How are you guys getting on with your stretching?

I completely forgot about it this week (we're house hunting and it's all got a bit stressful!) but I'm planning on stretching 2-3 times this week and hopefully will have the motivation to put my pole up too a couple of days 🙂

That’s the most open minded and honest (in terms of the sports background and its future) pole article I’ve seen!
Congrats on making the front page of the paper 🙂

I'd never really seen guys pole dancing til I saw the Mr Pole Fitness UK contest before Miss Pole Dance UK this year & my jaw was constantly on the floor, their strength and grace was amazing (and their bodies were pretty easy on the eye too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif). Nico Modestine (the winner) was breathtaking, hope I can get to see more male performers soon.

On the boyfriend front, well, mine had a go at a fireman spin but jumped forward into it and nearly whacked his gigglybits on the pole…he's not a convert at all unfortunately!

Have you contacted x pole tech support? I had a similar issue but it was the 2 screws  they tell you never to touch that needed tightening – but you should contact them before touching the screws!

Pretty much the only combo I can do is invert to butterfly to inverted thigh hold and then you can caterpillar to EG aysha (or just a baby/cheats aysha where you hold the pole against your body with your arm across). I guess you could start with cradle to butterfly for this too 🙂

If you were logged in to youtube when you watched it you can get into your history of watched vids and look there?

Only person I could think of is Sarah Scott (Miss Pole Dance UK 2012) who did a shoulder mount V and then rotated her legs together in her winning routine…I've seen it called a round the world shoulder mount too if that helps?

Oo I've been dying to try the aerial hoop for ages! Not sure I have enough strength for it though.

Which train station is nearest to the studio? Need to price things up as much in advance as possible 'cause moneys kinda tight at the moment 🙁

Wow Becky that'd be awesome! I just googled your studio – love the trailer on the homepage 🙂

nichtooks, I'd be travelling to Manchester too so would have to stay somewhere if I have to get the train (boyfriend doesn't like me using his car! the big meany!) I would definitely be up for a couple of bevvies in the evening

My calf muscles are starting to feel much better after the aches and pains caused by Friday's antics so I'll be starting my stretching tomorrow 😀 I'll take some before pictures too for comparison yay!

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif holy crap!! Who knew someone could bend that way?!

It looks like a superpainful variation of the superpain but she enters it through something that looks like a hood ornament.

As for how to actually acheive it I have no idea and nowhere near the flexibility to even try lol!

I was planning on following the Veena stretching lessons once a week for two weeks (just to get used to it), then twice a week for a few weeks before upping to three times/every other day. Hopefully I'll see progress with that!

I had a look at the splits in 6 weeks program (http://www.unique-bodyweight-exercises.com/splits.html) but I don't really want to stretch every day at first so might go to that when it's 6 weeks til xmas!

What a great idea! I'd love to meet some fellow Veeners! I'm living in Brum but my parents live in Leeds so it'd be no problem to head north for a pole jam 🙂
Depending how many are interested could always split the cost of hiring a studio for the day/afternoon?

I'm in! I started stretching this week but my progress has been hampered already due to pulling both calf muscles drunkenly jumping up and down and headbanging for several songs in a row on a night out lol!! I can barely walk at the moment!

Ha glitterhips beat me to the Santa Baby suggestion, just goes to show how popular it might end up being!

A little obvious maybe but how about Santa Baby? It's festive yet slow & sultry…there is the risk that someone else might use the same song though I suppose. I quite like this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXCe0NZm3_k
Or there's Baby its Cold Outside, not quite as slow/sultry but maybe less obvious and could be fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTNheCEUP_A ?

Sorry if it's not quite what you're looking for, I just got a bit excited about xmas routines!

Ahh ok, quite a tricky situation then… It seems like you're very self-motivated, and if you're making significant progress at home and not in class then maybe stop going for a little while (maybe a month or so?) and see how you get on?
Seeing as you're more advanced than the others you probably wouldn't have a problem catching up to them if you decided to go back to it later on 🙂

Is there a more advanced class you could go to? How are the classes at your studio structured?

It makes me cringe when I see people wearing rings on the pole, it's a pet peeve of mine! My teacher does it all the time and they're her poles so I can't really say anything about it when I see other girls in class doing the same lol
I used to wear my necklace but now I take it off and leave it at home before going to class, but thats because my necklace kept hitting me in the face (and going up my nose https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif) when I inverted.
I always wear my hair up too, can't handle practicing upside down with hair in my face!

I've been tempted to try this for a while but I don't know if I'd catch myself!
Found this video of it on pole dance dictionary too http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/119/hip-lock-drop/

Hi 2little2late! I'm from the UK and the lessons work fine 🙂 it's all done through paypal so it automatically converts to £ and takes it from your bank through paypal – it's super easy to set up & cancel too!
