Thanks for the concern ladies.
I have come to the conclusion that it’s probably not a "hamstring tear" – it has none of the hallmark signs of a tear. I talked to some of my fellow massage therapists the next day, and we gathered that it had more to do with the tendon that the actual muscle itself. That next day I also randomly had 7 massages to do at work(!!!), some of those where Ashiatu sessions (where I use my legs and feet to work the body) and my leg did great!! I was a little sore right at the tendon that day – but no real pain.
The following day I had scheduled a session with our chiropractor – come to find out my sacrum was really rotated, which I think contributed to the problem! I also had a 90 minute massage directly after my adjustment and we found that my other leg had some compensating issues also.So my conclusion is that with my sacrum being "off" and maybe the fact that I took the stretching a little too fast that day – the muscle probably was fairly tightened, I just happened to move the right way, the tendon was pulled tight and had it to find a way to slide across the bone to get the muscle to lengthen. It sure did scare me though! And it feels almost 100% better already! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Yes – StudioVenna’s advice is great!
Massaging may very well help. All of the small intricate muscles of the "hairless" part of your forearm attach to the bone there (the medial epicondyle) where you are describing the pain.
Those muscles do a great deal of work throughout our day because we are constantly using our hands, and that’s not even counting the dancing portion of the day! If you are able to soften those muscles some by massaging them it should reduce the strain on the tendons.
When muscles are tightened the blood flow is still of course there, but tends to be a little more reduced – and the Ice portion of R.I.C.E. will contract blood vessels helping flush out the blood and fluids that are there (more quickly) and allowing "fresh" blood to flow into that area, bringing fresh nutrients to the tissue and helping that area heal. And yes if it doesn’t seem to improve, definitely get a doctor’s opinion, as it could be an injury to the actual tendon or ligament, which take longer to heal and require more attention .
Hope you feel better soon!
Sincerely,
Your resident massage therapist https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif -

Hi PinkPrincess,
I work as a massage therapist and have recommended a few stretches to clients.
One of those being to sit on the floor with the soles of your feet together and your knees pointed outward (sit "indian style" without crossing your legs) and then use your hands to gently push your knees down toward the floor.
The second thing you could do is – laying on the floor – you will need to get a yoga strap or sturdy piece of rope. Grab one end of the rope/strap with each hand (forming a U with the strap) and place your foot in the "U". You can then, while laying on your back, stretch your leg laterally, out to the side of your body slowly – you can use your arm strength in coordination with your leg to find a comfortable stretch. You can also stretch your hamstrings well this way if you simply pull your leg back directly over your body and up a little. AND you can also pull your leg across the body to the other side and that is a great hip stretch!
Play with it a little you’ll find what feels good! Hope that helps!
