… People who were born too late obsess about Thriller and Bad. You can always tell the difference between someone who actively lived through the 80s and someone who lived passively (or was born in them) by what they think of when they think of MJ. LOL.Yeah, I just can’t seem to explain to my younger brother what a PHENOMENON MJ was.

Well this coming Saturday she is launching her new school (or her first school I think) and she invited me to come. She said that there will be a tour, some explanation of her classes, and a show. Yeah, I’m SOOOO there. Perfect way to check it out before taking a class. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

I will ask her more questions about the poles and student-to-pole ratio. I still think I would like to go for the first level though. It is like I said, if I like the class and the way it is set up then I’ll just do the month on, month off deal in order to have time to practice and save up money. IF it don’t like it or something just doesn’t feel right, I don’t have to go back and I’ll have the memory of getting a lesson from MPD Germany. Either way I feel like I win. *shrugs shoulders*

Oh boo! Cable shows that I don’t have access to! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

So I have decided to put in the Charlie’s Angels theme in the beginning of my video (it is only 1 minute anyways). Just as a tribute to Farrah Fawcett because even though I’m not old enough to have watched her on TV she was such an icon. Even my mom sported that wispy feathery ‘do in the 70s.
Then I’m going old skool MJ with "ABC" from the Jackson 5 days. Makes sense since ABC is in my screenname and it is sort of my theme song when I think of pole dancing. ABC, easy as 1, 2, 3…

Thanks Charley! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Right after I posted I started thinking hard about it. So….. I really want to attend the first level and see how I like it. If everything goes well I’ll take a month or so "off" to practice and save up, and then take the next level. I just figure that once I get to the harder stuff I would really like to have a spotter and someone who can properly inform me. OK, now I just have to figure out if I have the money to take a class soon.

Awesome! We can’t forget about all the other people that passed away recently… Farrah Fawcett, that NFL player (sorry I don’t follow it that much), that TV host dude… I’m actually thinking of doing something to one of the Jackson 5 hits or maybe some really late MJ and mixing in the Charley’s Angels theme. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I keep on saying that I miss the good ol’ days of MJ.

Well I finally saved up and ordered the whole set of Art of Pole!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I can’t wait for it to get here. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif I was getting a little sick of watching the Vertical Dance DVD over and over again. The background music is soooo annoying after a while.

MemberJuly 7, 2009 at 9:31 am in reply to: Beauty & Body Care Tips for the Pole DancerI think about 90% of my beauty, cleaning, house, etc. products are all natural or at least veg friendly and biodegradable. So I love hearing about natural products that do a body good. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_porc.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_monkey.gif
I love using Badger stuff and I like using their "Lip & Body Balm" on my feet. After a day of dancing my feet are tender and need some TLC. So I use some balm and put on a pair of cotton socks before I go to bed. I can’t stand cracked heels and the balm takes care of that. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Before I go to bed I also slather on lotion… I like using a mix of Kiss My Face "Tighten Up" and Jason’s Vitamin E lotion. Both are supposed to lift the skin and moisturize. I hope it helps with all the stretching my skin does after pole dancing. I used them way before pole dancing and they are my favorites. The KMF one kinda smells like lime but I don’t mind it.

*hugs* Sorry about the pole. I hope you can get a better one soon! I’m surprised when celebs endorse crap they probably would never use themselves. It is total marketing bull… dung.
And I find that some Army peeps are super cool and others are so ignorant! Everyone here on base has been so supportive… Even at Ft. Stewart I knew several ladies who owned a pole. This sweet mom of 3 who just got here is like, "I used to be a dancer, that is how I met my hubby" and a female soldier my hubby works with wants to give it a go. This other time we locked ourselves out of the house and the MPs always have to do a sweep of the house… and of course my pole was set up in the living room (pretty much always is). So I thought the guy was going to laugh or say something rude but he was totally cool about and said he used to be a dancer. Maybe you should come to Mannheim! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif IDK but it almost sounds like the owner is trying to make some money off the pole dancing "trend". Even though you might be able to teach way more than her you’d still have to deal with the fact that she would be your boss and the poles aren’t any good. Good luck!

Hey back! Welcome to the group. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif I find pole dancing to be the best cardio and strength training I have ever had. I thought I was hitting all my muscles with my usual workouts but I was dead wrong. Have fun!

Public discussions of topics like this are tacky and in poor taste.Ufff, ouch!

That sort of makes me think of Costume College. For those of you who aren’t costumers CC is this fantastic 3-day convention for costume(rs) and they host classes and seminars during the day, a big ball, Sunday Tea, costume market, and lots of other stuff. People have to register & pay in advance, and reserve seats for the classes. Some of the people that go to CC are members of their organization and others pay extra just to go. I know it has nothing to do with pole dance or SV but it might give some ideas on what to do for a PD convention? And it might be cool to allow any pole dancers to join in? The more people the more likely you can get money to rent a big space? Like CC is held at a hotel that also has boardrooms and such. You could have classes during the day, one night could be amateur pole night, and the other a special guest(s) pole show.
But yeah, I think a pole dance convention would be big… no, no… HUGE. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Thanks! I think I’m going to lay off the inverts for a bit. I totally feel like I could do it all the time now but I’d rather take it slow. I am trying to work on my impatient nature. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_neutral.gif

How were the DVD’s? Does anyone know?If you go into the DVD & Books forum people wrote about their vids… I guess they are annoying and not informative (like 1 spin the first DVD). I have the two Vertical Dance DVD’s from KT Coates and they are pretty good. I just ordered the Art of Pole set which EVERYONE seems to love. I can’t wait for it to come in!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

Damn Flirty Girl strikes again!Bwahahahaha!
If you watch Flirty Girl videos (not the DVD promos) on YouTube and they have a nice studio with good instructors. Sooooo I’m sure they know what is needed for successful dancing because you don’t see their poles set up. I mean, it says a lot that a company doesn’t use their own product. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Woot woot girl! Post pics and vids when you get the chance! ^_^

I never got a chance to make one! My brother is staying for the summer and I got so busy taking him places. And after we’d get back from a trip I’d just have time for a practice and a shower. I really want to do the next one though!

Yay! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Congrats on your new baby. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

I’m a beginner and I have a 50mm… From what I understand you only want the smaller diameter pole if you have really small hands.

You are the Isadora Duncan of the pole world. When you perform, you take it to a whole other level. You are athletically gifted and could dance on Broadway, but what sets you apart is your vision. Your choreography, music, and costuming choices make your audiences line up at the door!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif Yeah, I’m a dancing rebel! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
