Awe Tacha!!  Thanks, but I wasn't planning on stopping by there 🙁  Sad times.  If you would like to meet in another location and find a pole jam/studio, let me know 🙂

    Thanks so much girls!  🙂

And thanks for posting a reply becaues it keeps the thread near the top on Veena, and more people are more likely to see it, and spread the word!

This is a HUGE deal for pole and other aerials (Bendy said she'd spend some of her winning money on funding circuses across Europe… which is great!)… I think it's high time people see a different style of pole to what people generally see in the media!

    Hiya gang,

I also thought I'd post her youtube for those that want to see more clips (some are of other aerials):

    http://www.youtube.com/user/AdventuresofBendyboo?blend=1&ob=video-mustangbase

Also, she is going to compete in Aerial international (as with other Veener Phoenix Kazree):

    http://www.aerialpoleint.com/pages/rules_en.html

I'm really hoping some of you will be able to call in and vote.  It'd be amazing to see Bendy through to the final, and pole dancing seen in millions of reserved British homes 😀

PS.  She's in the semi-finals… not finals yet.  I'm getting ahead of myself!  So PLEASE PLEASE vote if you can and think she should get through! xx

Sorry girls, but just because a "troll" has a defined word doesn't make it friendly.  I mean, most swear words and insults also have a well known definition.  🙁

I'm not trying to defend what she's done and written, but just that I think it's also sad to see how people are reacting.  I had a glance at the posts (and gave up reading quickly because it made me really sad), and people making fun of other people (whether it's by calling them fat or the fact that they misspell words, which I do ALL the time) is just uncool.

Like I said, I know this thread was posted with good intentions, but let's try to be loving, supportive and friendly (which SV normally is).  I wrote on her wall asking some pole questions.  I mean who knows, maybe she joined the community, and expected people to say hi and welcome her… and maybe she didn't feel welcome and is lashing out.  I don't know.  I don't know her, but I'm hoping that this will just blow over.

I mean, North Americans are quite blunt (I'm Canadian, and I am quite blunt).  I am living in the UK, and I've been misunderstood so many times.  People think I'm rude and abrassive (although back in Canada I wouldn't be….)… so I guess I can relate a bit (although her words were VERY extreme and I don't think appropriate as many people stated… I hate name calling).

Anyways, I really respect everyone and this website and have come to value my friendships here.  I will no longer be responding to posts regarding this thread or any others link to this.

I am near tears because it's sad to see what's happened in the past couple days…

    xx

PS. Thank you Lynette for your constructive post.  🙂  I'm going to take it into action and only discuss pole now!  😀

    Hiya girls,

I don't know what happened exactly, but I really don't like this thread either.  Ganging up on a person and calling them a troll really isn't friendly.  🙁

I hope that never happens to me.  She's obviously hurt, angry, or bored.  Instead of saying something mean, it might be worth to show her some love instead.  (You guys are generally really polite and I do think you have good intentions, but this breaks my heart as much as any bickering… again, I didn't read the other thread, but please can we end all of this and go back to talking about what we love: POLE!  So ummm you guys fan of twisty grip, true grip, or split grip?  And which  moves do you prefer to use each grip with?)

Thanks Veena!  Just to let you all know PS is opening a branch in the UK which is exciting as it gives us the option.  I had a look at the poles as I'm upgrading to spin/static, and the xpert was less expensive (maybe because PS is from USA??)… I went with the xpole in the end.  xx

You want to know the funny thing?  I have had HEAPS of problems with x-pole when I first got my pole.  Customer service is great once you get in contact with them (PHONE CALLS NEEDED!).

But I'm upgrading and I'm going to get an xpert!

why?  Because although I had heaps of problems, they did sort it all out in the end and it didn't cost me an extra penny!  Joint was jammed within 3 weeks of putting up and they saw the sad track record I had with my pole (really unlucky!) and just sent me a new A and B pole.  I had to phone them again to tell them I also needed the joint!  Which they sent!  😀

So I guess I'm sticking with them because I know that when the water rises, they'll be there to help out.  I'm sure other companies are great too.  But I trust xpole.  I do wish their costumer service via e-mail was better though.

Thanks!  That's what I thought.  I guess I'll stick with xpole as I'm not in my own home and screws in ceiling aren't ideal!

I need to find mats preferably in the UK as they are expensive to ship (big and heavy).  I'll keep looking around!

    🙂

I think I'm most proud of my two performances: one a competition (came second!) and one for circus.  Both are posted on on SV.

I think it's amazing to see that I can string some tricks together and make a story.  It's also what I enjoy the most.

My goal for next year is: splits (again 🙁 ! ) and phoenix!  I know they are tough, but I've always had the mentality of go big or go home.

Sadly, I don't think I'll be performing this year as my ULTIMATE goal is to complete my phD.  LOL!  That means that my pole goals and dreams are not top priority.  (I was debating entering the All Wales comp on March 31rst, but intermediates is full and I don't think I'm quite ready for advanced without lots of practice… which I don't have the time at the moment.  I think I'm going to have to bow out.)

I like interesting cuts. Unfortuately sometimes I worry they would fall out hanging upside down.  So yeah… that's a MUST!

    Journey,

don't beat yourself up if you get stressed and end up pulling again.  You can also try some fake lashes for those days when you slip up.  Habits are hard to break (not saying this to discourage you but to encourage you! LIke you might pick a bit, but each time you try not to, maybe a little less).

Just thought I'd suggest the lashes.. I haven't a clue how to put them on though.  I wanted to scream when I tried for the comp.  Such a failure.

@Bambielove – tell your boyfriend he should be supportive because he's also going to benefit by a new and sexier you!  Your body gets more tone, you get more confident, etc.

I agree with Englann86… EPIC fail on boyfriend's part!

    A few things to add:

    1) When people get confused, I say it's like Chinese pole, but made out of chrome. It's more like circus tricks.

    2) "Nothing I do on the pole would be considered seductive in a bedroom." (Bendy Kate)

    3) I'm sure someone has said it on a thread before: stripping requires you to remove clothes.  This doesn't require (many) skills.  Pole dancing is an art form where you express yourself.  You don't remove clothes.  Therefore one has NOTHING to do with the other.

    4) Remember when you were a kid on the playground playing on those horizontal bars and all other contraptions?  Yeah, well that's how I feel again!  (People may struggle when you bring children in because their sick twisted minds are focused on stripping and stip clubs).

If this fails, then flex some muscles.. LOL!  Besides, the truth is, people will see your body tone up and then start to show a bit more respect anyways.  If you have a pole, invite some friends over.  They all want to try it deep down inside!

how about one without wheels that doesn't swivel… lol!

  • Can you suggest some joint mobility exercises!?  This puzzles me!  other than the ones on the VB dvd (which is basically killing your toes!), I have no clue how to do this!

I am the girl who learns fast and plateaus faster… only to watch everyone surpase me!  That and I get injured all the time because I'm a weee bit crazy.  In the past year, I've managed to damage my back/rib, both my arms (tennis elbow and carpal tunnel), pulled my left hamstring, and now hurt my left knee.

I KNOW all about set backs.  You think I would have stopped by now, but I love pole and other aerials too much!  I work to get rid of injuries and get back on the pole (back/ribs, and arms are fine at the moment!)

  • wow thanks for posting!  My left leg is a nightmare.  I pulled a hamstring last July and now my left butt cheek hurts all the time… And last night I screwed up my knee (falling onto a chair in the un-bendy direction).

With the exception of the knee, I think maybe I have been stretching a bit too much… well maybe too hard!  I think I need to do some light stretches on "off" days.  I do my Valentino Brothers (about 60 min) of stretching 3 x a week.

I am also going to try foam roller before and after.

I am giong to call the GP tomorrow for an appointment to get my knee seen.  I doubt that it will be useful.  🙁  When I pulled my hamstring, she didn't even look at it or tell me to do anything about it.  She basically told me to get on with my life.  Nevermind that I couldn't walk for like 2 weeks.  GRRRR!

Out of curiosity …. this isn't because of Bendy Kate's amazing pole/chair routine that everyone wants to do one right?
