Oh, it curves? no, you couldn’t put it on the part that curves, I don’t think. I don’t know about the beams either, 8cm is pretty small! I know how you feel though I hac ceiling issues too. Is there anywhere else you could put it?
-
I could be mistaken, but isn’t it the case with concrete ceilings that you can put the pole anywhere? Your ceiling looks like it’s made out of concrete bricks?
-
I put my pole centred on one joist as my ceilings are odd, and we could only confidently identify one. I invested in a joist finder, which doesn’t work on plasterboard, which my ceiling are, and the knocking method doesn’t work on it either. So i’d say if you joist are close enough, go between, but if theyre further apart, it’s probably okay to go on just one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_porc.gif

Hi Brierly!
I’m from Dublin, so not too far from you either. I have been poling for about a month, when I bought an xpole. Would definitely recommend you getting one. And if you do, buy it here http://www.x-pole.co.uk/
That’s the official website. They have tem for sale on ebay too, but if theyre real, they cost the same! If they cost less, it usually means they’re fake. Also, the poles out now are new ones which are easier to put up than the old ones. I have a 50mm chrome and I love it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I’d say a lot of people started off just poling once a week at classes. I never went to classes, so I don’t know what it’s like. If you’re unsure about it, you could take a few more classes. But, if you know you’re hooked, then why not get one? (I’d check your ceilings at home are suitable first though, mine nearly werent!)

I have done the plank, it’s one of my fave moves now, as it’s one I can actually do haha! Tried the advanced plank today, let’s just say it didn’t go so well! Haven’t gotten to the top of my pole though, so well done!
On the topic of Veena’s lessons, I had a glance today at a pole dance dvd i bought with my pole. It’s awful! The instruction just didn’t make sense, and the moves at the start of it are far too advanced for beginners.. So yay for Veena’s lessons!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Ooo… I was thinking I really want to do the Feb challege, but now i’m scared! Definitely going to need practice if i’m to attempt this! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

The stuff on youtube is good to see new moves, but if you’re a total beginner, I’d definitely recommend investing in Veena’s lessons if you can. Even if only for a month. I’m a beginner too, and I got them. I have been trying them out for a month, and i love them, so will be getting a year sub soon! It’s so easy to injure yourself pole dancing, and Veena teaches things properly and step by step, so you’ll hopefully avoid injury!
Enjoy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

So it’s basicall a half spin, but ending up with the leg bent around the pole..?

And i’ve also had the blood pressure problem. They told me they wouldn’t renew my prescription if my BP was too high, so I got all stressed out and it shot up! Luckily managed to get it down in time and left will my pills in hand! Lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I’m pretty sure i’d rather be pregnant wit octuplets than find out i have HIV! So I understand you feel halfjack. I was actually thinking about doing a full test over the xmas break but kinda chickened out. Well done for doing it. Now I must do it! You’e reminded me! No excuses! Might as well ge the bf to come along too. I guess it’s gone to find out if you’ve got chlamydia, because it’s totally treatable and all that.
Well anyway, thanks for encouraging me to do it, and well done on being brave!! (Hope the results are okay, i’m sure they will be!)

You may be a pole dancer if… upon seeing your new apartment, you stand on the furniture and knock on the ceiling, frantically searching for the dull sound! (and ask everyone you know if they have any expert opinions on plasterboard ceilings!)
(azzwoo’s post reminded me of this.. I had ceiling troubles too!)

I had the same problem with pole sits fedorka. Then the other day I did it, it hurt quite a bit, but the pole was hot and it was fine. I’ve had the same problem with spins hurting my hands, only recently, think it’s because the pole gets so warm?
-
Lol that’s funny! If it helps, I think I got outer calf ones from reverse hook spins!!
-
lol, yeah I get tortured ordering stuff online and then waitin for it. Like my pole, oh god I was a nightmare to be around!
-
Oh that sounds like a total nightmare. I’d much rather be able to walk into a shop and buy a pair, even if they were a bit more exepnsive, just to avoid the hassle. Out of interest, which uk site did you buy from, as I can’t get on to the one I saw before?
-
I’m pretty sure you can order Pleaser’s online in UK though. I’m looking to get a pair soon, and delivered to Ireland from a UK website. The prices were all really reasonable too.. Although I can’t fnd the site right now, I’m pretty sure it was like an official Pleaser website. Just had a look, it seems like the site may have been taken down as I can’t get to it anymore! If you find a website selling them in Uk, let me know.
(There was a woman selling them from an irish website who i’m sure would deliver to UK, but I was emailing her, and she seemed a bit odd to say the least, so I’d rather not buy from her, lol!)

I’ve always loved the idea of pole dance. And I mean the dirty, sexy side. The idea of it was so amazing to me, and still is! That was before I even knew it could be done for fitness. Now I do it because, not only do I find it incredibly fun, but it’s to keep me fit too.
I have limited time for scheduled activities (i.e. cant easily join classes) and I get incredibly bored at the gym, but on the pole, I can easily spend 2 hours playing around and working up a sweat! So it’s fun, but also convenient! Having a pole at home means I can do it whenever suits me! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Yeah Veena’s lessons go through the moves in a really good way, and she often tells you what specifically to work on before moving to a more advanced move. What’s the Kate Moss move?
-
I hope i’m wrong! Maybe they will have disappeared today, but they definitely looked like stretchmarks.. how odd!
-
Oh yeah, I remember now you saying that. I don’t think it’s from losing weight though, as I havent lost weight in the last 2 weeks, and you normally get stretch marks from putting on weight (which I couldnt have done in the last 2 weeks either.. I hope!) Could it be from where the flesh sort of clings to the pole (in pole sit, plank etc) and pulls when you put weight on it? As soon as I saw them, I was afraid to try the plank again!
Need to get som bio-oil…!

MemberJanuary 27, 2010 at 1:41 am in reply to: I got my mom to sit through some pole videos!Congrats! I’m fighting the same battle, wish I had a toddler around to break the ice! I keep my pole at the boyfriends house, and when I mentioned pole dancing for fitness.. my mom just didn’t really respond, except making a weird expression, not even making eye contact, it was strange! So I didn’t even get around to telling her I have my own pole! Lol! So now I can’t tell anyone else, because if someone says something on facebook, etc, my mom will find out and be angry that I didn’t tell her blah blah!! excuses!!
Anyway, well done, must be a relief for you!

I’m sorry this happened to you, it sounds like you were doing exactly the right things. It all sounds like a nightmare.
I had similar stuff happen to me before involving a worthless relationship causing longer lasting problems, that i’m not brave enough to go into. But I also have a supportive and understanding boyfriend, and i’m so glad you do too! There are a lot of people who have to go through this kind of stuff alone! In terms of the biopsy, it must be so worrying, but remember that in a lot of screening, its a ‘worst-case-scenario’ kind of thing. They’re probably just doing it because they saw something slightly abnormal on the smear, and they know you’re high risk, so they’re being super careful. As you know, abnormal smear results are really common, and usually mean nothing!
P.s. I share your fear of not being able to have kids – dont know why! But the fact that you’ve found your life partner is probably as important, if not more! Although i’m sure it will all be fine. Best of luck next week x
