Woohoo! Congratulations 😀
It took me way longer to climb than that so it's a great accomplishment in 3 weeks! -
Steffie – I use the palm yeah (just had to try it to see ha!)! I can do the thumb to wrist thing too but it's not as easy as it used to be!

Brilliant thread!
I have pretty flexible shoulders and can put sun cream on my whole back without any assistance lol, it gets a few funny looks on holiday! I can also bend the tip of each finger backwards almost 90 degrees (my mum can do it to 90 on each finger)

I haven't had a photoshoot but I'd probably take a couple of outfits in case one isn't photographing well or isn't working out as planned 🙂

I’ve been stretching intermittently, had one amazing session where I was only about an inch on my good side then got the flu and had to take 2 weeks off 🙁 lost any real progress I’d made!
I didn’t measure my starting point but I have pictures, need to take some more this week!

All I want for Christmas is…https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif
1. A Lululemon/Onzie sports bra but that looks unlikely now 🙁 I'd love some more shorts too from either of those companies. Or Mika yogawear! Oh the list is endless…
2. Those gorgeous neon pink Pleasers (but 6 inch not sure I could handle the 7 inchers ;-p)
3. (I'm with you on this one Brynne) a pull up bar! I've never been able to do a traditional pull up (even when I was rock climbing for 4-6 hours a week) and for some reason I feel like I want to be able to lol
4. I'd love a new pole but that really is very highly unlikely to happen, and I don't have the room for it lol!
zoey – jagerstore.co.uk ship Pleaser shoes from within the UK and their prices are some of the most reasonable I've seen, everythingpoledancing.com also sells shoes and a few items of pole clothing too.

I use tiny amounts of liquid climbing chalk to counteract sweat but I layer it over mighty grip so my hands are sticky but dry. It's important that the mighty grip is tacky before you put the chalk on though.
If I'm really sweaty I use mighty grip, then tite grip and then maybe a little chalk on top.
Elektra – that Cramer tuf skin looks like strong stuff!

Aerial Amy has a blog on rhinestoning her shoes that might be useful for you 🙂

My profile pictures are the same on both too. I don't have a youtube account 'cause I don't really have any videos yet 😛
I've got people on the pole fb that I think are from the forum but I pretty much accepted anyone as long as they had pole-related info on their profile.

Ohh they're cool, I love glowey things!
-
I was hoping to have bought & practiced in some heels by the pole jam but it's looking unlikely 🙁 got my eye on those neon pleasers at the moment lol
I booked my train tickets though 😀 excited!

I need to book my train tickets and find accommodation still eek! Has anyone else sorted theirs yet? I've no idea what times to aim to get there for or leave at lol

I had the same problem and Xpole told me to tighten those two screws and then reassemble the pole and it worked. Tali Kat was right, the hex keys supplied with the pole won't fit, you'll need a 3mm hex key!
I'm assuming the pole is already correctly tensioned though, I wouldn't over-tighten it because that may cause ceiling damage and may cause your pole to bow.

It's a tough choice between superman and butterfly for me…I feel so comfortable in butterfly I could stay there all day 🙂
I've finally solidified my EG aysha but it needs more work before it takes over as favourite! -
Ooh interesting topic chemgoddess!
I often wake up with random songs in my head, sometimes it'll be a song that reminds me of a certain memory or other times it will just be a random song (even ones I really don't like!). Today's song was Punk Rock 101 by Bowling for Soup…haven't heard that song in years! I think it's probably just my mind bringing up random information from the past.
I also often have very strong gut feelings and can usually tell when plans (either my own or others) won't come to fruition and I'm also analytically minded, however I definitely wouldn't say I agree with all of the clairsentience and claircognizance options!
My mum and grandma both have strong gut feelings so I think thats where I get it from. And as a scientist (in training :P) I've had to work to develop my analytical skills and ability to think laterally so I wouldn't say that was a gift!
I'm fairly skeptical about psychic abilities, and I'm inclined to think that it is mostly the ability to empathise with others and read the subleties in their body language/emotions (and that this is something people can develop, rather than a "gift"), however the mind is so complex that almost anything is possible really! I don't agree with "psychics" and "mind readers" but that's a whole other topic!
Wild Lotus – that's pretty spooky, have the dreams stopped now or do you still have them from time to time?

Will we see you there then Miraine :D?
Hazel: I'm just doing the advanced one too, so excited/nervous! I can already feel the bruising and soreness just thinking about it lol!
-
It was annoying me so I tracked it down lol it was a link Alethea posted ages ago, theonzie.com.
Sent my boyfriend links to the skull stuff as a birthday pressie hint lol! -
Shona I think there’s another site that does skull ones but I’m not at home atm so can’t look in my favorites for it!
-
Hazelnut – if you go to this page http://www.blushdance.com/index.php?Itemid=30&option=com_registrationpro&view=events and click on Pole Jam the booking links are there 🙂
Are you planning on doing both classes? -
Aww so you definitely can't make it Lizzie? I'm sure there'll be more in the future
I think I'll book in tonight 🙂
Need to sort out train tickets and accommodation too, I keep squealing with excitement (and I'm not normally a squeally person :P).Anybody got any ideas on where would be best to stay? I'm going to have to save the pennies for this weekend lol
-
I'd do the beginner one too if I could afford it lol! I could do with polishing up my basics but I want to be challenged (I may regret saying that!) and I'm in need of some help on a few more advanced things 🙂
I'm really excited but nervous too! I've only ever been on the studio poles and my home pole (all 45mm chrome), and at home I have no grip! Hopefully I'll be able to stick to poles at Blush!
-
Nichtooks- I just messaged Dan on Facebook and he said the beginners class is mainly for people who aren’t ready to invert yet and focusses on more basic spins and transitions.
I described the moves I need help with (handsprings and maybe some advanced combos) n he reckoned the int/adv class would be more beneficial and I think you’re more advanced than me so its probably even more beneficial for you (from what i remember of your vids you’re stronger and more flexy lol) if that helps you decide?

arrgh the link didn't work! I'm such a techno-idiot!

Hopefully that link works! Didn't mean to link you to rabbits or anything LOL!

Hi Ceri 🙂
Do you know the type of poles used at your studio? It might be a good idea to find out the coating and diameter and if you feel comfortable with that then buy the same pole.I have a 45mm chrome X-pole X-pert (£199.99 +P&P) which has static and spin modes. It's also a multipiece pole and packs down nice and small for storage :).
I do love it and it's probably the most commonly used pole, however I find the coating difficult for grip and wish I'd spent the extra £30 on a titanium gold pole which I've heard is better for grip. They also have brass poles for £299.99, but I can't comment on brass because I've never used it.
Platinum stages are more expensive poles (from around £250 for a one piece, and way more for a multipiece) and come in stainless steel and brass which aren't as commonly used as chrome/titanium gold in the UK (from what I can tell).
Whatever you do decide, DO NOT buy a dance pole like these http://www.annsummers.com/search/?storeId=10151&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&beginIndex=0&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=1&showResultsPage=true&pageView=image&searchTerm=pole&searchTerm=Search (hopefully that search link works!). These poles aren't sturdy enough for spins and tricks despite what their descriptions may say! Many of the pole fails you see on youtube are from poles like this…
Using the search box at the side of the page will bring up plenty of information from people who have tried all manner of pole coatings and diameters…the forum is fulllllll of pole knowledge!
