This move requires some flexibility and time. Even if you already understand the Jade/Hip Hold, working on this half variation can improve the full version dramatically. Always try both sides.
Also known as: HALF JADE / THE DUCHESS
Strengthens: ADDUCTORS

Yep!
This could work as a variation of floor Jade, right?
Oh pretty! Pam 😊
I finally got that one :)
Thank you!
You can start by placing the foot on the pole, then as you become more comfortable point the foot and take it off the pole. :)
Hello Veena I'm working on this move but my bended leg feels better resting my feet in the pole I mean like stepping on it, is it like cheating? Jaja or could be a different position ?
Yes
When you say "push the torso up," do you mean so that I am more horizontal than I am vertical? Meaning, my head would be more up than down?
It would be the same when doing jade or Allegra. You could try pushing your torso up as high as possible with one hand. This may give you the clearance you need
Oh, Thanks Veena!! So, it isn't that I'm doing something wrong necessarily then? Is doing the full Jade different than this? Or, if I can't do a half hip hold on a 50mm, then I better not try the Jade?
Those* not rhode, auto correct on my phone :) I find using a 45 or 40 mm pole keep the pole off my lower ribs
What is a "Rhode move?" My pole is a 50mm.
This is one of Rhodes moves that isn't right for everyone. However the size of the pole can factor into if it pressed into the ribs. What size pole do you have?
Every time I try this and I go to extend the outside leg, it feels like the pole is going to damage my ribs. I make sure the pole is right above my hip bone, but the pole ends up against my ribs when I go to extend the leg. What am I doing wrong?
It looks great. :)
I almost have it! Thank god for my crash pad
Good luck!
Going to try this at class tonight!
You make tings look so effortless
Yes if you're approaching it this same way :)
Does the free leg out to the side work for jade as well? Great lesson!
I love this variation! Great breakdown Veena. I haven't been extending my free leg out to the side--I'm gonna get this! :)
love this!!
