My mother-in-law saw this on a TV show:

No idea if it’s any good, I haven’t tried it yet…

Hmmm… thanks, Rubi. The problem with doing it on my own is that I would have no idea where to begin. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif It’s very intimidating… It’s not like you can just call a pole factory and say "Hey, can you make this?" and they do it. How would you go about doing something like that? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I was very much reminded of Felix when I was watching her… must be a flexible person thing.
A few of those moves took a little while to set up, though, kinda broke the flow of the performance in my opinion.
Very, very impressive, though, I faved it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I posted a happy b-day on your Facebook, but I’ll do one here too because I can:

And somehow, despite the odds, Sissybuns and I are sitting next to each other. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif No idea how that happened – I don’t think we even got our tickets on the same day!

I’m pretty sure the base and the dome are the same for both poles, so I’d imagine that you can just buy the adapter and the main pole pieces for the 45. That is if they sell them separately, anyway – and I’d check and see how much you would really be saving by buying the pieces separately like that. If there isn’t a huge price difference, you might just as well go for the entire pole. But I’d research it.
You could call or email X-Pole customer service to ask if you want, their customer service is awesome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Cold pole = less grip. Do a bunch of spins and climbs and such to warm up the pole then try your holds.
I’ve been having this problem, too – it’s been in the single digits here in NY and I have no grip whatsoever. Very frustrating, I know! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m hoping it’s going to get better though because I’m loaning them my art of pole set and hopefuly they will learn that the have to say these things, but ehh till then I’ll have to learn how to be safe here and my freind will have to wait till she’s not prego to try anything unsupervised.
You’re loaning your studio instructional DVDs on how to pole? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif Did I read that correctly? I would take that as a very very bad sign if I were you… I know you said disciplining yourself to pole at home is a problem, but by the sounds of it you would be better off using those DVDs by yourself at home than going to a studio who appears to have no idea what they’re doing.
Your friend that’s pregnant – how far along is she? If she’s more than 3 months she should definitely NOT be inverting! I don’t even think it’s recommended to invert at all once you find out you’re pregnant… The instructor should have been much more cautious with your friend.
I believe the moves you are talking about are called a boomerang (upright) and upside down it’s called an aysha or a straightedge split. From you’re story, it sounds like the instructor was teaching you to invert then go directly into the aysha – that is VERY bad! The instructor shouldn’t be teaching you to invert on your first lesson, first of all, and second the aysha is an advanced move! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif
This first week of class, in my opinion, the instructor should have spent assessing your skill level on the pole and filling in any gaps. Having you (and your pregnant friend) inverting on the first lesson was not a good idea, and trying an aysha within only a few lessons was an even worse one.
I know you really want this, but I think you’re going to get hurt… I’d find another studio. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

You could also try http://www.thepoledanceingshop.com too
Veena sells some booty shorts and tanks on this site, as well as sweatpants and sweatshirts, etc.
But you don’t necessarily need anything special – tank tops, sports bra, shorts (really short ones), booty shorts – anything that exposes a lot of skin so you can grip the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have to agree with you on the video viewing page format… However, the videos used to be listed the way that you’re describing, Dyvo, and Webmaster worked very hard at making the changes – so I really hate to say anything bad about it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif
I wouldn’t mind the way that the video page is set up if the scrolling bar didn’t reset whenever you clicked on a video. Right now I’ve been opening videos in a new tab just for that reason, which majorly slows down the browser. Also, I kinda miss seeing the username of the person that submitted the video along with the video title. I do like having the description and comments be selected to view them, but I think I’d like it better if it were off to the side – right now when you click, you can’t watch the video and read the comments and description at the same time because it bumps the video screen down too far. I do also like the categories like "lessons" and "challenges" being selectable compared to the old setup.
Just my opinion… I feel bad now, though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif – Webmaster does such a great job around here! I mean no offense, I swear! I’d completely respect it if you wanted to leave the videos the way they are now. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif

I pole because I suck at every other physical activity, lol. I do lots of craft-oriented hobbies so I usually spend my free time sitting down and I’ve always thought it would be nice to have something to do to get me off my butt; I admired the people that had the discipline to get up and run every morning before work, etc. and wanted to do something like that, too.
Well I found it with poling. I had been kinda sorta good at gymnastics when I was little, but only took lessons for a few months and I had a hard time learning the balance and strength necessary to do anything. But with a pole, you learn your balance and gain strength because you have something to hold onto and you’re doing the simple-yet-not-so-simple task of keeping your body off the floor. Perfect combination for someone like me.
The dance aspect of it is what makes it fun and not just a discipline or a sport. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I can’t do this one and pretty much don’t know anything about it, except that it’s an advanced type of grip. It takes more strength to be able to do it, at least to do it without straining something (I think)… Anyone I’ve ever seen learn it did so after learning at least one of the other standard grips. It’s just more impressive because it’s more advanced, as far as I could tell.
But I could be wrong, that’s just the impression I get. I love to hear if it’s something different, though! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif

@ knutschfleck – Oh it’s ok, I wasn’t trying to be mean, I just wanted Rubi to understand that the poles had to be just so for your method to work. I wasn’t trying to discredit you, I swear! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
And no, I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong with your pole if the holes don’t line up. I’m sure all the pieces are made slightly different. I also use an extension piece for my bottom pole because I have super short ceilings and needed the pole to be shorter than the standard kit, so that might be part of it.

Hey everyone,
I’m rather anal about my privacy on these sites – I had some issues last summer which was closely followed by people that I didn’t want to know that I poled finding me on Facebook, so I ended up deleting all my pole buddies.
Now that I’m back on the pole and since I’ve started taking advantage of the customized privacy settings, I really want to add my pole friends back on again. Send me a PM if you want to add me. However, some of you I don’t know very well so I may have parts of my profile blocked. It’s nothing personal – once I get to know you better I’ll unblock stuff. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif
A few of you I already found. Anyone else, send me a message if you want!
