Did the magnet test and it doesn’t stick so it must be all brass. Thanks for your help! 🙂

Question for ya, chemist…. Does vinegar react adversely with brass? I’d like to try it, but not if it will hurt my pole.

I used to have my pole in a space so small that Iwoul either touch wall or furniture on either side if I stood next to my pole and extended my leg out. I had to move my coffee table and tv out of the room everytime I poled. But I found a way to work in that space because I would just strategcally timed my spins so that any extensions of the legs would be out over the couch. So yeah, you can adapt to work in a very limited space, just gotta be creative.

I have heard it called a "no handed butterfly" but I cannot recall who else does it. Also have something similar called "shoulder splits" (with legs extended, although I think one is still on the pole)

Sorry.. that link didn't work. Try this one..

Sometimes I put spray rosin on my pole to make it more grippy for more advanced move practices. I've used this stuff before and that makes the pole very sticky. Just make sure to give it a light dusting because a little goes a long way.

I usually wear sz 7 American (sometimes 7.5 if they run small) and I have the 609 model as well as a couple others from Pleaser. I find that the 609 model is more roomier around the toes than my other shoes. They seem a little wider than my other shoes as well. I haven't noticed them stretching at all and I have had them for 3 years now and use them frequently. They are my favorite and most comfy shoes of all of them.

From cupid, you could go into any of these…
butterfly
marley
kneehold
pole splits
hmmm, not sure what else.. but am interested to see what others come up with.

Do you want a a multipiece or one piece? For a multipiece the Xpole is definitely the better option, but it is more complicated that the PS to put up. If you like a one piece better, PS is a simpleeasy design to put up and down within minutes and is less worrysome to care for. I have them both and I love them both!

Oooh, i do have a feather boa, I've been meaning to use one day!

Curvy Diva, where did you order your pole from? I looked at the Xpole website and they don't give an option for 45mm

I feel like the CAR is underestimated a lot. That is a very difficult move to get, and for me took a couple weeks before I felt comfortable in it. Not to mention it is highly dangerous to fall out of as you're basically falling head first facing away from the pole. Trust me, I know…. it happened to me and my arm got caught underneath me and I injured that and my neck. Kept me off the pole for a couple months and i now have recurring issues in those areas. I haven't seen Veena's lesson but it sounds like she is having you work as safe as possible to the floor. Take your time with it, let the muscles build up in your thighs so that you will have mighty grippage there. And don't worry, you will get it! Just keep practicing!

I have had no problems with my Xjoints. I make sure to retighten them everytime I use my pole and I check them frequently during practices. Xpole really is the best multi piece pole on the market right now.

I only tend to record when there is omething specific I am working on and I need to know what it looks like in order to fix something. I don't have a lot of space on my computer to record a lot of video, but I was thinking about buying a flash drive with some decent memory on it to store my practices. IDK, do you think a 16GB flash drive is sufficient?

My legs used to tremble in the CAR but I had also fallen out of it one time and injured myself prety bad, so the shaking was more from fear than lack of strength. When i fell, I injured myself so badly, I wasn't able to pole for over two months! When I started poing again, the CAR was a major hurdle for me to get over in order to get back into it. Either way, make sure to have a mat or pillows underneath you when you pracitce, and start low so that if you lose your grip you have not far to fall. Like try getting into it from an elbow stand against the pole, then lift yourself up.

MemberJanuary 21, 2011 at 10:05 pm in reply to: Can I combine titanium and chrome Xpole parts?Hey Dangermouse, I did it with my old Xpole and it worked out fine. Yes, it was a little multi colored, but in certain lights it wasn't that noticeable. My gold pieces ended up fading anyway and were crome colored in the areas of high use anyway, so it ended up looking kinda candy cane striped, lol.

I have bought from them and it was not a good experience for me. It was a couple years ago, so I don't remember the exact details but I remember they screwed up my order twice and sent me the wrong stuff and the wrong sizes. At some point they even claimed they had sent me my order but in fact, I never recieved it. It took several months and many emails back and forth to straighten it out and I ended up getting "store credit" instead of a refund, which I used towards some shoes that were on clearance. The shoes turned out to be of very cheap quality and were too uncomfortable to wear. By the end I was just too tired of dealing with them so I just left it alone. I would never order from them again.

I would suggest that you contact Xpole directly about flipping the pole around. On the older models, they discouraged installing it upside down, but your model is very different from the old model and the Xpert as well. Judging from the installation video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q68QQParkME&feature=related I don't think it would be a problem tho.

Hey there STLPD27,
I just wanted to add my two cents in here. I am 29yo. and moved to a new state about ten years ago, away from all my childhood friends. Over the years I have made some close friends, but most of them I have retained from when I first came here. In recent years it has been more diificult to forge new friendships that were anything more than social aquantainces. I am very social, friendly and am easy going with most things, so you would think it would be esay to get along with other people. But a lot of people my age are married with kids or are busy with their careers, and are comfortable with the friends they already have so it's difficult to make friends. And it's not like you can just go to the bar and approach random women, because they usually are with their own posse and will probably think you are a freak or a lesbian trying to hit on them.
The last several years, I have worked on and off on the night shift as a nurse, and because of my awkward sleep schedule, it has been difficult for me to maintain or make new friendships. None of my friends are up and available when I am up, and I can't do a lot of day time activites because I have to sleep. It sucks and it is lonely as hell sometimes. I got so lonely and desparate that I posted an ad on CL looking for other night shift people to hang with. Surprisingly, I did find a couple of people that were worth talking to, but I had to sift through a lot of less desirable responses before I found those people. And of course it was a little scary because you don't know what kind of crazy people are out there. Another way that I have tried to meet people is through social group websites such as Meetup.com. There are a lot of activity/interest based social groups on there and so it gives you the opportunity to meet other people that are into the same things. Do you have any social networking sites or clubs in your area?

Yeah, my bf was really supportive when I first got my pole, but then that didn’t last long once he realized it wasn’t about pleasing him, lol. We went through a phase where he would get really annoyed by it, but I was pretty obsessedand spending way too much time on the forums and youtube. Tbh, I was letting it interefere with our time together. Now, I have chilled out a lot, and everything i’d back to copacetic again.

MemberDecember 24, 2010 at 6:55 am in reply to: MW Pole Jam Attendees.. need your help with ballerinaIs it just me or is the ballerina pose quite similar to the eagle? I mean, of course the leg is straightened and you aren’t gripping the pole with your hand but the PsOC seems to be the same.
I like this way of getting into it. Seems way more graceful.
I never heard of the eagle before, but a lot of the moves do have the same names. There are two variations that I have seen with this one.. one with the hooked leg around the front of the pole and one with the leg pressing against the pole with the shin. I refer to both of these as the ballerina pose, although to some they might be different moves. What does the eagle look like?
