Are there special pole shoes to wear for pole or are they simply stillettos, etc. from a regular shoe store? Or both?

I have seen lots of platform heels in shoe stores but not sure if they would work or not….

I don’t think they make them especially for pole but the ones with the plastic/vinyl top parts work great 🙂 I like “pleasers” best for poling. I also like a shoe with an ankle strap better that those without one for poling. If you get pleasers you probably should get the next size up from your normal shoe size because they run a bit small.

Ankle straps on heels and vinyl on boots are best for pole. Pleasers, Elle, and Demonia are my shoe brands of choice. Snaz75 has hundreds of shoes you can shop by brand, style, and heel size. 😉

Yeah you can use whatever really but something with an ankle strap is a good idea! I sometimes dance in ballroom heels too!! They are nice and soft on the bottom so you can point the foot.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Definitely recommend those with an ankle strap.  Some stores which sell pole dance shoes have some they specifically suggest for beginner pole dancers. My first pair had clear uppers.  I got them from a store used by the studio I go to…..they advised a heel of 6" with a platform (which I think is about 2").  I've recently had to buy a new pair b/c my first pair (after over a year of poling in them) had stretched and no longer felt safe.  I've bought 2 pairs of Pleasers – red cheetah print and a pair with a "tattoo" design on them, and I also got a pair of really pretty blue sparkly ones from Ebay. Would like to try boots next!

This is a blog from a store (in Australia) where I've bought 2 pairs of Pleasers – there's an article on shoes for pole:  http://www.highheels.com.au/highheels/shoes-and-costumes/beginners-guide-to-pole-dancing/
