Just watched your vid, awesome stuff! I left a comment over there for you 🙂

I think Pilates might help, too….I started doing Pilates a few months ago. It works all the small muscles, and may help with flexibility. I always feel really good after a Pilates session. Opinions, anyone?

For those of you who are on f/book, there is a group on there that does the same kind of thing…..can't remember what it's called ATM but I'm sure some of you will know it.

MemberApril 30, 2013 at 8:41 am in reply to: Best sports bra for pole? I need suggestions 🙂Now that I know my correct size, I buy most of my bras online. Panache is. UK brand I think. I’ve got a few from Ebay as well as online shops in the UK. Not sure where you can get them in the States. Maybe just try google. Try Figleaves or Bravissimo for the sports bra.

Don’t know if you’re wearing shoes fir your performance but I’ve just seen some Leg Avenue spiderweb printed ones (clear with black web) which would be perfect 🙂 They are pretty heavy though 🙁

I need suggestions 🙂Not a sports bra, but I love Panache Cleo Jude bra – moulded cup, comes in pretty colours (new ones every few months) as well as nude, holds everything in. I have a whole collection! I’ve also got the Panache sports bra but it feels a bit like a granny bra on me 🙁 Also have the Freya one but I don’t find it particularly flattering. For reference, I wear 32G.

Another thought – if one of you comes on wearing a jacket, the other one could remove it for her 😉

Could you maybe start out dressed as "Peter Parker" and then "strip off" (!) to a spiderman-themed costume – maybe some kind of spiderweb stockings or arm warmers, or a fishnet (or larger net) top with maybe red or black shorts with a spider motif on? Maybe for the Peter Parker bit you could wear a "suit type" jacket? (I will have to google him and see what he wears when he's not spiderman!) You could just walk on wearing the jacket, do a few walks, bottom-sticking-out poses/moves etc. Maybe you might find inspiration from some of Bobbi's pole studio vids on You Tube? At one of the "end of term" performances at Bobbi's one of the girl had on a fishnet type long sleeved top, which was actually a pair of panty-hose that she'd cut a hole for her head where the crotch part was – looked really cool, you never would've guessed they were pantyhose!

I think I read somewhere that skim milk powder is a good – and cheap!- source of whey protein isolate. Anyone else heard this?

Love this thread 🙂 Thanks for starting this, SaskiaM. I love your comment: It took me so many years to finally say F-it I'm going to pole! that now I just can't contain my excitement. :-)" I am exactly the same! Love your enthusiasm, too – pole dancing is very addictive 😉
Korinne – I see you have already suggested cleothehurricane – you beat me to it – she has some awesome stuff. I was lucky enough to do a workshop with her recently. I bought her "Rock n Pole" T – I love it!

Princess Peach – that guy sounds really creepy. Ugh!

I haven't done a "chair dance class" where the entire time (apart from warm up) is devoted to chair work, but I've done classes which include chair work, but is mostly "dance based aerobics" using the pole as well. We just used the chair for a few moves including a sexy walk around the chair. What about incorporating some floor work. I think perhaps a whole routine is a bit much….maybe do a few chair moves, some floor work, wall work, sexy walks, crawls etc to break it up a bit. Can you look on You Tube for ideas perhaps? Hope this helps.

Well done! It took me a while to grasp the "mechanics" of how to climb, but now I find it so satisfying to be able to climb to the top of the pole at the studio 🙂

Korinne, there's another thread on here somewhere re Cleo's DVD. As I'm Australia I'm not sure if there are US vendors, though., sorry. Consensus of opinion seems to be that yes, it's worth getting. If you're on facebook there's a "Rockin legs n Abs" group. I did a stretching workshop with Cleo a few weeks ago, which was similar to the DVD, but with personal tuition. I also did a pole workshop with her straight after. I couldn't walk the next day!!

So pleased for you. Hope it all works out OK.

So a pole is an offensive thing just because it's upright? (Oops!…..pause while I slap myself on the wrist…..) and a pole if it's horizontal, doesn't resemble a man's penis? What if said man is lying down? I'm sorry, but your Mom's cousin's argument just doesn't cut it. Hopefully she can "agree to disagree" with you over this.

I am soooo glad I live in Australia, where this sort of thing is not an issue. Poles are just poles, not "stripper" poles.
And I have one other thing to say – "Ladies.Beach.Volleyball." I don't hear anyone complaining about the girls in *that* sport wearing skimpy clothing! And you can't tell me that they wear skimpy clothing for safety reasons! If anything, they should cover up because of the risk of skin cancer 😉

Thanks Poledreamer 🙂 What you describe is pretty much what I do. I took up Pilates a few months ago, and as a result am more conscious of my posture and engaging my abs. It makes a difference to the way I walk up steps as well 😉 I think the "hunched over" look doesn't look pretty 😉

It is a bit odd. Could just be a coincidence?. Who broke up with who in their relationship? Do new employees have a "trial period"? If so, then maybe she will decide the job's not for her after all, or maybe management will think she's not right for the job.
You have been there longer than her, so from that point of view you have the 'upper hand" and are in a stronger position if trouble starts to happen, as management should know from your history with them that you aren't a trouble-maker.
As a first step I would try talking to her as a reasonable adult. If she's "feisty" then that could be a sign of insecurity If this doesn't resolve the situation, depending on how understanding the management is, perhaps you could speak to them and explain the situation (though I would be a bit hesitant to do this).
Would it be possible to arrange for you to work different shifts so you don't have to keep seeing each other? You've been there longer, she has "invaded your territory" and you have a right feel uncomfortable.

This is a blog from a store (in Australia) where I've bought 2 pairs of Pleasers – there's an article on shoes for pole: http://www.highheels.com.au/highheels/shoes-and-costumes/beginners-guide-to-pole-dancing/
-
Definitely recommend those with an ankle strap. Some stores which sell pole dance shoes have some they specifically suggest for beginner pole dancers. My first pair had clear uppers. I got them from a store used by the studio I go to…..they advised a heel of 6" with a platform (which I think is about 2"). I've recently had to buy a new pair b/c my first pair (after over a year of poling in them) had stretched and no longer felt safe. I've bought 2 pairs of Pleasers – red cheetah print and a pair with a "tattoo" design on them, and I also got a pair of really pretty blue sparkly ones from Ebay. Would like to try boots next!

What is the "correct" way to kick your leg as high as you can? I try to ensure that my back is straight when I do this, and my supporting leg with my foot flat on the floor. I have seen others who stand on tiptoe with their supporting leg, and some who curve their back and kind of hunch their shoulders when doing this.
