I am still not able to do the knee hold yet, but one thing I have been doing to prepare myself is practice hooking the upper knee around the pole, while the foot is still on the floor and then leaning out away from the pole, arms extended above head. Other moves I do are called the cupid and knee swing, which are essentially the same move but the lower leg is extended along the pole. In the cupid, the underside of the foot is on the pole, and in the knee swing the bottom leg is turned so that the shin is pressed against the pole. You can grab your heel or the back of your knee for support.

Wow Lily! amazing pictures! Pantera is such a bad ass on the pole and she is such a sweetheart in person!

I have seen an X pole come down a couple times before, even after it was checked and re-tightened. It may not be anything you did. One thing I did want to mention though, is that when you initially put an Xpole up on carpet, you may have to re-tighten it a couple times as you’re poling, because as the pole sinks more and more into the carpet, it depresses the carpeting, thereby creating more room between the pole and the carpeted floor.

Don”t forget MI polers, this event is tomorrow! Can’t wait!!!

Are you telling me the heels I just bought for pole dancing are gonna be useless on my carpeted floors?! Darnit!
I read on a youtube video that a girl had put duct tape on the underside of her heels to make them glide more easily on the carpet. Maybe that would help solve the problem? -
I think it is important to practice most moves on both sides. It doesn’t have to be perfect on the non dominant side, but it it is important in balancing the body. Just make sure you have a spotter or crash mats on hand! As far as actual performances, I would think doing what is most comfortable for you is best. You wouldn’t want to write and important document with your non-dominant hand, you would write with your best penmanship using your dominant hand.

I call the move that Charley described as the scorpio switch.
There is also a spinning scorpio move that involves going into a helicopter and then into a scorpio and spin down the pole and another spin that involves being in scorpio position with hands on the ground, then swinging the free leg around the back of the pole to spin it to the ground. I wonder what those are called?

Yay, Roxy Pink!!! Congrats to you! Now you can work on shoulder mounting from there, which is where I am stuck right now! Hopefully, you will get it and then you can help me out.
Charley- Thanks for the tip. I think I did try that the other day, but it didn’t seem to help me. I am just too weak. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I could go into that and then into a regular air invert though. I may have to settle for that until I get some more ab strength. Oh well, I haven’t given up yet!

Hey there! Welcome to the forum! Wow, there seem to be a lot of MI pole dancers joining lately! That is so awesome! I noticed from your pictures that you go to the Detroit Flyhouse too. There are a few of us on here that go there for aerial lessons! Are you currently taking classes? Maybe I will see you there! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

The elbow grip aysha is very similar to the forearm grip aysha. One difference that helps me is, when hooking my elbow around the pole, I place it a little higher on the pole rather than right in front of my chest. It seems to enhance the grip once my legs are off the pole. Also a tip that Charley suggested to me that really seemed to help, was to practice caterpillar using the elbow grip several times each practice, to get more comfortable with the arm positioning and to help desensitize the elbow. It will start to feel more natural after a while. Good Luck!
