I run a home daycare & one of my daycare moms just saw my bruises on my legs…there are approximately 32…I counted…they are horrible, it looks like I’ve been beat! She asked if I fell. Other than wearing jeans all the time what can I say…definitely cannot say "Oh yah I’m a pole dancer" lol

When I don’t feel that my audience will appreciate learning that I pole dance for fitness, I say this: "I do aerial acrobatics, you know like aerial silks, trapeze, circus stuff".

You could try being honest but vague or evasive. Perhaps tell her it’s from "vertical dancing" or working out and change the subject (without seeming nervous). I can divert a question by laughing and making a joke and then steering the conversation away. Like "Ha ha, looks like I was beaten, huh? (insert funny story about someone else who questioned bruises)". Or "I bruise so easily! (insert story about a time you hurt yourself working out)". Or "I’m such a klutz, I hurt myself sitting still!" The trick is to take control of the conversation. Just remember that it’s nothing to be embarrassed about, some people are just closed minded and not worth the hassle. Good luck!

thanks, I’m not exactly embarrassed but afraid that they may pull their child…people can be soooo closed minded about pole dancing…

I’d go with the clear re-telling of truth if you don’t feel honesty is the best idea. If you are vague they may think you’ve been beaten and may definately pull their kids out. Saying you do aerial acrobatics or that you bruised in aerobics would be what I would probably do in that situation.

I would defiantly say something…I think keeping quiet would cause suspicion. You don’t want people thinking your being abused. Don’t call it pole dance because unfortunately most think Pole = sex job. I would go with aerial or vertical bar work out.

Be excited about it when you tell them, let them know how its sooooo hard, but the best work out EVER and so fun. Depending on the person, I will call my work pole dance, aerial tricks, or vertical bar sometimes I just say I’m a dancer!! Think of what might happen if you lied then a parent found out, it would look like you think your doing something wrong. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

If anyone thinks its trashy send them to the site….I don’t think it looks sexual or pornographic. They can even see examples of the lessons and how it can be just a work out! Remember they can’t watch videos unless they are a member. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif and most vids on here are not of the sexual nature very few…really only the amateur night challenges. Most other moms I have told about it get really excited and say "I have heard of that before" followed by "you can do it in your HOME??" You totally have to spin the exercise aspect of it!

Just try to avoid the work POLE a few people will hold on to that and keep thinking pole=sex….booo https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif

I’ve heard that taking Iron pills or simply a vitamin that covers potassium and iron (Like A-Zinc kind of stuff) is good for keeping the bruises away and making them heal faster. If your body is lacking in Iron, it will cause your body to bruise much easier and faster than a person who is not iron-deficient. Hope this helps!
