I got an at home laser hair removal set from ebay for £60, if you get a good model they work well. I'll let you know how it goes.

Maybe as I build more muscle I'll notice a slow improvement. It's protein with every meal till then!

"Yup, sorry to break it to you honey, but I have awful stretch marks from poling! I suspect it's partly to do with the size of my thighs and all that excess skin/blubber/whatever I've been burning off in the process… I've been using bio-oil for about 2 months and it does seem to help"

If you think you have blubber I'm DOOMED. I'll never have a toned tummy or thighs ever. =(

I think they were fantastic routines, you are so expressive with your dancing. What were the specifications for what the routines should be?

I prefer non competative dance 😉

It's probably best to keep on topic, don't want people to be upset!

This is a question for Veena really and only SV should factor in to it. =)

Rest! It'll recover, perhaps you were pushing yourself a little hard when you injured it.

Relax for a while it'll come back quickly. In fact, if you're still injured you're probably a lot stronger than you think. x

I enjoy mainly the artistic and expressive side of pole and I feel that it compares to cirque or ballet, I feel it would take something away from the art to over standardise. I agree that pole 'language' needs to be universal but there are too many combinations possible, I mean, the Mongolians have 300 words to describe horse colour…Pole is a little like that, there are lots of beautiful variations.

I feel it would make pole more elitist and more intimidating to older ladies and gents who would wish to take it up. I love how with pole literally anyone can give it a go, and the community welcomes them. I wouldn't want this to be lost.

For some reason imagining olympic polers just makes me a little sad.

These thread have got me considering having a pole name now! For me pet/street comes out as 'Posy Broomfield' which I'm not sure if I like or not. Kinda sounds like an 1800s east-end lady of the night. I think it would be a good burlesque name but doesnt really suit how I approach pole. Not that I have any real 'approach'.

    Any ideas yet Runemist?

I’d like to put in my vote for veenas lessons. They’re amazing! I’m learning so much from them, they’re all about technique and I like that.

Also I’d love to know how you feel getting on the pole after your re-op? I had my BA a year ago and it delayed me starting on the pole too.

Do you have CC or just changing size?

    Thank you for the replies,

I have already started taking some yoga classes and I have noticed a little improvement, but I still get the crunchiness.

I may well try and get an appointment with a physio, I was meant to have one AGES ago but it took so long for a referral I gave up.

It's good to know I'm not alone on this one though!

    Much love x

Not sure if it's relevant but 'Dangerous Brian' is the name of a British television character from about 15 years ago. 😉

I absolutely can't get enough of Lu Nagata, her dance is so relaxed and her costumes are amazing. She's just so different and unique!

Good luck everyone. You can do it!

I’m another one on the splits train, I want to be on the floor on BOTH sides by next january. My right leg has always been worse since a thai boxing injury.

I also want to train hard on my upper body and core so I have more strength to perform inverted moves.

Have enough confidence to post a video!

I want to gain a few pounds in muscle believe it or not.

Get a 2.1 or better on my degree.

Find a full time job, a phd or a masters as long as its in conservation/genetics/biodiversity.

Lots of work to do I think. I’m pretty scared for the future.

I think for me it's fear of not being able to balance in the headstand, having never done it before I havent a clue what it feels like. I've been doing veena's 'climb the pole backwards and do pressups' strength building move and working on my core and I think I'm strong enough but I'm just so stupidly tall (6ft and a bit =s) and uncoordinated that I fear I'll just faceplant! hah!

    Thankyou for the advice!

I'll definately try it on the wall too, maybe just a bit more core and upper body training the way forward.

I wash my face with a facial scrub 3 times a week and with a moisturising face wash every day. I also apply doublebase cream every day. The double base is because I have very sensitive skin and get eczema.

Admittedly I'm not always a good girl and I sometimes forget to follow this (like say over christmas https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif) but that's all I do. And of course sun cream in summer.

thank goodness i read this! I've been taught the absolute wrong method in class. I just tried the tests Fleur mentioned and I am just about strong enough on my right but way off on my left. Time to kick it back a notch and get into some strength training!

    Thanks for this great info!

Frozen grapes – let them thaw for a couple of minutes so they aren't rock hard and they're delicious!

In winter – roasted chestnuts! less fatty than nuts and yum.

I mix 0% fat yoghurt or low fat yoghurt with 1 or 2 teaspoons of pesto and a little pepper or chopped herbs and dip crudettes in.

Baked apples on a cold day. Just core it and bang it in the oven it's like apple sauce.

Boiled egg white (I take out the yolk and give it to my bf's ferrets because I dont like it) then I sometimes fill the center with a little sun-dried tomato paste.

    Those are my favourites.

    Thanks for your replies everyone,

At the moment I’m too skint to pay for gym membership but come january I’ll join back.

I think maybe a mixed approach might help? Plan is: mix off all the things you suggested plus perhaps a yoga class to improve my flexibility as my hamstrings appear to be made of rope and I can’t keep blaming my height. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I’m determined to be able to do a handstand this year. I’ll let you know how I get on!

    Love love xx
