Oops…I thought this was a forum for "Everything Else"…didn’t see the "Pole Related"….Sorry! =(

CONGRATS!! I can’t believe you actually set it up and then went to class. I got mine set up and skipped class lol. I couldn’t leave with a beautiful new pole all installed waiting for me to jump on it lol. Congrats! I hope you have fun!

You should definitely read all the lingo jargon on the pills if you are going to take them. Who knows if maybe heavy exercise is not good when you’ve taken one…Just looking out for ya!
I suggest taking it slow. Make your movements around the pole more exaggerated and bigger. The tighter you pull yourself in, the faster you go. Like when going into a flirty fireman, pivot around in a big circle…I hope that helps.

CONGRATS!!!!! I know the feeling!!

I’ve been watching your lessons and I walk into it the way you show it. I have yet to try anything on static other than climbing. I really should. I just don’t see how you can do a full circle lol. I would think my skin would stick to the pole.

MemberSeptember 16, 2009 at 12:56 am in reply to: JUST BOUGHT MY POLE! JUST BOUGHT MY POLE!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I checked the track status on FedEx & it arrived in my town!! it was suppose to be here Thursday but it got here sooner!! When I ordered it, I wasn’t able to change my Shipping Address from my Billing Address, so it was going to my mum’s house https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif She’s fine with it…I mean she runs a strip club, but when your little daughter gets a pole…it was a little shocking for her. I showed her this site and she was so impressed and couldn’t believe there was such an arena for pole fitness. I called FedEx and asked them if I could just come pick the package up tomorrow instead of having it shipped to my moms house…THEY SAID YES!!!
The boyfriend is home all day and doesn’t work so he can set up my pole & my new mirror tomorrow!! I have work in the morning and class tomorrow night…I’m conflicted because I reeeeeaaaally want to skip my class to go PLAY!!! DILEMMA! lol…Ok, enough of being dramatic…just excited!!

Thanks girls…
-
So it doesn’t matter then? I’d rather just let it fall off itself than to scrap at it…Thanks!!

Not sure if I can waste any of that =) lol..What I’m sure my skin would taste pretty good if I had some Blueberry or Strawberry Vodka on there =)

SissyBuns…I hear ya!! I rent a townhouse, but luckily my landlord who is like 80 years old loves me and my boyfriend and he comes to my dad’s strip club so he’s all for me getting a pole…lol. I wish I had hardwood floors sooo bad!! But I lived in my moms house until I was 18 and her entire house is hardwood floors…So there were times where laying on carpet is a luxury lol.
I think the wood idea would work because when I am done with my practice, I can just pick them up and put them in the closet…that way they aren’t in the way or anything…I’m like you…I’m not a DIY girl either…I had a tough time at Lowes today trying to buy the hardware to hang the new mirror I got…But my boyfriend is pretty handy and I think he would do it for me…If I figure out how to get it all in motion, I’ll take pictures of it for you and detail what I did that way you could maybe try it from directions? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

SissyBuns…I think it’s 40 inches high…lol. A 15 foot mirror would be INSANE! & AWESOME!! Most gyms have long mirrors but they are usually pieces put together!
-
Those of us at home are most likely wiping off sweat. I use windex and/or alcohol to keep the pole (and my hands) dry.
Like Rubbing alcohol?
-
Are they vertical or horiztonal? What would be best?

I have these from Ikea. They’re only $8 and you can butt them up together to make them as wide as you want
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90049573" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That’s not too bad of a price either!! I found some of those at Lowes tonight for 5 bucks…The only problem that you have to look out for is if the mirror is beveled…I think that is the term…If it is, it will create different images through all of the mirrors. You won’t get one continuous image. Just choppys versions…Especially with mirrors like that which have a frame… (those over-the-door mirrors especially)…But that is a cheap price! And you say they work great!!
I think I might buy some Mirror Tiles…They have 6 for $20 bucks…so I could extend each side of the mirror to come further out…
-
I did try Craigslist and they were all antique old small mirrors…BUT GUESS WHAT!!
I just went to Lowes with my Mum & we found a mirror!! I didn’t know how many different types there were. I ended up getting a Polished Edge Mirror 48" by 36". It’s bigger than I thought!! It was only 39 bucks!! I had to buy the hardware which was about 16. But I think it’s going to work really good.
I really wanted a full length mirror (like ceiling to floor) so I can see my entire body…Check things like making sure my toes are pointed or my hand is gripped in the right spot…So the 48 x 36 mirror I just bought might not show everything, but maybe I can create another mirror on the other wall out of the Mylar Roll…
One thing that kinda sucked was…I emailed one supplier of the Mylar Roll (which had to do with hydroponics) and they said it would look like a funhouse mirror. So that got me down, but the guy I ordered it from and another person I contacted said it would work very good. Can’t wait!!
-
Let me know how it looks I wouldn’t mind getting something similar
I definitely will let you know!! I think it’s going to work out really good. Even if I just tack it to the wall without a back…It reflects 95-99%…It may be a tad darker because of it missing those few %s…But for 15 bucks, a full wall length mirror that could cover 25 ft of wall…It’s not a bad buy and if it doesn’t work, I didn’t waste that much money!
I got my mirror from Lowes and they had several different sizes.
I may still check out that avenue…I was just in Lowes parking lot meeting my boyfriend’s grandparents and I begged him to go in to look, but he has to go to work in a little bit. So I sadly drove away…I’ll probably check it out there tomorrow…What are they like? Are they strong enough to just lay against the wall? Or did you actually attach it to the wall with those mirror clip things? -
Ok..So I ordered this online:
http://www.mylarstoreonline.com/25ft.html
I ordered the 55 in x 25 ft x 1 mil Mylar Roll. I think it’s going to work pretty good for the time being until I can afford a big mirror or even a couple "over the door" mirrors. I looked up prices on the "over the door" mirrors and the cheapest was 14.99 because campus specials are over now. Last week I saw them at Walmart for 7.98 and I couldn’t believe it. I should have bought it. If the Mylar doesn’t work, I’ll just suck it up and buy some mirrors.
Go to that website and check out the pictures…It shows the reflectibility and it looks pretty good!! I know a couple of gyms who use Mylar Mirrors because Mylar doesn’t shatter so it’s much safer. I hear it scratches easily if you are touching it a lot…so I’ll probably need to use a soft lens cloth of some sort to clean it.
What do you guys think? Am I crazy for buying it? Im going to find a way to adhere it to the wall…but I could also attach it to something with a back to make it look like a free standing mirror (like a pegboard or something)…
Ask your hubbies!!

I just found something called a Mylar Roll…It is huge and is mirror like…What do you think if I roll a mirror out…would it work the same way? Anyone know what Mylar Rolls are?
-
No restrictions on…you have to complete this lesson first and then the next?
-
Thanks for the info…My boyfriend is leary about removing the ceiling fan…we’re renting a townhouse right now…we can always put it back…=)

I’ve heard that taking Iron pills or simply a vitamin that covers potassium and iron (Like A-Zinc kind of stuff) is good for keeping the bruises away and making them heal faster. If your body is lacking in Iron, it will cause your body to bruise much easier and faster than a person who is not iron-deficient. Hope this helps!

Wow!! Thank you girls for the quick responses!! I just wanted to clarify…I have a lot of respect for the girls who dance in our club, but I am definitely not in that lifestyle. I do not plan on doing anything outside of my home or competitions. There are no studios for a good 3 hours from my home, so I’m thinking I do not need to get the standard since I won’t be using any other pole than my own.
The pole at my dad’s club is a gold color, but he has forgotten what brand it is. He’s been in business for 27 years, so through lots of different poles, he has no idea!! lol. It’s static too. I prefer to get one to switch between spinny and static. I hear how much fun the spinny ones are and can’t wait to try.
So I’m thinking i’ll get the TG 45? Is there any sense in worrying about having tiny hands if I get that one? Because like I said, I don’t have tiny hands, but I don’t have big ones either…just regular girly hands. lol (Never talked this much about my hands)…
Thanks for all your help…So excited and have researched for so long that I don’t want to get the wrong one. But you girls are right…Whatever pole I end up getting I will be able to adjust to it.
VEENA – I recently heard you are out of TG45? Is that still true? If so, when will the next shipment be in? I’m almost dying to get one so If you don’t have any, I might have to settle for a different one…like the TG50? or Chrome 45?

Do you have poles right now Veena??

MemberJune 28, 2009 at 7:22 pm in reply to: Can you guys tell me if I’m being too sensitive?I have a sister who is seven years younger than I am and she will be turning 16 on June 30th. Ever since she was born she’s definitely been the spoiled one of the two of us but considering she’s the baby it didn’t upset me…but my mom lets her do a lot of things like dye her hair and pierce her ear cartilege that I begged to do when I was her age that were not allowed. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Glitterhips,
I know this reply is a little late, but I felt like I had to reply to this. I thought for the longest time I was the only one who had a situation in my family like this. I am 21 and my sister is 19. My sister gets ALL the attention in my family. When I was 13, I wanted to get my belly button pierced and I wanted to go tanning. My mom refused to let me. But when my sister turned 12, she got to do all of it without hesitation. Now, I am glad that I didn’t get my belly pieced, but I do not give my mom props not letting me do that. I feel a constant…"grudge" between me and my mom and sister. I try so hard by living on my own, paying for my car, going to school full-time, and working very hard at 2 jobs. My sister on the other hand has lived a lot of her 19 years in juvi. She’s a very bad person. She’s stolen my car before (had to call the cops because I didn’t know who stole it.) She got an underage drinking ticket and gave the cop my information (He didn’t ask for ID–ridiculous) and she got it the night before my 20th birthday. It hurt because she hung out with me on my birthday and never said a word. I did not find out about it until one night I was telling my boyfriend about how bad my sister is and where I’m from, you can look up anyones tickets online. I typed in my last name only because I have an unusual one. There popped up a ticket with my name on it. What is even worse is that she ignored the whole thing even past the court date, so I found out that I had a warrant out for me because of it. I couldn’t talk to a police officer about it because police officers have a duty to fulfill warrants no matter what the situation is. It was really hard time for me to get through because I’m going to school to be a lawyer and I’ve worked very hard on building my reputation and experience. My family didn’t think it was a big deal, but I couldn’t leave my house without getting scared because I was so scared a cop would run my plates and take me to jail.Anyways…(I guess I needed to share that and get it out lol), I know how you feel. I just wanted you to know that. I don’t have anyone to talk to about the inequality I feel in my family, so I want you to know that if you ever need someone to vent to or talk to, I will totally listen. I don’t have any advice on how to deal with it because I struggle daily with my mom always buying my sister things and never taking interest in me. She sounds a lot like your sister (no job…money moocher). I’ve been told to look at my own life and see all I have accomplished and look at her life…but it’s still hard to see when you always feel inadequate.
Please feel free to message me about anything. I promise I will understand. =)
