The elbow grip aysha is very similar to the forearm grip aysha. One difference that helps me is, when hooking my elbow around the pole, I place it a little higher on the pole rather than right in front of my chest. It seems to enhance the grip once my legs are off the pole. Also a tip that Charley suggested to me that really seemed to help, was to practice caterpillar using the elbow grip several times each practice, to get more comfortable with the arm positioning and to help desensitize the elbow. It will start to feel more natural after a while. Good Luck!

    https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I have a love/hate relationship with this move https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Elbow grip = getting farther away from the pole, so once you get comfortable with the reverse climb/ caterpillar with the elbow grip – get a big caterpillar going and instead of bring your upper body into the pole as you would for the forearm grip, keep your distance hook the elbow, get a good grip and tension on the crook of your elbow and push out from the pole.

Like Jen says you’ll want a much larger cateripillar for this one and to grip higher on the pole.

One thing that helped me working on this nasty move was to think about pushing out sideways to create a tighter lock against the elbow pit.
