Chinese grip is then your top hand is gripping the pole with pinky up and thumb down, full hand wrapping around the pole, so it is different than twisted grip. We have a new rubber wrap to wrap the poles at for a good price of around $80 to wrap a pole 8ft tall

The great thing about double point hoops is that you can hang it as a single point as well. I hung my double point lyra as a single point off of my 8ft ceiling to practice. I screwed a 4" eyebolt into the ceiling stud and it was really secure for me. Have an engineer inspect your house to be absolutely safe.
This site offers free shipping anywhere in the USA on Aerial Hoops and they are great

I believe it is just how your hips are built. Mine always pop in and out which makes the noise of a ping pong ball lol, i've been doing pole for 7 years but i've gotten used to it.

It happens. I messed up during my contortion and faceplanted LIVE on air for the Channel 6 News in San Diego three days ago. I'm still embarrassed, The trick is to learn to laugh at your mistakes. I made a joke that maybe i'll get a redemption on Tosh.0 and that made everyone laugh. Don't let it get you down, if I find myself on youtube i'll post it here lol 🙂

Circus arts are amazing and they work different muscles than the pole so it really strengthens your body all around. Check out the aerial equipment and information here:

Also step ups! Put a chair infront of your pole and put one leg up on the chair and hold the pole for support (but don't use your arms) and step up and down, step up, and down. If you want to increase it, hold a kettle bell in one hand and the pole for support with the other hand and step up.

Takes a little bit to adjust. Its really all about your equillibrium as well as body positioning. You'll acquire the muscle control with more practice. Good luck! 🙂

MemberNovember 20, 2010 at 9:21 am in reply to: Beware of buying aerial silk and yoga hammocks from ebay!Oh and I wanted to add as long as its the right material. Generally tricot, and polyinterlock are the main types of fabrics used. Polyester interlock is really high stretch so it can get scary. I love tricot cause its low stretch and very secure but also comfortable. There are different types of tricot though so be very careful in selection. The fabric I sell on my website has been tested and approved. I dance on it, and I have sold sets to many people, mainly in Utah but I ship out of state and have had customers from all over the USA. I also sell aerial hoops, trapeze bars, aerial hammocks, gear such as rescue 8’s and swivels, carabiners, etc. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

MemberNovember 20, 2010 at 9:19 am in reply to: Beware of buying aerial silk and yoga hammocks from ebay!Yes 110inches wide is more than safe. As long as it does not go below 75 inches for an adult it should hold. 65 is the lowest recommended for children, no smaller than that. So just remember
65inches ok for Kids
75-110inches ok for adultsThe heavier the adult the better it is for thick, My silks are 108 inches wide and I love the grip and how well they flow. They also make great hammocks which i sell as well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I hope this helps. Anymore questions i’m more than happy to give assistance.

MemberNovember 15, 2010 at 9:25 pm in reply to: Beware of buying aerial silk and yoga hammocks from ebay!Yes there is a big difference in material type in comparison with grip and durability. I personally sell a nylon tricot based fabric that works very well, it is the recommended fabric amongst the aerial community. You can see my site at http://www.aerialempowerment.com I haven’t had any complaints with my products, i’ve sold silks and other aerial accessories to many pole dancers around including Becca Butcher, etc. If you have anymore questions don’t hesitate to ask

MemberOctober 26, 2010 at 3:11 am in reply to: Beware of buying aerial silk and yoga hammocks from ebay! That is good that they are 110 inches wide, that is a very good width and very strong tensil strength. Did you find out if they were tricot or poly interlock? Sounds like tricot if they were 110"
I’ve seen some on ebay that were great looking. I mostly just wrote the article so that prospective buyers have a good idea what to look for, its definitely good to ask questions. I think the customer has the right to know anything about any product they are seeking, the more specific the info the better. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I’m glad to hear that you had a good experience, I would hate to hear of anyone getting hurt.

It really depends on your skin type but I find that I can grip great with curel lotion as well.
I also made an AMAZING grip aid and pole cleaner that I sell on my website if anyone is interested in having a super duper spidermonkey grip!
http://aerialempowerment.com/store.html
I originally created this spray for use on silks but I got the notion to try it on the pole one day and it works wonders. Doesn’t matter if you have sweaty hands, or dry hands, whatever your skin type this spray WORKS to aid gripping the pole better than you ever have before. Ships anywhere in the USA

I used to have problems gripping, and then I accidentally invented the best pole solution ever after silk dancing…
For those of you who have tried my pole spray and know what i’m talking about and have begged me for it, I now sell it on my website
http://aerialempowerment.com/store.html
Find it below the trapeze when scrolling down.
This is the most amazing grip enhancer I have come across. I originally created this spray for use on silks but I got the notion to try it on the pole one day and it works wonders. Doesn’t matter if you have sweaty hands, or dry hands, whatever your skin type this spray is guaranteed to aid gripping the pole better than you ever have before. It not only helps grip but it also cleans the pole as well. Ships anywhere in the USA

Hey Sage, I am in Salt Lake City as well, you should come to club habits 3900 S 800 E on a tuesday night from 9-11pm its ladies pole night and they have three 15ft tall spinning poles. The girls there are all very supportive, I was one of the instructors there until they laid me off due to a budget crisis in the club, but its way fun and I still go as often as I can. The girls are all very supportive, ITS FREE! So thats nice, just come in and pole dance. Studio Soiree is great, i’ve trained with them and still hang out there a lot. I work with studio blue now though. But welcome welcome. Hope to see you at habits sometime, maybe tonight? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

MemberSeptember 6, 2009 at 7:17 am in reply to: Help. Any difficulty going from 50mm to smaller poles??I find personally that it is easier to go from a thicker grip to a thinner grip rather than the other way around. I did however have a more difficult time gripping with my legs on a thinner pole but it didn’t take long to adjust at all https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

You may be a pole dancer if you intend to go clothes shopping for work or personal and end up searching for that perfect top or shorts to pole dance in instead of regular clothes.
