WOW! I’m gone for a weekend, and so much happens! I knew all this group needed was someone to get the ball rolling. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I think either date would work for me, but that’s because I live really close by. Maybe we do a smallish, local thing in December, and then the "big" one with all the out-of-towners in January. I have a L’il Minx pole — so not very portable. Could I still come play in December?

So — the latest!! I talked to Karyn, the owner of The Girls Room in Dallas about doing it there, and it sounds like it would be workable. She said she would need to charge $25 a person for two hours, and we could bring what ever food/drink we like. They have a really nice studio — 15 or so tall poles. (You can see the studio in Voodoochild’s vidoes.) Does that sound good? Is that enough time? Karyn’s a great lady, so I’m sure we can get something together that would be agreeable for all!

The studio is on lower Greenville, and there are a lot of clubs/bars nearby. Maybe we could do the pole jam, and then drag our tired bodies out for a "girl’s night out".

Now, for the date… How about January 16th? Maybe late afternoon/early evening?

WOW — I think this is actually going to happen! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Woo Hoo! It definitely looks like there is enough interest to start planning this!!

Just from my quick look, it seems like the DFW area would be the place to have it. I’m thinking that 1) because StellarMotion wouldn’t be able to come, and 2) because of the holiday craziness, we should try to do it in January.

    How does that sound??

I think it’s fair to be disappointed at the lack of tricking in strip clubs and it’s totally an american freedom to express your dislike for the performances.

I suppose my mind is in the gutter, but this line made me laugh and laugh!! When I see "tricking" and "strip club" in the same sentence, it’s generally NOT a tall silver pole that comes to mind. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

For you strippers out there — KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif You girls are doing a difficult job, and you have my respect!!

I’ve been speculating on the bulky arm issue for a while. What do you think about this theory? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

There are many different ways to accomplish a pole move. So, one person does the move by pure arm strength, while another person uses other muscular systems (core, back, etc). Also, it seems that many moves are dependent on body position –> the twist in your body is doing most of the work. But, these same moves can be "muscled" into working. Therefore, folks that depend more heavily on their arm strength for moves get more arm bulk.

Anyone have an opinion on this theory? Its been rolling around in my head every since I met Jenyne Butterfly. You would never guess she’s a world class athlete by just looking at her. She’s incredibly strong, but doesn’t look bulky at all.

I agree with the "push your boobies out". https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m very bad about slouching as well. I also have a slight amount of scoliosis in my neck that makes it worse. Here’s something I do that helps.

    1) Feel the back of your neck, right where it meets your shoulders. This is your seventh neck vertebra. (Fascinating tidbit — all vertebrates have seven neck bones.) Think about pushing this backwards.
    2) Put your hand in the notch where your ribs meet in the front, at your solar plexus. Think about pushing this forward.

Doing this makes my chest open up, and my shoulders drop into the correct place. Just practice a little at a time, as it takes a while to get used to this. One other visualization that might help is to imagine a string attached to the top of your head, pulling you upward.

I hope this is useful for you! I learned this posture during my west coast swing dance obsession. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

    Good luck!

Anyone else working on the Iguana / Pen at the moment?
It’s a good challenge but it can’t look good with a bum in the air, swearing trying to kick legs up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Feels really scary to pull legs all the way up – I manage to touch the pole with feet up and then get disorientated and kind of head downwards https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I can do this move most of the time (even if it’s not lovely!) The way I figured it out was to do a regular headstand against the pole. This gives you the feeling of how to kick your legs up.

Then I did a headstand, but put my arms in the iguana position. That way, my head was still holding a lot of my weight, and I felt more secure.

Finally I did the mount in the normal way, and it worked! I posted a video of my shock at getting it if you want to look in my profile.

    GOOD LUCK!

1 thigh hold (held for 3 sec)

I think I understand the rest of the requirements, but I’m not sure about "thigh hold" –> I can only think of teddy, inverted teddy & inverted pike. I’m sure there are others I’m missing, but is that the hold you are talking about?

    THANKS!

When I got into poling many nights a week, I got BAD leg cramps. I started taking magnesium, and haven’t had any more problems.

I don’t know about where you live, but Craigslist often lists free mirrors from bathroom remodels. You just have to be able to transport a big piece of glass.

I created a new topic for video player ideas/desires over in the Tech area. I just thought it would be a more appropriate place for it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

OK, this is not a reply about shoes, but the headline cracked me up!! See, at my studio, they refer to a woman’s vulva as her "pleaser". "Stretching my Pleasers" really made me do a double take!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Lol oh god don’t say that!! Don’t tell me the pain gets worse than this! Haha!!
    -x-

Don’t worry about future pain. Everyone is built differently, so what hurts you may not hurt someone else, and vice versa. My thighs never hurt much with pole sits. Now superman… oooo, he is ouchie! Knee holds are less immediate pain than thighs for me, but I end up with more bruising and longer term pain.

Just love your pole and keep having fun!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
