I call my feelings of awkwardness being 'Dorky".
So.. to overcome it, I spent a good portion of last week puttin on music I loved and Just dancing.. around the living room, on tip toes, etc.

It helped.  Do it.  🙂  (Oh,, and .. it doesn't hurt to throw in a lap dance for the significant other once a month or so – I require alcohol for the necessary relaxation! :):)

OH.. and on "OIL" for massage.. the very best and most absorbent is Jojoba.  I used to use it exclusively on all my clients, and would carry along my own when it was My turn! 😉

I just hated feelin like I was gonna slide outta my shoes and break my butt after a massage.  You can always take your own jojoba, too!

Very deep muscle aches can certainly FEEL like 'the bone'.  I've had a few, and just KNEW I was gonna die, have to have surgery, or be in a wheel chair for life.. (back..lol.. that was a good one… I thought it was breaking every time I had to lower to the toilet.)

Hope you get to feelin better.. massage, massage, massage! 🙂

Yeah… I'm being careful about all of it… warm up, switch hands, rest time in between.  I guess I'm gonna have to quit sittin on my sofa in between days. LOL.. I notice it most then, but I slouch a bit!

Well.. at least I know for sure now what's causing it. THANKS!

Yep.. Veena's lessons.  I was just reading another newbie post (or return newbie?) who was totally BUFF, but has/had trouble w/ doing some of the actual pole lessons.  Aparerently it's a different kind of strength! :):) 😉

No tellin' What it is! 😉  From one with a 'bitchy body'… keep going for it, but not past the pain.  You know .. just til you can't stand it. *grin*

My body finds more ways to hurt than a cat finds things to play with!  BUT.. as I get in a little bit better shape.. it lessens. 🙂

You might want to try reflexology (self induced) on that very spot that is hurting.   Just put pressure on it w/finger for 30 seconds; then move to the 'ends' or where you think it connects to the bone, and do it again.  SOMETIMES you can get relief from pain this way.  (Or get a significant other or child to do it when you can't reach. :):)

I guess you and I can be the Push Up wimps? lol.. We'll GET IT. Eventually. :):)  I'm only going about half way down and worked up to 8.  I refuse to do More til I can do them RIGHT. 🙂

My youngest son (now 21) had weekly migraines (for lack of a better word) much like you describe.  He too took all the docs had to offer including even an injectable one.

Crazy as it sounds: What WORKED for HIM… An all orgainic diet.  Yep.  He was 16 or so at the time  While waiting for my diet supplies to come in, I switched to all orgainic foods, so that's what he got too. After about ten days, I LOST 11 LBS, as well!! 🙂

He did not have another headache for a year or more.  There is likely something in processed food you are allergic to.

    Absolutely!  what they said!

Just last night I moved my ipod player into the pole room.  (I've been making myself 'dance' around the living room this last week cause I felt like a total dork in my own body! lol)

I'm only starting week 4 and mostly still just strength training; done two Pole Holds and that's about IT.   BUT…

    Last night… I felt soooo much more comfortable 'dancing' around the pole.  And ya know what?  I did a BUNCH of Pole Holds….. I'm Just Sayin;

    ALWAYS Go For It.  One of my favorite quotes;

"I have no yesterdays, Time took them away; Tomorrow may never be, But I have TODAY." 🙂

My current mirror is about 3 x 5 and is about 6-7 ft. away from the pole.  Nah.  Not workin' for me. I have been toying with moving to another room.  The further away the mirror IS, of course; the more you can see. 🙂

What sort of 'music' are you using?  Mp3 or??

I have a video editing software (Corel Video Studio 12?) and it has (as I'm sure most do) a separate 'trak' where you can drag in whatever song or sounds you want.  (As long as you can get them loaded into the program.)

I know there are lots of free online…. just hunt around and maybe you can find something for your specific situation.

Maybe someone on here can help if you tell us a little more?

    Hi Dwiizi and Welcome!

I'm new here too (new to ALL of it. lol)  My only dance 'lessons' were in 7th grade for 6 wks of Modern Dance; so you're really fortunate to already know a lot of REAL dance!  I feel like a dork all alone in my own pole room.. lol

I'm starting week 3 and feel SO MUCH STRONGER.  Veena's lessons are the best thing I've ever done/purchased.  Everyone here is TOTALLY supportive and helpful.

That being said: I felt like a total Noodle Body last month (AGAIN.. LOL, I'm starting to feel like Sally O'Mally -SNL character by Molly Shananon) "I'm 57!"  and was a total wreck physically.  Bad knee, arthritis, fibromyalgia.. blah blah. But in this short time, I feel GREAT!  This is for anyone, any age, any level!  Veena's lessons, and strength training are the BEST.

She breaks down everything sooooo welll that ANYBODY can accomplish whatever they want.  I'm still not on the pole – and it may take me a year – but because of the ease of lessons; I KNOW I'll get there.  I actually did a Pole Hold last week, so each small accomplishment it HUGE when you get it – and on here YOU WILL.

    Congratulations and again, welcome.

@amcut – lol… can you say "Bible Belt"? 😉    Just think of poor little me in this 100K population city.  NO STUDIO at all! 🙁

You know… John the Baptist got beheadded 'for a dance'. 😉  *rolls eyes*    Now I'm not being offensive to any Chistians, Baptists, etc.  Just a fact.  Highly religious population… Fewer pole studios.

I used to be a massage therapist and in many places THAT was (still is) considered bein' a 'ho'.  ROFLMAO.  *rolls eyes again*

2003 scope surgery for torn maniscus on left knee.  It was better but very riddled w/arthritis.

Last August (in a pinch before divorce was final and still had insurance) I wimped out and actually left the hospital at 6 am rather than go under the knife for Knee Replacement.  LOL..

BUT.. that being said, I really don't regret it with all the hip reacalls!  AND.. building the muscle strength is really helping.  Until this, I was litterally hobbling, avoiding using, etc.  I have lived the last five years on some pretty painful shots of Synvisc every 9 months or so.  BUT..( poopy long doctor story) – I got screwed out of my last one which was supposed to be last September.

I got a little fold up mobility scooter for malls and flea markets, etc.  Really can't  walk long distances.  So…. I'm keepin the faith and I have to tell you –

THIS is the BEST think I've done for it.  IT still rubs bone on bone, (or maybe I should say Bone IN Bone, after seeing the computer ex rays)  but the exercises and tippy toes are building a lot of support surrounding and it helps immensely.

I just got mad a few months ago and decided to stop taking pain meds every day (hydrocone/viccoden) and am finding that I seem overall to be better for that.  (I'm convinced that Celebrex for arthritis actually was causing my fibromyalgia – stopped taking – fibro gone.)

Hope that wasn't too graphic – but you asked. 😉 🙂  Thanks.  I TOLD you I was a physical wreck a few months back. LOL :):)

Hi Laney.. sounds like OA.  But.. eh.. doctors.. pffft. 🙂

I started years ago w/ torn maniscus, had surgery.. pics showed LOTS of 'pink' all over of OA inflamation.. so.. It was better, but not over.  NOW.. the femer cuts into the tibia w/every step.  It was cool to see on computer tho.  An ever deepening slice into the bone joint on bottom..

BUT.. :):)  since starting THIS (and what I wanted to actuallyTELL you.. 🙂 – supporting muscle is EVERYTHING!  (A doctor actually did have me trying some little puny leg lifts years ago but it just hurt too much, so I never believed it would work).. BUT THIS .. Veena's workout is GREAT..

DO IT and just do what you CAN do.  It helps. .it really does.  I feel like a totally new person/body. (and if you missed it.. I'm 57. 😉

Okay.  Actually, the way you described it in your first post, I was thinking how it reminded me of the pain from fibromyalgia.  It's not the skin, not deep in the muscles – it always seems somewhere in between.  About the only thing that helps (aside from pain killers) is a hot tub.  And that would only relieve it for a little while.

Maybe your posture was slightly 'off'' during your biking.  Back pain is funny (not ha ha funny).  Sometimes a pulled muscle can feel like you're paralyzed and/or seriously damaged something important.

Hope you get to feeling better – most likely you will.  It'll just take a few days.
