Just a tip that has worked for me, instead of keeping your legs together in superman do your super man with scissor legs, for me it was less fumbling to find my grip.  I've recent,y lost this move due to being off pole for injuries do I'm back at it again.  I also feel this move takes some core, if I do some core training them tackle this move its much easier.

Size is relative.  My favorite dancers tend to be curvy.  I love hips and curves.  I have always found that curvy girls have many advantages when I comes to pole.  Hips that swivel and swerve beautifully whether your movement is big or small ( thinner girls have to work to make their curves show) strong legs for climbing and leg holds (I struggle with leg holds.). No matter your body type there are advantages and disadvantages when it comes to pole, that's what makes each dancer so amazing, the journey through figuring out what feels good and what you love to do.  No matter your body type, everyone starts out feeling awkward but over time we all find our dancer and style.  Welcome back to pole, welcome to SV and enjoy this journey!

It really depends on what you are looking for.  The instructions here are much better than a DVD and being added to constantly.  To my knowledge there are no DVD's in existence that teaches pro level moves like the fonji, etc.  So for basic to advanced your best bet for the money is SV lessons.

If you are looking for small nuances or style I would check out both Jamilla's AOP and Bobbi's DVD's – they both teach some signature tricks which I love!

AA's stretching DVD's are great – I use them off and on when I have time.  You have to do at least part of the stretch in your pole room which isn't always convenient for me but the stretches are very good.

I have an old school Fawnia DVD – Pole Work and Fire – which has some really cool stuff in it by Kelly Kane which I enjoyed.  The rest of it would be considered intermediate by todays standard though.  It's still nice for variations.

If you just want to LEARN pole moves/dancing – this is the place to be 🙂 If you're interested in a certain performers style – check to see if they have DVD's or even better Skype – many of our favorite pole stars do skype lessons.  DVD's can be good for getting inside of a performers signature moves, way of expressing themselves etc, but with SV you do get off the pole support.

When it comes to DVD's remember everyone has a different body, different methods work better and safer for some people more than others.  You are purchasing one persons method – so sometimes you have to take what you love and leave the rest.  🙂

    My body:

    1) I love my small breasts – wouldn't change them for anything

    2) I love my long hair

    3) I love my shoulders

    Pole:

    1) I love my remi drop

    2) I love the creativity pole brings out in me

    3) I love that moment when you can connect and get lost in the music- its a very special and fleeting moment.

Awesome!!!  AerialGypsy!  thanks for the feedback.  I might buy one for my stage – it's way easier to deadlift on a 40!

I use my 45 the most.  I do like the 40 a lot but it takes some getting used to – kinda like a 50.  All I really have to add is that the 45 on the stage moves a little more than the 50 so I'm guessing the 40 might move even more.  Maybe write someone who has a 40 stage and see how they like it and maybe ask for a video to see it in action.  I don't mind pole flex on stage poles but some people really don't like it.  Good luck with your purchase and if you do get the 40 stage please post vids 😀

When you go into the cupid you need to pull up with arms so that you can get a straight line from hip to knee cap.  here is a good tips video from Amy.  I hope this helps 🙂

LM's are good poles and really cost effective.  I love this color!  I was wondering if they would ever come out with new colors and this is soooo pretty!

I've worked on studio mounted LM's and they were great.  I am pretty partial to my X-poles because I love chrome but I've always recommended the LM static pole as a great budget pole.  Will the SV color be available in static only?

Also – love the new button system much better than the old screw thing they had – that wasn't fun.  Glad to see all the improvements from LM.

Yes – X-pole assembly is super simple these days!  I love them.  I know you are practicing for next year's showcase so I thought I would add that you may want to practice on your perm spinner since it's faster – the stages seem to have really good spin!

I have adopted a system that Shadow has used for years because it's pretty brilliant.  She has/had different prices absed ont he level you are at.  I don't remember the exact $ amounts but I have teired system too.  I have a flat rate for regulars and a different rate for non regulars and I have a rate for beginner/int/adv.  I'm probably going to develope a choreo rate as well but we will see.

The competition X-poles spin like a mofo – like the ps poles but the home poles if over tightened don't seem to spin as much.  You could get a mount for it and it will spin faster and get rid of the ceiling plate issue you are having.

My X-poles at Studio B spin really good.  It also takes time to break them in – I hope that helps.  The one I have at home spins really good!!!!

One of my athletes trained with her earlier this year and loved the experience.  She said Zoraya was extremely kind and sweet but also motivating and good at pushing her.  She came back with a plethora of new things that we are now working on.  It was an amazing experience for her.

I don't recommend and I don't know ayone who does – contortion training on your own.  Contortion can be dangerous so I hope you have a knowledgable coach.

Like Veena, said contortion won't help with inverts and I've know extremely felixble people who find some pole holds super hard.  I don't know how much strength it takes to be a contortionist so I don't know if it will give you strength but I do know it can be dangerous without the proper instruction and coaching.
