PS The first one (lala) for clothing or fashion merchandise but not for a pole studio

I like Lala Couture it has whimsy to it in my opinion. I like Ribbon and Thorn because it's a bit edgy but for me that name would depend on your target market  and/or what your selling.

If it's not over stretching maybe it's the type of stretching you are doing? Have you also worked up to holding each stretch for 30 seconds to a minute?

(I've heard for a stretch to be effective it has to be done longer than 30 seconds but I'm no expert or certified at anything so any of my advice is not any sort of official guideline)

My individual insight: I made progress with the 6 week program and Alethea's pure splits. I have no gymnastics background and could never do the splits when I was younger.

Hey Lyme. I do gels too. Your nails looked gread in you vid by the way. I still have to try this but here are two tutorials on using regular nail polish with a gel system

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7Jrm5sQGhY

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEsD8cioDMU

The tip I keep reading is to make sure the regular polish is thoroughly dry so it won't crack underneath the get coat.

  • Also I don't know about this product from personal experience but I saw the makers of this on Shark tank

If your teacher is open to helping you learn your style and willing to veer away from her norm then what about emailing her links of vids with polers doing your style?

Maybe if she can see exactly what your after or at least something along the lines of it. She might be able to do a better job of showing you what you are after.

I once had a pole instructor who I took privates from and we'd go online and I'd show her moves or transitions I wanted to learn and she would break them down for me.

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for responding Haley,Katana,Mary Ellen and Amy 🙂

My head wasn't touching the ground or had pressure on it but I realized my chin was more in a tucked position whereas I've noticed everyone usually has their head up looking up.

Also the pop came when my legs moved down a bit further (I kind of let them hang and sort of drop down with gravity).  Another thing I was very close to the pole so maybe too close as Amy mentioned and shouldn't have let them hang in light of what Mary Ellen pointed out?

Also Amy when I clicked on the link it brings me to the home page instead of showing the picture

Oh I see. So I guess you have to clarify what is a violation of ethics at your workplace first. Did you ever have a chance to get those details from your boss and see if he understood that you are not an exotic dancer?

Why don't you talk to the studio owners and explain that you panicked but have grown from the experience and have learned not to make hasty decisions (so if they give you another chance they will know that you are reliable) and would really like to continue teaching.

I also think that Webmaster gave awesome advice and also think, as he mentioned, when you were called into the office it was for exotic pole dance and not fitness pole. I agree with everybody's input. I hope you will protect yourself by following the suggestions here.

Did you guys see the video response in the 1st link posted here?

She looks to be positioned on the pole the same as Anna except her arms are more downwards

    than straight out

I would never want to stick with one studio. My goal in pole dance is to push myself to find out all of my body's capabilities.  I want to pick up the best qualities of so many different dancers and each teacher has their specialties. I can't take the risk of missing out by being limited to one studio.

@Nadine I think you should go for those offers. It does not mean you don't love your home studio  you are just broadening your pole horizons 🙂

    Interesting

Right now I am struggling a bit with my motivation because I broke my pole progress momentum by going overseas & had no pole for an extended time. It seems progress is my motivation and because I have to relearn a few things and work to get back to where I left off I find myself procrastinating to practise. In general as soon as I start getting better at something I start getting really motivated and more disciplined at keeping up with it. It's inertia I guess: A body in motion stays in motion a body at rest stays at rest.

Sorry I'm kind of going off on a tangent, can you give the name of the book?

    Hi Pole gal,

He says in the first week to only do the first five stretches and in week two add in the splits stretch.

Also because I found my flexibility really low I used yoga blocks to help me control how much preasure I was putting on my legs like in this vid:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79v9ZL70mKg

I had also worked up to doing his stretches for 60 seconds (3x each side)

I benefited from adding other stretches (Aletha Austin Pure Splits)

Also for the back legs the yoga pigeon stretch seems to be a good one along with getting better at the deep lunge stretch. From what I've read working on the hip flexor will help with that. Here is a link with Hip Flexor stretching info (I have not put those stretches in my routine yet so I have no personal experience with them) :

    http://aerialamy.com/blog/2012/01/17/tuesday-tips-hip-flexor-flexibility/

Again I'm just telling you my methods of learning the splits. If someone here sees that any info I gave is incorrect please say something.

The reason why I used 6 weeks and Alethea's stretches are because those are the two that more than a few times other people had tried and then said they were able to get their splits.

I really like that. I just tried it and I can kind of get it with firm grip spray gluing my hand to the pole but in "real life" (as in no aids) not really. I'm gonna work on it. It looks so nice. Thanks for that post.

You can try The Splits in 6 Weeks Program. Here's the thread on it and people here have had success with it:

    https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/3310

I think though on average it seems to take someone not so fexible 6 months to a year of stretching at least 3 times a week (This is just my personal observation it's not based on any official study or anything)

You will know how many times is right for you depending on how fast your body recovers from soreness. I did not stretch every day I just waited until my muscles didn't feel so sore that they hindered my stretches. Although I've read here it's okay to do light stretches every day.

If you've already done the splits earlier in life you will probably get it sooner than six months. Using Alethea Austin's Pure Splits with the six weeks program really worked for me.

You did the right thing Sweet D. The neighbour gave you no choice but to cut him off and should've been grateful for the time he did have using your electricity as that was not an obligation on your part. We teach people how to treat us. I'm glad you showed him that you will not let anyone take advantage of you.
