Same here.. I would never had bought a pole and join this community if it wasn't for her. Hope she's ok…

yes, initially. to make the "turn" you need to step forward, behond the pole and lift in order to have enough space to open the move and return back to the other side. hard to explain better in my poor english sorry… also its not an easy move, takes some strength and a great deal of ballance… lots of practice 🙂

it looks like you are lifting to the side. You need to lift forward in order to be able to push back in a 180º to the oposite side of the pole as you descend.

I also hook with the sole of my foot. not quite like moonflower, but not with the ankle either. i can do both ways now, but I hate it because its painful (bony ankles) and dont feel like it gives me enough support.
I dont see myself competing anytime soon, if ever, but would it be a problem? and as a teacher, should i work on always hooking with the ankle to set an exemple and avoid students to pick up on my "kirks"?

oh great Veena! I havent seen that video before. Round off, so thats how its called 😀 great!
I have a similar problem, i can do a cartwheel off pole, but i do it to the left and I do a cartwheel mount to the right side of the pole… go figure.. been trying to do the full cartwheel with no luck, but I liked the way you progressed into it, going to try that.
and as a side note… you did all that for the first time in those 5 min?! damn… thats amazing! 🙂

seems like you are talking about 2 totally diferent moves… please correct me if i'm wrong…: there's the full moon trick, true grip, or like my weak variation with the split grip, where you flip to the OTHER side of the pole, no snapping of the arms on that one. and then there's the flip on the SAME side of the pole, that I dont know the name… I have it here, 2 diferent ways, at about 2.18

first from a very low hanspring and second from a cartwheel mount, both with true grip. those are much more tricky because you need to let go of the top arm at the right moment, too soon you'll fall on your head, too late and yes… i supose you could snap it. ask someone to hold you until you figure out the right timming, and only try them if you have REALLY solid mounts…

I have somthing similar here with a split grip

Some of you may not believe, but my dream move was to invert..! that says a lot about were I was both physically and emotionally, everything else since then is a bonus 🙂 The things that I'm most pround of are that i got the courage to come out with my head high to everyone about this passion and face the good and the bad that came along the way, and of course my latest achievment, becoming an instructor! my life did a total 180º turn this year thanks to pole, cant wait to find out what 2012 will bring 🙂

I'm closing it at the end of the month… Because its too personal I'd rather not go further into it here.. check your indox in a moment 😉

MemberDecember 10, 2011 at 12:58 am in reply to: vertical dance online instructor qualificationI'm also taking the VD course atm! and i'm really enjoying it, i'm so glad I decided to do it, really had no business teaching otherwise, so I strongly recomend it.
To avoid the headache that would be making the videos (student shyness, language barrier, time consuming, etc) I'm doing the UK course.
emotioncatcher: If you want to know more about it, you know how to reach me 😉

One of my favorite movies growing up was Legend, so when I had to pick a nickname (way back in the days of mIRC) seemed like an obvious choice, both mysterious and androgynous. Over time It became part of me, my "virtual" identity. If its taken I use Lenda (legend in portuguese ).

Good question… lets see: its a great workout, empowering, fun, challenging, versitale, never boring, makes me feel sexy and healthy, great antidepressant… I could go on and on… mostly it just suits me, I was always fascinated by it and not only changed my life, it gave me life!

What Veena and Amy said, more like a lean back and not bad at all and not dangerous if done with control. I have it on the practice video from September at about 0:25.

I wont have a Christmans tree but I'm in!! been trying to get the split for almost 1 year… I certainly need the motivation…

Video done! uploading atm… hope it helps 🙂

I have no idea how this move is called… I entry from a gemini, and exit from the iguana mount… the entry does not look very pretty but it woks for me… I can make a video if it helps. Stardust was the one who taught me the move, maybe she can explain it better also 🙂

Empyrean: No, I've only been pole dancing since June 2010 and teaching for little over 3 months… plus i have no first aid certification… not on humans anyway.. 😉 but its something I've always been interested in learning, so… maybe next year 🙂
-
Oh, that would be perfect for me…! Except I don't meet the prerequisites 🙁

Thank so much for your reply 🙂 I went to look for more information but my german sucks… 🙁 don't supose the courses are in english by any chance? 😉
I know.. everything seems a bit overcharged… i mean i dont mind to pay as long as i get my money's worth… but sometimes is hard to tell…
I've tried the trial lessons… but its hopeless here… i love teaching, but i cant keep teaching friends for fun forever… and everyone else is either not interested because its "stripper class" or dont trust my skills or simply dont feel like they have to pay me anything because i have nothing on paper to show for myself… i cant even begin to describe how much portuguese love their paperwork and burocracy… anyway..
i've been doing more research, both on google and in here, and considering my geographical and background limitations i'm inclined towards the VerticalDance course.. does any one have it? is it worh it?

I've recently started posting some videos on youtube, but for now they are the same I have in here…

Great idea! I'm L3gend2012, from Portugal, same time as UK.

I wish i knew the answer… i tried the move last month and it totally ruined my inner thigh… for 2 weeks i couldn't even do a pole sit.. and it still hurts a little bit when i practice too long… i dont know what happened, i'm sure i did something wrong, but i'm not in a worry to try again any time soon.. Venna, if you're reading this… a lesson on that would be great 😉
