I just saw this, but WOW! Wow – this looks great! Will it be airing on TV?
-
Sounds great to me – Karol, where are you staying? The Hampton Inn looks close…
-
Has everyone already booked their hotel rooms? Where are you all staying? This is going to be so fun.
Roxy, you can still hitch a ride with me – road trip time! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Let me know!

Amy’s suggestion to hang out before hooking is a good one that will build strength. For me, I practiced my shouldermount from the floor first to get comfy with it – once I got my legs to the pole it’s like, what now? But from the ground you don’t have the height fears to contend with and you can figure out the leg placement. Good luck – that was the hardest point to get to for me! You are almost there, you have the strength – the rest is just gravy. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Me, too! And the more people that quit, the more people there are to support others as they make that decision. I love it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

It gets better – the first few weeks were so bad for me that was sometimes the only thing that kept me quit, because there was no way in HELL I was ever going through it again! I also started to realize that if I had a severe craving, it would pass on it’s own even if I didn’t have a cigarette. I think that was a big fear for me, the idea that if I really wanted one it would never go away. Hang in there – it’s been almost 5 years since I quit and I am grateful every day for it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

WOW – they are both so good! Makes me want to practice my floorwork more often. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I have really little hands and have a 50 – I didn’t notice too much of an issue when I first started poling, but now that I’m working on split grip stuff I feel like my progress has stalled due to my tiny hands trying to grip! Maybe Santa will bring me a 45mm one of these days….I am dying to try one. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif

When you straighten them out as much as you can do they bend backwards? Mine do, and one of my teachers suggested that I always keep a slight bend in my elbows during my split grips – that’s helped a lot. Even though my forearms are strong now, if I hyperextend them that’s when I get the achy feelings now.

Hi Amber – hip hold is tricky for me, too! Empyrean’s tip on doing it first with legs together and then moving them apart is a good one. I can’t do it yet just using my hip, and this one is one of the most painful moves I’ve worked on yet. It will get better, but in the meantime it sucks! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
The split thing you are talking about (I think) is the jade split. The only thing really holding you up is the pressure from the hip hold part of the move – it looks so cool, doesn’t it? One day…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

MemberDecember 3, 2009 at 2:51 am in reply to: constant dull ache in my arms almost carpal tunnel feelingIt will probably get better – just be careful and give it lots of rest. Those little forearm muscles get a big workout! I found it helpful to place a tennis ball on a table, and roll my forearms over it, pressing into the muscles and attachments. Ice packs are your friend, too. Make sure you take it easy – you don’t want to get tendonitis or worse! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif

Sissy, are you taking any workshop(s)?

My friend and I are definitely coming – Sissy, can’t wait to finally meet you and some other SVers! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Yes, thanks for this thread – I have really little hands and was worrying that I was going to have to get a 45mm pole instead of my 50mm. I just need to make my grip supersonic! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif

Hi Hazeldej – sorry to hear about your pain! I know how frustrating it is to not be able to do the stuff you want to do when you are hurt.
Make sure you rest your forearms and it might be a good idea to take a little break – there are so many little tendons in your forearms that it’s very easy when you’re starting off to strain them. A split grip is an advanced grip – you’ll build the strength you need for it over time. I still have tendonitis in my forearms from rushing my split grips early on – filling a sink with ice water and dipping your forearms in it will help the inflammation. Be careful and I hope they feel better soon!

I have been struggling with this too – and I finally did it today! I had been trying to caterpillar climb with forearm grip, but when I tried the elbow grip it clicked for me. I guess I just needed to try something different to make it happen!

Great job! That’s such a cool move and it’s hard to get. Be proud!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Count me in – you deserve this and I hope you win. Your video really touched me – I will spread the word, too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Holy crap! That was awesome – you looked like you’ve been doing it all your life. You know what it makes me realize? I need to sack up and freaking stop being a baby about my aysha. Thanks for the inspiration!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have the same problem – but if my pole is cold I slip off. I’ve got to get it a little warm, and if my hands are getting sweaty I use a grip aid. I like Tite Grip, but there are tons of them out there. It definitely helps – everyone one here has a favorite! Try a couple and see what works for you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
