@Hazelnut – I'm originally from Leeds!
Glad to see so many from the UK here 🙂
GolgothaTramp – I know exactly how you feel about being awkward and gawky! I still feel like I'm flailing my limbs about even when I'm under control lol. Keep us updated with how your group classes go!

Hello! Good to see another UK poler joining the ranks 🙂
Don’t worry about group classes, chances are the other girls will be feeling exactly the same way as you.If you’re worried about them being more advanced than you then don’t be 🙂 you’ll learn so much more from watching other people and seeing how they get into moves and I’m sure they’d be happy to give you hints and tips from when they first learnt too!

I can vouch for the nike dry fits too! I got the longer style with the small slits on the legs which are great, but I wish I'd got the shorter slightly tighter pair now I'm more advanced

There's a video of Jess Leanne Norris entering this move at about 2:40 in this video if it helps any of you 🙂

Aww what a lovely idea for a thread https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif.
I'm thankful and happy to be young, alive and healthy!
I'm thankful for my family, they mean everything to me
Living with my boyfriend makes me happy (when he's not making me feel like killing him ha!)
Seeing my school friends (we all live in different cities now and hardly ever see each other)
Pole and the rush I get from nailing a new trick/rediscovering an old one
Singing at the top of my lungs when nobody's around https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif especially in the car
Travelling and having fun new experiences (don't get to do as much as I'd like though)
Rose wine! Yummmmmmmmmmm
My bed (when I have it to myself & can starfish out)
Making friends with cats (My cat died just over a year ago and I can't get one at the moment 'cause of my rental contract, I'm a total crazy cat lady!)
And I'm with dustbunny on this one – Studio Veena!!

Have you checked that you've aligned the 3 screws with the 3 flat sections of the adjustor rod screw?
-
I've wanted to do a pole/Argentine tango to El Tango de Roxanne from Moulin Rouge for ages but I'm not sure I can do it justice yet! I'm not very good at actual dancing!

Happy Birthday SV!!
Thanks Veena & Webbie for providing such an invaluable resource for us polegirls & boys! Here's to the future *cheers*https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gifhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

Wow! Thats amazing! Thanks for posting it

It never used to bother me but now I can't stand it!
I was at Miss Pole UK the other weekend and almost ended up deaf from some girl screeching in my ear constantly! -
Where did you order it from? Did they give any indication of how long it would take?
-
Hi Steff! Just watched your fire hooping vid – wow! Which part of the UK are you from?

Not sure whether it’d actually work but it’d probably be cheaper than buying fancy trampoline covers!

That’s quite exotic ninja!
Mine would be Simple Scotchman… It just sounds kinda racist not sexy! Don’t think I’ll be using it somehow lol

My friend was having issues with CAR and we discovered it was because she was gripping too high up her thighs, once she tried it closer to her knees (well, more mid-thigh) she found it a lot easier!

I love the diverse range of jobs here 🙂
I'm currently studying for a (funded) masters degree in Biomedical Research & it's killing me! Think I might leave the world of research after I'm done, just not cut out for it so it would seem. -
I kept overtightening my pole at first so once I had it at the perfect length I drew a line on the flat part of the adjuster screw so I knew where to tighten it to each time!

What a wonderful, brave man! Goes to show what can happen when you believe in yourself https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
My eyes were watery from the start but when it showed him running I turned into a blubbering wreck! -
Ooo fab ideas! I keep meaning to do a challenge (or just post a video in general really!), might have to make time and attempt this one 🙂

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVhW1ePPbGY&feature=youtube_gdata_player just in case anyone’s interested this is her winning routine from 2011. Think I’m turning into a bit of a fangirl!

She's awesome. Im watching a workshop with her at my usual studio next week, so excited!!
-
Well done!! Just goes to show dreams can come true 😉

MemberApril 22, 2012 at 10:57 am in reply to: how can i stop comparing myself to others in my class?I try not to compare myself to other girls in my class but when I do I try and find things that I can do that they struggle with instead.
My friend & I are at the same level in class and she is generally better at pole than I am, but she struggles with the holds and hanging moves (ie scorpio, inverted crucifix) that I can do, and I struggle with the dynamic moves (shoulder mount, aerial invert) that she can do. Once I realised everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses I felt so much better!
I definitely think having a list of goals to achieve and working towards them yourself rather than at the pace of the rest of the class helps too!

That’s a brilliant idea Blaque, might give it a go this weekend!

The studio I go to sells mighty grip but no other grip aids, they also have chalk and gloves to borrow during lessons which is quite useful.
I'd love it if they sold pole shorts/tops and branded clothing though!
Could also sell tote bags or water bottles, something that would be used for a lesson and could be used in day to day life too?
