I take a chair dance class sometimes, and we don't always do full choreography. There are some classes where we just learn specific cool moves that are difficult, so it takes a whole class to work on them. Other times we focus heavily on working out on the chair, not dancing (i.e. putting feet on the chair and doing pushups). Sometimes we will practice "sexy walking" to our chairs, and might have a walk-off between each other. I don't think you need to do a full routine every class, that seems hard!

I agree with everyone else – As long as you don't mind spending the extra money, I'd definitely get the xpert. Even if you don't use spinning mode now, you probably will eventually!

These are hardly lessons (not a replacement for Veena!) but a great resource if you just need to see how the move looks. http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/

Chem is always there to the rescue when we have tech problems 🙂

Lets try this pic again…

Shopgirl, do you work for Kyodan…

Could you post a link of the shorts you get from discount dance? There are so many, I don't know which to choose
-
I also find great deals at local dance studios – Places that sell leotards, tutus, etc. They usually have a section of 'booty shorts' that work perfect for pole, and are around 10-15$

Is the pole up to your crotch when you do the sit? If it's not far up enough, I find I fall more. Your strongest muscles are the ones at the top of your thigh, so the pole really needs to be right on your kitty for you to be able to use all the strength you have in your legs!

MemberJanuary 8, 2013 at 1:28 pm in reply to: Water drinking challenge? / how to drink more water?I like to brew herbal tea, ice it in a pitcher, and drink that (Herbal teas are naturally caffeine free). My favorites are celestial seasonings blueberry and peach. Makes water taste delicious, and its healthy!

My instructor also had us pull on our crossed foot to make the grip tighter, until we got really comfortable with the laying back part. Once we were, then we did it without pulling the foot. It helped me get over the "Oh my gosh I'm about to fall on my head" fear
-
In my opinion, this move takes little strength, and is mostly an overcoming fear type thing. You're just holding with the inside of your thigh. Took me a while to get it, as i was afraid to just drop back like her.

Belladonna, do you have any pictures of shoes you've glittered with this method?

Thanks for the help everyone! I ended up getting these for my first pair of pole shoes 🙂

Thanks Mary Ellyn! I might add rhinestones to the heals myself, much cheaper that way 🙂

I agree with JeHanne – There is nothing wrong that can come of you saying something. Notify her, and hope that she talks with her parents about it

Hi Scorpion, and welcome to the world of pole! To answer your questions,
1. I always feel silly when trying a new move! I feel comfortable with the basics I've mastered, but whenever I try something I haven't done before or have a lot of practice with, I don't feel sexy at all. It's normal!
2. My muscles felt like TOTAL spaghetti the first couple weeks of pole, because I had no prior workout experience. It will get better!
3. Never experienced this – hopefully someone else can answer!
4. You will learn to trust yourself more, and when you do, you'll loosen your grip. I death gripped my pole when I was first learning. Once I practiced more, I started to loosen my grip. You'll find you get a better spin, and there is less strain on your wrists! It will come with time.
Hope that helped! And keep poling!

Lil Mynx probably has the safest cheapest pole. Their standard pole is $189 http://www.lilmynx.com/index.php/dance-poles-accessories/dance-poles/the-original-lil-mynx-dance-pole-colors.html

Yes! Your profile says you are from Omaha.. do you frequent Denver? Where do you pole?

Glycerine is a humectant – One of the great things about humectants is that they will pull water out of the air and deposit it onto your skin. If you live in a veryyy low humidity area, though, glycerine can pull moisture from the epidermis to use on the dermis (so, it's a net zero).

Another Q – People who have won, how many views did you have?

Just cliked on all the ones above for this go around – Here are mine – I LOVE the style, but would they work for poling? I've never poled in shoes before
