That’s sad! But how in the world did the instructor let her take a level 3 class if she’s never been on a pole?? Are all levels "open"???

Welcome to the site! first I got to say that it is awesome that you were a surrogate! Kuddos to u! Pole dancing is a phenomenol way to get into shape. I was 240 after the birth of my last child and pole has helped me get back down to 150! There is lots of great information and wonderful supportive people on here!

I know what your going through…back in March I got ahold of the owner of a studio about 30 min away from me to see if I could do some open pole sessions. Long story short she asked me to teach for her. The first time I meet her I was showing her some stuff and she kept asking "what’s that called…what’s that called". I was doing things like shoulder mount, straight edge…etc. She’s been running this studio for like 4 yrs..and didn’t know what these moves were called…holy crap! She can invert and do a basic butterfly…but that’s pretty much it. I’ve been an "instructor" now since april but have yet to teach a class…WTF! There aren’t any advanced students and my "classes" are the advanced ones…she has brass poles..but they are really brass railings..and they wobble A LOT!! I feel your pain…and you have to decide if that is something your really want to do. I want to open a studio so I guess I can add this to my "resume"..hahaha.

I personally think anyone who has a studio should be knowledgable in types of poles, names of moves, safety prevention and anything affiliated with pole (Felix, Jenyne…etc)…and they should know how to perform a move if they are trying to teach someone!!!

Thanks ladies! You guys are such great support!

Veena…I absolutely feel free when I’m able to dance with out space limitations. I don’t have to worry about kicking anything or not having enought height to do what I want! I can feel a change in the way I dance when I’m at the studio vs at home…kind of like being at "Roxy’s place"…haha…

Thanks again for the support and comments!!

I’ve heard that they are pretty good poles…I even thought about taking a little road trip to Atl to try one out. I think most of the studios in Atlanta use them…I know Pole Waxers does. If you get one, let us know how it is. I’m looking to get a one pc brass and they seem to have pretty good pricing..

If you are proud of your bruises, you may be a pole dancer.
If you can’t find shorts that are short enough, you may be a pole dancer.
If you spend more time watching women pole dance than the man in your life, you may be a pole dancer.
If you hear a song and immediately rate it for pole compatability, you may be a pole dancer.
If you have spent any amount of time trying to convince someone that pole dancing is different than stripping, you may be a pole dancer.

I love this! You might be a pole dancer if…. hahahaha

That’s a good idea for a thread in itself!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I definitely call myself a pole dancer…I think once you have the "feeling" and you call yourself a pole dancer in your head you should scream it at the top of your lungs for all to hear! hahaha…well with in reason! I wouldn’t do it in church! lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

So let me ask you….do you dance around the pole?? therefore you are a pole dancer!! I don’t think that there is a "level" you have to master before "joining" the club!!

You would think that this spin/pose would be about leg strength but it’s really about abs…you need to lift your legs with your abs…I know it sounds silly…but once I figured that out I could do it no problem! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
