CofC…small world…I know CofC well!
Welcome! Oh Charleston how I miss thee…haha! I went to school at CofC!! Go cougars! lol
It’s nice to see more people from SC joining the "pole" wagon!
I miss Charleston so much…it’s been six years since i’ve been back! My husband and I keep planning a weekend trip but it always seems like something comes up! I mean…i’m still in the stupid state…so it’s not like it should be that hard! lol
Does Goddess have "open pole" sessions? If so, then maybe if/when I finally make it down I would love to go by!

First off….WELCOME!!
I am a huge fan of spin as I think it just lookes so gorgeous! Having said that…I learn and get comfortable with new moves on static first then move on to doing them on spin. I usually use both modes when I practice…as there are some spins you can ONLY do on static and vise versa! I have also found that when I use both static and spin I don’t "plateau" in my strength because each causes you to use your muscles differently. I do think that each compliments the other.
As far as competition…the one that i’ve been to had two poles…one static and one spin and the competitors could chose which if not both to use. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

My new found best friend is my yoga log! I have such tight calf muscles from wearing heels all the time (at work and at home:)). It’s 12" long and 6" in diameter (really wish I would have gotten the 24" on now)…but anyway when doing splits I’ve been putting it under my calf of the front leg and rolling my leg back and forth on it while slowly going into the splits and once i’m warmed up good enough I put it under my foot for a killer oversplit!! It’s amazing how when your calf muscle is nice and relaxed how much further you can go into a split! I’ve even managed to get an over split on my bad side!! Never saw that one coming! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

WOW I didn’t even realize there were so many climbs! Can someone describe the gemini climb or spider climb? They sound interesting!
spider climb is where you do an inverted V (chopper), hook outside leg as if doing a gemini then grab both hands above knee and pull body to opposite side…then repeat inverted V, outside leg hook and pull up.
So you end up doing an inverted V on both sides…so you need to be able to invert, inverted V, aerial invert and outside knee hook on both sides! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Gemini climb is where you invert into gemini but keep your body horozontal….bring your bottom leg up closer to your hooked leg…then move hooked knee up…rinse and repeat. That’s not the best description..but Jungle cat does it in one of his vids at the studio!

I did it and it worked just fine…didn’t leave any marks on the pole at all!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

do you have a death grip with your leg on the pole?? I have found that bringing your outside leg around/forward helps release the tight grip with your leg…but then again I try not to even go into a scorpio handstand unless I know I’m practically at the floor! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

lifting into a tg is just crazy…hopefully I’ll have it someday…I find that working on a slow controlled descent is helping with "training" my muscles to lift!
Can you do a cartwheel mount and a hanspring mount??

So I take it you didn’t make a vid??? lol. It is very frustrating when you want to dance but your mind won’t let you! and that’s just it..it’s not that you can’t dance..you just won’t let yourself…
A few things that help me…
put my pole in a room that makes me feel comfortable…for me it’s my living room
make sure you have music that makes you feel good, gets you excited and makes you want to move
put on something sexy…it’s really hard to dance sexy (if that’s what your going for) when you are wearing shorts and a t-shirt.For me I have to really be into the moment…which unfortunatly comes and goes on its own will! lmao!
Your gonna do great at the competition! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
