There are two parts to this first about calorie counting second about eating out and being busy and losing/maintaining! (kudos to the good advice from others given previously!)
In high school, I did some calorie counting and lost about 15lbs. Since then i have put it all back on in the last few year but as muscle!
Calorie counting, drinking water, eating consistently, and with things that satisfy you.http://www.calorieking.com/foods/ <their section on international foods is great since often if your unfamiliar with the way something is prepared this could get you in the ballpark. plus the search work well!
http://www.ntwrks.com/~mikev/chart1a.htm this one is good as a handy reference my dad keeps this in his kitchen ( he started me on calorie counting)
For those who feel they don’t have enough time to cook, some helpful tips! (some of these initially take a little time but after awhile they are nothing)
1) snacks: it takes very little to throw an apple, orange, or banana into a plastic bag into a purse. If you are that busy you probably have a big purse, i do!
Also nuts and small squishy fruit (berries, grapes, etc) fit well in little containers go to the $1 for these since you may lose them!2) Meals : There is no excuse if you can spend time on here looking at pole videos and investing in your health you can also take 5minutes out to look at the nutritional info on local chain restaurants or even just preview menus so you can have a go to healthy option.
*If you make poor food decisions don’t beat yourself up about it start right the next meal.3) Portion size: Take a few hours to learn what a real portion size looks like in your hand or on your plate.
http://www.webmd.com/diet/healthtool-portion-size-plate <~~~ while looking at website is great make sure you can identify it in real life.
*once you get a control on portion size you will have leftovers making busy lifestyles easier!4) No excuses: Just stop before you say it!
5) Self Deprecation: Also STOP doing this. Losing weight, exercising, and being healthy is about LOVING yourself and those around you! The more you are positive about what you are doing the more people will want to support you and in return you will have more to give. (it may all sound a little cheesy, but it is true)
Hope this is helpful to all of you! -
oh the different names for things! my assistant and i have been calling it a spinning one handed invert!

I will be taking the alethea and jenyne butterfly workshops on that thursday night! And have tier 1 tickets for the pro show and need to buy my amateur ones still! -
Also if you find a pair of boots that almost fits you should see if your local shoe repairman can stretch them. They often have steamers and they steam it then expand it. I have had this done to two pairs that were just slightly too small

Zuzsana does some awesome hardcore workouts with little to no equipment in most. even if you don’t do her full workout, it is nice to take different exercises of hers and put them together. Since you will be on vaca remember to write down what exercises you want to do and how to (for anything not used to doing)so you can get as much done without trying to remember everything!
have fun and be safe! -
even if they are charging for admission to the show often it doesnt cover much (unless tickets are outrageous). Producing a show costs a lot of money and if you do it now for no pay who knows what you may make in another season.
1. It gives a great chance to network with people who are obviously DOING things!
2. Could lead to future paid gigs.
3. Think of it as an internship! You get to see how it is to work with a choreographer and many girls that you don’t know. After you see the initial choreo, if it is in bad taste you can decline then, without too many hard feelings since they will still have time to find someone. Also you may not have to do certain numbers.
4. If they start to be UNPROFESSIONAL in anyway during practice (changing a lot last minute, expecting you to buy costumes, distasteful dancing) it is completely professional to apologize and part ways amicably.
5 If you have been taking class with marlo ask her if you can take her out for coffee, drink, etc to talk about your concerns pole dancer to pole dancer. She will understand and i am sure everything will be in good taste! -
What the hell! They pushed it back to feb! Now i have to rearrange my life again. Call the airline tomorrow and hope i can change my ticket without too hefty of a feww

Knee hold- Wrap whatever leg you use as your top leg on the pole and pull yourself up.
Superman- Same idea wrap whatever leg you want to be on top , bring hand over leg and turn over.
MOST IMPORTANT!!!! DON"T UNDERESTIMATE HOW IMPRESSED PEOPLE WILL BE! You are fabulous and you need to know so!
Even if your combos aren’t super crazy hardcore and just crazy hardcore who care as long as you are getting into them flawlessly!’
You will do excellent good lucK! -

think about your hands. sometimes in still photos on the pole people lose site that their hands and arms look awkward or sloppy. ( i know mine did first time a friend snapped some shots ) if you have a digital camera start finding your angles and arm movements with that so you can see what looks awesome and what looks crazy. Practice your facial expressions with the moves (smiling or just holding a calm face is harder when you have to)
My second pole shot wnt much smoother than my first !

MemberDecember 1, 2009 at 8:51 pm in reply to: Shoulder mount from backhook/back spinhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxcPIP-rtbQ the trick starts around :30
Although i highly recommend learning to shoulder mount on both sides, you will be wanting to use your dominant shoulder mount to learn this. Since using my right shoulder, i start the spin with my left side or vice versa left shoulder, right handed spin.
Get into your back hook, take the inside/lower arm out bring it around the front of the pole, and cup it same as you would in a shoulder mount. at this point your body should shift a little so that your back is on the pole. take the top hand turn it over and get ready to shoulder mount.
What really helped me get this move was practicing the arm movements while standing on the floor. It created muscle memory and made doing it while spinning much easier!

MemberNovember 20, 2009 at 8:59 am in reply to: How does everyone stay in shape for poling? For quite a few months I slacked off from the gym for two reasons, a hamstring injury and my body adjusting to teaching more classes.
I started taking circus class and will resume that again once it is warm (i have to take two buses there 1.5hr each way ick)
Cardio training
Just got back into running 20min once a week. My hamstring is still recovering from an injury so usually elliptical 2x a week 20mins. Sometimes i just use my weighted jump rope till my heart wants to explode. Cardio is GOOD for pole it gives you major endurance to dance!Weight Training
Doing soooooo much upper body work with the pole I feel unbalanced if I go for a long time without working my legs. Things i do! walking lunges & squats; weighted step ups, kick backs, extensions, calf raises, etc ( so glad to be able to moderately train my legs again) Anything that requires weights!
I agree with the other ladies learning pull ups and chin ups are excellent. (working on getting a muscle up and one handed pull up)
For core i either do pole sit ups or in the gym I raise the smith bar hang by my knees and do sit ups there. -
Thank you so much for the reply! I am going to try to make it up for open pole session and the beg/intermediate class on that saturday. Unfortunately, on this trip there is only one car between my boyfriend and I so as much as I would like to jam probably will just pop in the studio for a little. He has agreed that a weekend with his family is more than worth an hour ride and some pole time!
We will be there on family business so as much as I would love to dance on bars with you he will be taking care of family matter most of the night.

So i know we clarified a lot of this but thought it would be helpful for girls to see the examples provided by uspdf. plus just came across it a few minutes ago!

It is really hard to ask your instructors to NOT work somewhere else unless they are getting benefits or at least enough hours to make a substantial amount of money. Personal trainers often work at several gyms in order to make a living, teachers in other forms of dance also often work at several studios, this isn’t very different.
She is probably a little nervous because of recession and competition, but many of the new studios popping up are just people trying to make a quick buck. There is a studio that just opened in philly like that and guess what? They are failing because they don’t really know what they are doing.
The owner has right to be concerned about her working somewhere else, but a simple discussion could put any of her fears aside.
Although not a studio owner, I had to sign a contract that said although allowed to work other places I will not discuss the business of the dance studio, will not use any of their forms, and will not cross promote myself. Also my contract is a non-competition contract that says if I am fired or leave that I cannot start my own pole business within 100miles for a year. All of these things are fair considering, pole dancing is a niche market.
