Tell us a little bit more about what you're trying to do, or perhaps post a vid so we can help you further. With the wrist sit, some tips are: - Lean BACK before trying to sit on your wrist, your torso should not be close to the pole - After sitting on the pole, putting your wrist under one bum cheek and leaning back, try to release your thigh hold and sit your bum on your wrist - Next bring your knees towards your chest (do not just splay open your legs) and then extend them out to an upright V

I had a hard time with the wrist sit when I first started because I wasn't able to do a thigh hold yet. I was basically walking up to the pole, sliding my hand under my butt and grabbing the pole, then trying to just sit on my wrist that way LOL. It never worked and it hurt like hell LOL. Once I was able to do a good thigh hold on the pole and lean back comfortably, the wrist sit happened more easily ๐

thank you for the tips ๐ i'll try to video my attempt soon but iv somehow sprained my wrist in my sleep haha so im waiting for it to heal a bit atm ๐ณ thanks again ๐

HAHAHAHAHA LOL sprained your wrist in your sleep! You crack me up! Here we are, doing a dangerous, demanding sport like pole dancing and we manage to injure ourselves sleeping and walking hahaha! ๐

I really struggled with that one too until I saw a youtube vid by lilpoleprincess entitled "Me vs. The Crucifix". It IS a lesson in perserverance. She gets into position from a crossed leg sit on the pole. She then drops down, tilts back and slides her hand into position--much easier to do with legs crossed! After imitating her, I got it and can now do it every time! Here's the address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEgukefBjrk I hope this helps.

That video is really helpful - the other thing that really made a difference for me is switching hands. I thought that I should have my stronger side's hand under my tush for support, but I really needed to use that hand on top to hold me up. I can't do it on both sides yet, but switching hands at least got me used to the positioning! Good luck!

It also helps me to do this move if I have my top arm lower down, like closer to my chest as opposed to higher up by my head. This might be how everyone else does it too and I've just never paid attention so it might not even be new advice but experimenting with your hand placement might make you feel a little more stable.

I finally got the wrist seat! I've been constantly trying to just spread my legs LOL but when I brought them in and then spread it worked like a charm! ๐ฅ THANKS *Jessica*

are you actually sitting on your wrist? that sounds like it would hurt ๐

Thank You soo much georgia! I finally got the wrist seat! I've been constantly trying to just spread my legs LOL but when I brought them in and then spread it worked like a charm! ๐ฅ THANKS *Jessica* YAY! I'm so glad it helped! What glitter said is a very good point too. Leaning back is made easier if your top arm is lower on the pole (closer to your body) - for anyone else who comes to this thread looking for help ๐ And Meleania, yes you sit on your wrist but some of your weight is also on your top hand which is holding the pole.

OH MY GOD...this stupid wrist sit has always been a big ole pain in my butt, however I always thought it looked way cool. I was just spreading my legs as well..tonight in class when I brought them in and then spread EASY AS PIE!!!!! THANKS!!!!! ๐ ๐ ๐ ...seriously who knew LOL

We learnt this in this weeks lesson and I found it easier than the pole sit. Has anyone else found this? It is much less painful anyway - I think the only reason I could split my legs was because it hurt less than gripping them lol. I suprised myself by doing it though! Wish I had a pole to practise on at home ๐ -x-

so I have tried all of the mentioned tips to do this move and I still can't completely get it!! Any tips for not spinning around?? As soon as I get my legs into the v I start moving around the pole...
carriej ยท
Make sure your bottom hand thumb is pointing up. I used to try it down and it never worked! First time I tried it with thumb up, I got it!
Elexis ยท
Ok thanks!! I am def gonna try that today ๐ , I have been doing it thumbs down. I am so glad I found this site!! ๐ ๐

slipping down the pole. Is it my grip? This is a tough one for me.
chemgoddess1 ยท
Pink...how are you holding you bottom hand? Your thumb should be facing up and you should be sitting on it.
pink33 ยท
CHEMGODDESS1, That was the issue!!!! Thank you xo
chemgoddess1 ยท
Pink....I just had one of my local girls that was having the same issue and she was doing that same thing. You can thank MommaBear on here.

Who knew sticking your thumb up your butt could fix the problem LMAO Every time I get this now, I can't help but giggle cause in the back of my head I'm thinking "thumb in the butt, thumb in the butt." Another thing Chem taught me that night - Butterfly - for that one I just have to remember to stick my head way down in there and "smell my armpit" and I have perfect form LOL Yes, I have an usual learning style. Once I get upside down I can't grasp right from left or which is the strong arm, so I use silly sayings like "thumb in the butt" and "smelly pit".

Haha that`s a really good way to train your brain! Any other associations you come up with, let us know!

One tip: Really think about contracting your abs and lifting your legs up rather than 'sitting' on your wrist. It helps to control the move by not putting all the weight and emphasis on your wrist.

TheGirlsRoomInc: Thanks for the tip!

TheGirlsRoomInc: THAT DID IT! Thank you, that's the exact tweaking I needed. I did it! :)
