  • I’ve taken a floor workshop with alethea and really enjoyed it. I took a trick workshop with Becca butcher. It ended up being only me and my friend in the Becca butcher so we pretty much paid for a group workshop but got a private lesson. I learned a lot from her workshop. She asked us what moves we could do and what moves we wanted to learn and she went from there. I’m taking a floor workshop with Karol helms in march. I’m hoping to have a great time.

When I first upload a video I tend to look at the high points and I’m like “I did a great butterfly” or “my splits look good”. Once I go back and rewatch them I get so tempted to delete them though. So I can’t really rewatch videos I’ve posted because I start over analyzing and thinking “omg I have no rhythm!” Or think I’m not fluid or pretty or something.

This is just a fun fact for those who don’t like the wrist sit. When I learned it we called it the pussy crusher haha

I'm the opposite of everyone else I think haha. I love all the V moves, I love how they elongate my little stubby legs when I point my toes. I love the batwing, its beautiful!! But I despise the remi sit. I think its one of the ugliest pole moves ever haha.

After trying this move i found it to be easier than I expected. Once I found I could reach my bottom arm around the pole everything else kinda fell into place.

This is really sad but I only pole 2 to 3 times per month. I’m super lazy on my days off of work and when I do pole it’s mostly freestyle and not tricks :(. I want to work on that and pole at least once or twice a week but I haven’t yet.

My views on pole in the Olympics are torn…

I think pole being in the Olympics would be a way to show people that pole doesn’t just mean taking you clothes off. It would show how pole takes strength, balance, and athleticism. It would be great to get appreciation for blood, sweat, and tears we put in to this sport that we love.

But then on the other side I feel in love with pole because of the dance and because of the uniqueness of each dancer. I feel that if pole goes omlypic then we may loose that uniqueness and that ability to incorporate your own style and use expression of dance. I don’t see how the pole dancing that I feelin love with could be judged in the Olympics because each dancer is so unique. Yeah I loved the amazing tricks but what was even better was seeing how each dancer could be so fluid and sexy and add their own touch of flare to each move. How can that be judged in a competition like the Olympics?

OK so I just tried this move the other day and at first was like… WTF? How do I grab the pole with that arm???  So the trick that I learned was to climb up, grab the pole with the arm that gets hooked and then tuck my head and upper body underneath that arm to lean forward and not let go of the pole with that arm so that when Im leaned forward I dont have to try to find the pole with my arm because I'm already holding onto it. Did that make sense? So climb up and keep holding onto the pole with the arm that hooks… I could try to post the video of me learning it if you want me to. Let me know 🙂

Hey I actually have this weird hip popping thing too. It started a while ago like 5th or 6th grade and I’m 21 now so like 11 or 12 years ago. I just thought it was normal lol. Mine happens when I lay on my back or side and raise my legs. Both sides do it and for me it isn’t painful, just annoying. If I’m in an exercise class and we are doing anything that invloves kicking you legs or rotating at the hip mine always pop and eventually I just get tired of feeling/hearing it. I guess at some point I should get it looked into. I dunno if this happens to anyone else but I also started to have this popping in my chest, it feels like its my sternum that pops. It doesn’t hurt either just feels really weird and sometimes actually kinda good, like when your fingers need to pop. Well if you figure anything out keep me updated!

Thanks everyone! It is just frustrating that we keep getting told we are doing the move wrong and corrected after we are just doing what we have been taught. I have never felt any strain in my wrists from doing it either way that i described. If the move can be done multiple ways and each of them safe I dont understand why we keep getting corrected haha. When we were corrected they told us that what we were doing would strain our wrists and the last time we were corrected we tried to explain that. Oh well, Im gonna do that move the way I feel comfortable.
