it here

Apologies for the poor quality. Pleased to say I have improved a lot since then but I am still very proud of my FIRST vid 😉

I started on spinny and then joined another studio where they only had static poles. I really struggled with spins on static because I didn’t understand how to use my momentum properly, I felt like I should have learnt this first and that spinny was ‘lazier’. Now I mostly work on static and have noticed my strength has not improved at the pace it did when on spinny. I actually think static is easier than spinny now!
I am glad I practice both and have that choice at home on my x pert 🙂

I have been using a twisted grip which I find easiest as I can’t do anything with a cup grip and can do a knee tuck from tip toes (so no jumping) but with slight momentum from one leg. I can tuck easily but I cannot hold the tuck so can’t even begin to think about getting legs extended and to the pole…I’m not sure what to do to get past this tuck phase? I can do a chopper from dead lift so I know I have the core strength, is it my lack of arm strength to do that final pull up to the pole? Help?!

My pole buddy and I spent a Sunday going through all the moves we ‘can do’ and recording them- i personally thought I looked ace until I watched the video haha!! Ah well better to be positively delusional than negatively delusional 🙂 I’ll try to upload when I get to a comp. And hey I still think the fact I can even do something on the pole is better than nothing!

If you’re anything like me you’ll get addicted immediately amd spend most of your time researching pole moves on you tube. If so you will quickly become frustrated trying to find moves as everyone calls each move something different, so it’s sometimes difficult to pin point the video you want. With that in mind veenas lessons take that problem away-it’s all in one place-you see the move and find out how to do it. Even if u only get them for 1 month the strengthening exercises are invaluable, I wish I had done them before I polled (I didn’t know about SV when I started lessons) as it would have saved frustration and injury!
Try not to overtrain at first as you need to build strength which takes time. Also, enjoy the journey, there is NO RUSH to advance, make sure you get your technique correct first time and this will help you out in the longterm. To get ahead of the game with knowledge check out my thread on inverting there is a LOT of excellent advice from loads of members on it 🙂

Got a video of it emotioncatcher? would love to see that move a bit clearer-looks mega hard. Do you think it might be easier to do backwards than forwards like the chopper is?

  • For the first maybe 4/5 months doing 2 sessions a week at most I found my muscles popped up everywhere. I was like, “wow, am going to be ripped if I keep this up” , well, with my body that hasn’t happened. I have pretty much stayed the same now (2/3 months on). I figured it is because at first you’re body is in shock responding to new exercise and heavy exercise at that, once it gets used to it, the muscles calm down. They stay but don’t get any bigger.
This is only in my short experience I must note!

Addictive is what pole dancing is like!! When you start u watch videos and think there is no way I will ever get anywhere near that, then 6 months later you’re upside down hanging off the pole with your ankle, tipping into a chopper and finding yourself in a superman….WOW..Eat that pole!!! BUZZ!!!

I have my xpole up in my rented apartment. I took it down in feb for a property inspection after it had been up since November and all there was was a dust ring where the rim was but it came off with a baby wipe. Winner 🙂 they didn’t notice a thing!!

I didn’t know that Chem! Can’t help thinking that’s a poor do for you guys in USA, perhaps being in the UK is why my experience with xpole customer service was a lot better than most peoples on here?!

If you are having ANY problems with your xpole and you are not happy with it, like any consumer purchasing anything you have 28 days to return it and request your money back.

If I ws having these problems I would be sending mine back and telling them that it is up to xpole to prove the pole is not faulty not you to prove it is…it is within your consumer rights to return the item if it is not fit for the purpose.
